BEST of THE BEST. This is the best cajun food you can find in Baton Rouge. What else is there to say? Great lunch specials, lots of offerings, great service. BEST BOUDAIN IN AMERICA. I work next door at the Hampton Inn and it's nice to be able to drive two blocks for lunch or an afternoon snack. Sometimes I'll load up for the weekend. I advise that you do the same.
I like it there. Very friendly people. I got a couple of Natchitoches meat pies and some smoked chicken. Both were outstanding.
Close to I-10 and great.. About a mile off I-10. If you are rushing through Louisiana, and can't find the time for a sit down meal, but want a taste of delicious hot take out food, go to the market side of this place, and get a nice variety stuffed breads and meats and boudin.
I would venture to say, it will probably better than most sit-down cajun meals you will get anywhere near the interstate. Lots of bang for your buck.
(I grew up in Lafayette, and know about these things)

Fantastic!. We wanted to try a bit of everything. My husband and 5 children decided to go with: the "gator sausage(excellent), andouille sausage(very good), tasso(would be very good in beans and rice), the crawfish pistolettes(amazing!), meat pie(fabulous), BBQ chicken(a little dry, just "ok"). The best of everything..the ribs, oh my, they were the absolute best! Great place to stop driving through from Mississippi on our way to Houston, Texas! You don't want to miss out on this
fabulous find!

One of the best.... Smoked boudin is out of this world. Boudin balls were very fresh and clean-tasting. Top-quality pork products. Nice to have this great place right over the bridge instead of having to drive all the way to Acadiana,.
Best Boudin that I have ever tasted. Bergeron's brings back my old cajun memories of what cajun boudin use to tast like. There's just no other way to put it...Bergeron's boudin is the real deal when it comes to eaten Cajun food. Thanks a million Bergeron's.
TWO Seperate Restaurants Under One Roof. Know that there are TWO separate restaurants in this building.
1. On the right is the large restaurant that mainly has sandwiches (nothing to write home about) and a special of the day. I had the Averie Special. I wasn't really impressed because the majority of the dish is just a common fried chicken breast.
2. On the left is the market but this is the place for the type of grub I was looking for. Crawfish pie, shrimp empanada, boudin balls, and several other things of that nature.
Recommendation...Get a selection of hot food from the market and take it to the larger dining room next door where you might split the special of you are there with a friend or date.
Best Pork Tasso. The Chow is great and I highly recommend this place . . . BUT - I went next door to the meat market . . . I had the boudin, which was slightly above average, but the pork tasso! WOO BABY!!
If you make your own jambalaya or red beans and rice . . . this tasso is sooooooo good. Very smoky and very good.
Excellent!. I work in Port Allen and Bergeron's is by far the best dining experience in town! Prices are extremely reasonable, especially for the large portions. I haven't had anything here I didn't like, I especially enjoy the Averie Special on Thursdays! The staff is always friendly and they seem like they really care about the place, also, service is really, really quick. I usually call in my order and it's ready in the 5 minutes it takes for me to get over there! Highly recommend!
Red beans and rice on Mkndays are unbelievable! And the stuffed baked chicken is awesome. Huge hambugers too. And fried boudin balls are quite tasty. Lots of good for the money.
Good eating in and bringing home. I eat at Bergeron's occasionally for lunch. Their speacials are very good and reasonably priced. They have a shop next to the dining area that sells frozen items, freas smoked sausage, etc. I've bought just about everything and cooked at home. It's all excellent! I highly recommend their smoked green onion sausage.

The Name Says it All Really This week we took a short drive from Essen to Lobdell Highway in Port Allen to see what Bergeron's Cajun Meats is all about for lunch. I'd read great reviews about them online and heard good things about their foods to go such as boudin, crackling and specialty meat products such as tasso, hog head cheese, fresh sausage and more.(They have a long list of products offered on their website link which is below) But what I'd also learned is that they offer daily plate lunch specials and an offering of grilled items for the hungry lunch crowd in Port Allen. Like other places right off Interstate in Port Allen you can get there in less than 10 minutes coming from Essen lane so this past Thursday it was time to go see what Bergeron's had . You always know a place is good when it's 11:05am and the place is half full with a line. There's seating for 70 or so people and it's a very large place with lots of space. You walk over to a counter and place an order. We order
