Grub 'n' Brew In Da Zoo
+4.5
Bucky's is a nice little diner-style breakfast joint out near Austin/West Lakes. The food is reasonably good. Omelet and hashbrowns are pretty typical diner fare (albeit smaller portions than I was expecting); nothing to write home about, but solid nonetheless. The pancakes, though, are outstanding. Light, fluffy, well-prepared with that buttermilk pancake flavor I've never been able to duplicate at home.
It's location in a strip mall hurts the atmosphere a bit. It's packed with regulars, and you can eat at the counter, but the layout is such that it still feels like it's in the strip mall that it is. There are other strip mall diners in town that have solved this problem somehow (Nina's, for instance; you forget its location as soon as you walk through the door). Maybe Bucky's just has too much space. Who knows.
Anyway, aside from the pancakes, the other thing that stands out is the service. Polite, attentive, friendly (overheard some references to the regulars by name), and blazingly fast. Honestly, I've waited in line at fast food joints longer than it took my food to come out after I ordered it. I'm guessing the speed of the service is pretty well-known to its regular clientele since I was there on a Sunday morning and there were a couple of families who were obviously there for their BEFORE-church breakfast. You wouldn't ordinarily risk that on a Sunday morning at a popular breakfast joint unless you had some confidence the service wouldn't let you down.
All in all, Bucky's is a great place to hit up if you're in the mood for some quick, delicious pancakes!
The bill was just a hair over $9, but the real plus to Bucky’s is the speed. I was expecting to burn a little more time at breakfast and I was probably in and out in less than twenty minutes. Bucky’s Cafe is a pretty standard breakfast joint serving up pretty standard breakfast fare. Still, the place was packed mid-morning on a Friday and they still turned out plates awfully quickly.
Great people great food what more can you ask for. I come here often with my dad and we have yet to have a bad experience.
Good solid place to go grab breakfast or lunch.
Spacious interior, you will not be cramped or crowded in here.
The patrons, while a ton of regulars, still all made you feel welcome when you came in.
Staff was great! We didn't ever have to ask to have anything refilled or brought to us.
All in all, a solid place to grab some breakfast food with your coworkers before work or family on a weekend.
Nice local place to get a good breakfast. Plenty of room inside. There were plenty of locals that seem to be daily visitors. Food presentation was good and taste was great. Easy access in and out to restaurant.
Good service, wife's corn beef hash was very good. Sausage gravy and biscuits, just ok, not homemade. Raisin toast very good.
Visiting from Texas and so glad we found a FREEDOM loving Cafe. The service was great! The chili was super yummy and all our plates were cleaned off, which means with my kids they loved the food! Thank you for serving us 🇨🇱Texans!! Staff was amazing!!! #NMNP #UnitedWeStand 🇺🇸
Great place, friendly staff. Comfort food.
Friendly staff, decent food, place was busy, they have their hands full! Oddly, the owner was not friendly, when your sitting down at the Cafe bar.and you're waiting for service and she walked up to me, I smiled and then she walked away? Good morning? Need a menu? Have you been waited on? Probably just worn out, just odd when she was chatting with everyone else. Strange. Good place for a quick breakfast, just not much love lol.
Good food and big enough to have a group of people.
Best pan caks I’ve ever had
This review (like most of mine) is not to bash Bucky’s Cafe. However, be mindful, if you base your order by the current online prices - they are wrong. My bill ends up being close to twice as much as I anticipated. Having said that, aside from my hash browns being closer to raw than extra crispy, it was very, very good. The amount of sausage in my omelette was unbelievable, nice big chunks. It was a very good breakfast, hit the spot.
Great value. Service is pretty good. Simple food with low prices. Tables are a little close together.
Amazingly helpful staff that goes above and beyond! Great coffee, friendly atmosphere. I got a coffee to go and I will definitely be back to dine in!
This is not Buckys changed owners acouple months ago! These reviews are from when a different owner owned the place!!! The new owners have done a wonderful job turning this place around! New booths, new chairs new paint colors, new silverware and so much more!!! Come in and see for yourselves!!! Family owned and operated!!!!
