So much fun!! They have gluten free and vegan batter which is good but very gelatin-like. The food and toppings are pricey for what you get but the experience also counts. Good mimosa.

We also ordered an item (breakfast burrito) from the kitchen to go with our pancakes. That was really good and we would recommend this place anybody visiting the Portland area.
What a fun place to go to during no school November! Friendly, fast servers and tasty pancakes that you can have fun making. Get the holiday gingerbread batter- it’s great! Short wait at 10 on Thanksgiving Tuesday and with longer waits they will text you when a table is ready.
Finally stopped by and I’m so happy we did! Got there at 9am on a Saturday, no wait. Ordered 2 buttermilk pancake mixes, was pleasantly for 3 adults. Also had bacon to round out the meal. Cold brew iced coffee washed down out blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes!
We’ve been coming here for over 5 years and Slappy Cakes is our favorite pancake spot in Portland!! Heather is authentically welcoming and thorough- she remembers us every time (even set aside items for months our kid left behind!) We are grateful for her smile and spunk!
So I just have to say Thank You, for excellent Customers Service! I choose Slappy Cakes because the restaurant is kid friendly, and I thought oh what fun it would be to have my grandson's 1st birthday there. We had to wait to be seated and wait for our group to be there to be seated. But the wait for our food was not really a wait at all. I say within 10 minutes we were making pancakes at our table. And making my own pancakes at that with my grandson was just amazing. We all had fun it was an amazing experience. Thank you, Slappy Cakes. You have an impeccable team.
This was the most unique and tasty experience ever! The service was great and the DIY pancakes was incredibly fun. We also ordered side of eggs, bacon, and sausage which were also tasty. YOU MUST TRY THIS PLACE!
Omg, what a great place to have a family or cozy breakfast date. The food looked so good with the smell of bacon frying and aromatic coffee brewing made me feel like I was home. What makes this place unique is the grill on the table for its patrons to cook their pancakes, or sit at the bar and have them cooked for you. This place is very popular - so go with time to spare. Great service and food is prepared from starch with quality ingredients. I loved it and will be back for more.

This is such a cute and fun brunch spot in SE! Came on a Saturday morning and got seated pretty quickly. The staff was super friendly, the food and cocktails were delicious… but most of all we LOVED the pancake making stations and all of the toppings! 10/10 will go back soon

Much fun to go and have our own little griddle! My wife and I have been trying to come to this place for a while but there’s always a wait! We’ll today we said no matter how long we are going to go and I’m glad we did. The wait was only 10-15min for the two of us. We had the buttermilk batter, side of bacon, and a side of eggs. I also got the seasonal drink, the Dirty Snowman which was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!
Been here 3 times and every time has been a very tasty experience. Their December flavor is gingerbread. The flavor is spectacular! Their staff has always been very lovely! Thank you for the great times!
Everything here was so delicious. I got the lavender lemonade which had the perfect balance of lemonade and lavender, the turkey bacon because I don't like real bacon but it tasted exactly like real bacon except with the turkey taste. Delicious🤌. And then me and my family got two bottles of chocolate and vanilla batter Plus a bunch of toppings. The experience was so fun and so worth it the pancakes were absolutely delicious and super fun to draw on the grill. 🥞🥓
All of the staff were so welcoming and kind. My 5 year old loved making his own pancakes at the table. Honestly, the novelty of the griddle at the table would have been enough, but the food was so delicious! I got the tofu breakfast, and the flavor was wonderful. It was a super fun experience and tasty food! I would highly recommend!
This the the best breakfast experience ever. The pancakes were delicious and so much fun to make. We got the vegan batter and one serving was more than enough for two people. There are tons of options for toppings and if you're not a pancake person they have other things like eggs, potatoes, sausages etc. They even have cocktails which was a pleasant surprise. Definitely make reservations unless you ok with a pretty long wait.
Brunch menu is great, food is plentiful and delicious, allowing for substitutions or dietary restrictions, service is excellent (attentive but not hovering). It's very loud inside, due to high ceilings and music that drowns out conversation (I'm old and a bit hard of hearing). Option to cook one's own pancakes at the table griddle was likely more fun for kids than for seniors. Kelsey and Heather were very helpful in pointing out options for substituting items. Wonderful diverse fruit bowl and mushroom scramble! Kudos from the Aunt Colony!
super fun place with a griddle in the middle. we did the pecans, blueberries, and lemon curd. OK THE LEMON CURD????? yes. hint #2 = get the side of the house made jam. that went PERFECTLY together (came with our english muffin but the jam went onto the pancakes)
We absolutely love coming here! The staff is super friendly and we love getting to see them. Pancakes are a must! But they also have amazing dishes as well. This is our favorite spot to get brunch. It’s really fun for the little ones to. In the warmer days they have chalk while you wait you can draw on the side walk. Thanks for always being amazing!!
This place is well versed in pleasing the whole family. Kids love the option to make fun and creative designs with Slappys table top griddles while offering a tasty and needed adult beverage for the parents. The bartenders who most often serve me without any kiddos, make me feel welcome and know how to make a drink. The manager has gone above and beyond every time I'm there. Meeting new patrons and remembering regular guests to make their dining experience that much more unique and special. The pancakes from the kitchen and batter for DIY is consistent and delicious, the Benedict is by far my favorite. Overall the service, food, and atmosphere will keep me coming back time and again.
