It may be cliche, and, eat dessert first!!! The pumpkin mousse and the (quasi-deconstructed) chocolate cake with darian fruit were the most delicious, creative and sublime desserts I have ever experienced!!!! In addition to all the “historical reasons” for visiting this (now) iconic Portland, Oregon restaurant, the amazing service (Christal was superb!!) and high floor vantage point overlooking beautiful Portland made this a perfect place for a business meeting!

Incredible views of course, spicy tuna roll and chicken skewers were amazing, small quantity like a "sample" size but excellent flavor.. Atmosphere is like a walk in star wars for the lighting in bathrooms and decor.. Highly recommend!!

The whole experience was top notch from the service & presentation, all the way down to the delicious dishes and cocktails ! We would highly recommend this lovely rooftop restaurant in downtown Portland !

Delicious happy hour and dinner menus! We tried many items and loved them all. Same thing goes for the drinks! Our server was educated on the menu, helpful, kind... All around great service from the whole team! We really enjoyed our dinner and time spent here.

My boyfriend took me here on Halloween for our fourth Anniversary. Hands down best restaurant experience! Love the heated roof top balcony, bar, and service. They made sure to seat us at a window seat! The food suggestions our waiter made were great, and for the desert we weren't too excited about she took it back and exchanged it with their delicious chocolate ash cake. We had the red snapper and it was delicious! Excited to make over there again soon.

Its a must and while you are there sit out side it is amazing! Do the chefs imperial meal, with the wine parring! Start with pork belly and Depearture wings, Hirahmi beef skirt steak cooked on Japanese perrified charcoal, miso scallops and tom kim soup. Our wine tasting was a local pino gris and a local pinot nior... and finished with some rose bubblies and two tasty deserts! I will go again if i ever fo pack to Oregon.

Ben and the staff were amazing! They accommodated to every dietary food and beverage need. The food was also delicious and views just added to it. Definitely recommend.

Portland is a fairly well know foodie destination and I tried several restaurants and found Departure in the downtown area to be quite good. The curried carrot salad was my favorite but also enjoyed the crispy pork belly. A fine cocktail adds to the experience.

Absolutely everything was impeccable even the drinks were legit, not only did they taste good, there was actually a good amount of alcohol in it. The food evem down to the rice was perfection. Also the besr deal money wise for Portland dining month

One of my favorite spots to take people who are visiting the city. The staff are all very kind and knowledgeable of their wines/liquors/drafts/plates. On a Friday or weekend evening make sure you preemptively make a reservation… if not you can likely walk in and get a spot at the bar which still serves full menu. As per recommendation, and the most popular plates happened to be the Departure Wings and Pork Belly. The wings fell right off the bone and had an amazing texture to them. The sauce was light, but nothing special (4/5). The pork belly was fantastic… beautifully cooked, and nearly melts in your mouth. The sauce was fantastic, and didn’t take over the pork taste (5/5). The hallway to the rooftop bar lounge has an incredibly intimate atmosphere. The restaurant has a fun futuristic feel to it. I highly recommend this spot and will likely go back again to explore the menu further like the sushi and dim sum.

Everything was awesome great dinner rooftop experience . This is my first time visiting with my husband he’s been here before wanted to show me a good time. Everyone was very nice especially our server Daniel. I loved the fun, energetic positive attitude. Daniel definitely made our night and is hilarious. The food was amazing we had sushi tried the beef skewers and finished with the grilled steak entree. Oh let me not forget I tried the vanilla bean cheesecake which is dairy free simply deli-scrumptious lol . Thanks everyone for making our night will be back soon as we come back to visit.

I had such a great time here. I got the experience, which included 3 meals for $50. I got the Tom Kha soup 1st. It was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it. Then I got the wings. They are so crispy & flavorful. Cooked to a perfection, they come right off the bone. My entree I got was the Pad Thai with Tofu. It was a good amount, to where I had leftovers to take home. My desert was the Passion Fruit Panna Cotta. It was the best dessert I’ve ever tasted. It just melts in your mouth. Love coming here. The food & drinks are always top notch!

My friend made a reservation here for my birthday and it was AMAZING . The service was very prompt and food is brought out in a timely manner . We sat outside on the rooftop area and its great for picture opportunities. I enjoyed the three course menu($65 for three course, $80 four course) because we all got to try a bit of everything which was once again AMAZING . Will definitely be back again .

I love the atmosphere and the food was interesting. The server was first rate, but seemed over worked. Too many tables for one waiter. I loved my starter salad and my lobster was perfectly cooked. So was my chicken Katsu.

This has been one of my favorite rooftops in the city for years. I have had the majority of the menu items they are all delicious. The service team is always knowledgeable and friendly. They have a fantastic bar program. The view is gorgeous and makes for a lovely and impressive date option.

I previously had a reservation with my husband on the 22nd, but got a concussion morning of so we finally got in to celebrate my birthday dinner. Was seated immediately upon entering (we had a reservation). Water promptly delivered, and our order was taken as soon as we were ready. The server gave excellent suggestions (do a yelp review to get a free appetizer/small plate). I ordered a raspberry lemon shrub zero proof cocktail (super tasty and would order again), which loved the bamboo vs. paper straws and lighter on the ice in a tall glass. My husband got a Penicillin cocktail. A+ on the stamped clear ice; tasty as well. The Tom Kha was one of the better ones I've had n had some floral notes at the end, i was still trying to pin it, but ah yes, Thai basil. The oysters, well balanced, complimented with shiso and apple. Sushi choice was spicy tuna poke roll and crunchy crab roll. Yes, yes and more yes on that. Best surprise, real wasabi, not colored horseradish like most sushi joints use (probably because it does not keep well at all, so it is understandable). I got mapo tofu mazeman noodles. OMG phenomenal and my husband got the halibut, which was perfectly cooked and not overdone. Thank goodness! All in all, everything was completely wonderful. Hanna was the perfect server and really gave us exemplary service. Management was gracious with a very important matter as well. We will definitely come back and have everything positive to say about this establishment. I think we may even stay at the Nines; cute hotel!

Great experience. This place is different. Must come at least once. Staff friendly and attentive. Food is tasty. Quality food. Everything I’ve tasted Great. Well done Chef and team. Our server forgot 2 items but all is forgive and we will be back! The only thing I didn’t like was the Coconut cheesecake with nuts, Thai basil and cherry yuzu ice cream. The coconut was on bland side and the cherry ice cream was very tart, overpowering. Wasn’t a balanced flavor. I think a mango, taro or even green tea ice cream would of balanced out this dessert.

The Sashimi was so fresh and you can never go wrong with the Departure Wings. Of course the rooftop views are a nice bonus but it can get kinda dark inside the restaurant. We stuck to some classic cocktail…. Cosmopolitan, Hunter's Verdict & Rambeaux PN.

The views of Downtown Portland are beautiful!! I was here for a work event and we had a time! The drinks were good, food was great but the views at sunset really did it!!

Cool roof top bar/restaurant at the Nines hotel located on the top floor. Went there for a cocktail and enjoyed the great views and sunset. Order at the bar, grab a seat and just chill out.

My husband and I have been here twice and both times the food was exceptional and the service is great. What prompted me to write a review though was our server, Jesse, who waited on us for my husband's birthday. He was extremely attentive, entertaining, had great suggestions, and overall just a great waiter. Jesse suggested the steak dim sum for the experience and it was divine. The servers and bussers were also on top of their game that night. The food was something else. Everything was so delicious and every drink was perfect. I'm already day dreaming about the next time I'll be able to go! Keep up the good work.
