We had a small wedding party there, about 12 people, and brought our own cake. They refrigerated the cake for us until after dinner, then brought it out with a candle on it before taking it back to the kitchen so they could serve it on individual plates. Class act, and the food was great.
My husband and I really liked this place. We showed up without a reservation but we’re seated anyway by the busy but gracious host. Since we are small in stature, the restaurant agreeably accommodated our request to share a salad and entree. Though the wait staff was busy, our server was friendly and we enjoyed talking with her. It was a pleasant evening with an interesting looking crowd of diners and happy hour drinkers. We shared a pasta dish, a delight.

Made. The atmosphere is lovely as is the service. It’s just the right combo of classy yet still relaxed. Not pretentious at all… but they could almost deserve to be. Really love it!
Great food, intimate, laidback atmosphere and excellent service. The pizza was so delicious, I even ate the crust. The cheesecake was light and tasty and the jam on top was sweet, but not overpowering. Definitely looking forward to going again and trying some of their other dishes.
Probably ly the best steak I've had in years. Will be back. Celebrated a birthday with a friend and friends and will be back. More seating would be better, but it was a great experience.
A wonderfully intimate Italian Cafe. Top notch food coupled with a friendly atmosphere. I recommend the brined pork chop and tiramisu. Pick any starter, you can't go wrong.
This was a great place for pasta. The risotto was to die for!!! I was hoping more pasta was made in house, but it is a good option if you're in the area

I want to start out to say the food was amazing. We had the brussel sprouts and carrots as an appetizer.
I had the swordfish and my boyfriend had the lamb stew. The lamb stew was the most wonderful part of the meal for sure with its flavors that blew us away.
The dining experience had much to be improved upon.
The tables were so small (like side tables in a bedroom) that the candle took up 5%of the space and provided so little light to the dim lighting that my photos do not showcase the fine food we had.
We were also sat and one of the tables next to the curtains by the front door. These curtains were thick but not long enough to go to the floor and because of this, when the door opened it blew in cold air under the curtain and blew the curtian to touch our glassware. The server was kind when we brought that to his attention saying new curtains were on order to fix the problem. Which brings to question, why would you still have tables next to those curtains if there has been problems before?
Unfortunately, the expectations for this place were set pretty high. The food rocked but the atmosphere was lacking and table size does matter when the dishes are HUGE.
The food was amazing don’t get me wrong but our waiter was AMAZING!!! This was my second time coming here and the menu was different but everything was still PERFECT! Keep up the great work cafe Mingo!
Delicious high-end Italian food that's not fussy. Very good portion sizes, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!
One of our favorite places in all of Portland. They have fantastic Italian food. They also have great cask aged drinks like Negronis and Manhattans. Their bread is so good it comes with salt and olive oil but leave room for the appetizers and even dessert. They have excellent specials too. Post covid they have a pretty big outdoor space on the sidewalks as well as the same indoor space they have always had. I usually get lasagna because it isn’t something we would usually cook but everything is great we have tried most of it over the years. Also consistently excellent service and many of the same staff members for years. Can’t recommend this place enough.
I had the pasta del giorno. Amazing! it paired perfectly with the house white wine. The flavor of the pasta was just perfectly salted just enough cheese and cream to not overwhelm the flavors of the chicken and tomatoes.
Shared dinner, wine, appetizers, entree & desserts with friends. Food was fabulous! Wonderful servers and owner checked on us and made us feel so welcomed. We would definitely take out of town guests to this establishment. As well as other special occasions. Thank you!!
the best soup, wish they were opened monday! but any other day you can get the best soup there!
This was a small Italian restaurant, with a lovely menu selection. I ordered the special salad with an aioli dressing that was mixed perfectly. The steelhead was moist and cooked to perfection. The deserts were light and perfect for sharing. Next time I go back, I will try the Chef's multi-course meal.
Amazing Italian food… beautiful presentation and to die for flavors.
This cozy little italian restaurant serves up some seriously delicious food. It’s nestled in with all the bars and restaurants in the NW area, and has tons to do within walking distance if you have to wait for a table (which we didn’t). We started with a scallop appetizer which came with grapefruit and was surprisingly delicious?? I got a coffee and wine braised beef sugo with penne and was so happy enjoying each bite. We finished the meal off with tiramisu, of course.. and panna cotta. Both wonderful. Service was great as well!
Very accommodating staff. Gina waited on us and was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about wine. We have frequently enjoyed meals here, only drawback is if you want a hard liquor drink you need to visit Bar Mingo next door (by going outside, no interior passage). We though, enjoyed the specials on the evening with a fabulous bottle of wine Gina recommended. Highly recommend
