Our experience at the Chop Co was entirely pleasant. Our waitress was delightful and everyone was friendly. My hamburger was cooked exactly the way I ordered it, medium rare. My wife had the perch sandwich and said it was excellent. The prices are reasonable. I would go back if it wasn't 800 miles from home.
We ordered steak dinner and a chicken cashew dinner and both were delicious! Tender and great taste! Oir server was amazing friendly, sense of humor and just all around great personality. Great suggestions helped me pick what I wanted to order as it was our first time. Definitely will be a return customer.
Diamond in the rough here. You need to have a dinner here! New York strip steak dinner was great. So much flavor and tender. Nice atmosphere.
Very great place to have a business sit down or a delicious meal with your family. The NY strip steak was cooked and seasoned exactly how one would expect. Drink list is very well put together and there is no lack of care when putting together a cocktail. Starters are damn near meal portion sized and the bartenders are as friendly as they come. Highly recommended you try this gem. You'd be paying a higher dollar anywhere else for what you'll receive here.
Amazing food and a nice quiet atmosphere. Owner came out to accomodate some allergies for my wife and I, and they nailed the modifications. Would dine again in full confidence.
My son recommended this place so my boyfriend and I went on Valentine's Day we weren't sure we would be able to get a table due to not having reservations but they made room for us! I had the perch sandwich with sweet potatoe fries and my boyfriend got the steak bites for an appetizer and the perch dinner! All of it was very good!!! Will be back for sure to try other menu options
Visited with local friends, while travleing SW michigan recently, who highly recommended Craftsman Chop Co. Welcoming atmosphere freindly staff, combined with excellent food make this a great choice for dinner. The lake perch was my favorite, the slaw was top notch, and the apple sauce was crazy good!! Highly recommend!
A quaint establishment with a lot of potential!
The sign is only visable from one direction, if you're coming from the mall you won't see the sign, and be aware that you turn into another establishments driveway to access thier parking lot.
The customer service had a slow start, even with a sparsely filled dining area. This was improved, once the waitress came and was very attentive after that, but was still a noticable wait for the wine.
The food we had was very good. From the fruit and nut salad with raspberry vinaigrette, to the 12oz NY strip with sauteed onions and mushrooms. Both, the mashed potatoes and gravy and the sweet potato fries (with cinnamon and sugar), complemented the steaks nicely.
We finished off this meal by sharing a slice of the turtle cheese cake, which is DEFINITELY worth your time.
Overall, between the service, food quality, and price, I rate this at 3 and 1/2 stars.
Like my husband said in his review, "a diamond" to us as this was our 1st time here! We & our friends had awesome meals: each one cooked & presented A+++++!!! We went there not knowing what to expect & were totally surprised & our taste buds were WOWED! We don't live close, but we'll be back. Craftsman Chop Co. definitely is in our hearts! My husband and I love the soft ambience here. This is our go to date night place. The mixology is impeccable and the Brussels sprouts are decadent!!!

Ordered a cheeseburger with blue cheese crumbles and fries.
Also side onions and mushrooms, the cook provided a thick sauce to try which is usually served with the black&blue steak. That was a great dipping sauce for the fries.
Anxious to return.
I always liked the Craftsman when we lived in Kzoo and we had the opportunity to have dinner on a trip to Michigan and meet family and friends. A great time and experience. Looking for that similar restaurant just North of Tampa 😊
Excellent food the brussel sprouts small plate appetizer is top notch! Steak and fish dishes are great as well. Strong and tasty bar drinks. We had excellent service from Connie and we are definitely returning and recommending to anyone asking!

Great service, amazing food and drinks. location is perfect, tucked away near the entrance to Crossroads Mall and perfect for a quick get away from the rush of Portage. There is a perfect little table for 2 next to a fireplace that we were luck enough to get.
a little on the pricy side but you get what you pay for. If you want good food, be willing to pay for it.
I've eaten here a couple of times before but just recently they opened on mother's day and I ended up getting the pork platter which was amazing especially with the parmesan brussel sprouts which I highly recommend to anyone wanting to try something new. The wait staff are very kind and the atmosphere is nice it's quite enough that you can have a conversation and not hear another party talking.
Great food!! Awesome attentive , friendly staff. Quickly sat all 22 of us. They were welcoming and took care of us very well. We were celebrating a 90th birthday, and we're allowed to bring a cake. That was great thanks.

Not a bad restaurant .. a couple other people in our group tot the perch sandwiches, which looked fantastic! I would certainly recommend ordering it. I got the steak bites, which were a bit dry and overcooked, so nothing special. The service as fair. Overall a pretty good experience.
