It’s rare that my best friend and I get to splurge - we couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate her birthday! The food was amazing, give the salmon a try, and the mint chocolate torte was to die for. On top of that, even though she was busy, the waitress was kind and attentive in spite of the rude comments of the table next to us. Highly recommended!
My all time favorite restaurant on NW 23rd Street. Our recent visit we ordered two entree’s. Salmon and risotto. So delicious. I like sitting outside listening to the music and people watching. The service is great. Don’t skip the desserts or take out for later. Thank you Papa Hayden’s.

As always the food and the service are excellent.
I have yet to find another restaurant with better tasting (and beautiful) desserts. I could probably just eat their delicious bread and butter, skip dinner, go straight to dessert.
Yes, this place is everything everyone says it is - terrific soups, spectacular desserts, great coffee and wine pairing options. However, just as important, the servers and staff are polite and friendly and seem genuinely pleased to work there. Speaks to the management / owners. Well done! A+

Great food. Warm wonderful atmosphere, especially by the fireplace. Best drinks & desserts in town. Nice wait staff. Fun neighborhood on NW23rd with lots of little shops.

Great brunch to brighten a dreary day. So glad I made a reservation (although I needed to call to confirm). Dessert first, since the muffin, pistachio cakes, and brioche were such tasty treats. Great Bloody Mary’s. Delicious hash and omelet. Terrific server. We will be back!
Amazing desserts and great service.
Only downside and not worthy of a down-star is the small waiting area. To over come this and the 1 hour+ wait, lots of bars nearby.

Come here for a special occasion! Service is excellent, food is delicious, and you can’t go wrong with their cake. I got the mushroom risotto and it was so flavorful, their burgers are also really tasty. My family has been going here for over 20 years and it never disappoints. Make sure to get a reservation in advance. I also love stopping by just to get a quick piece of cake!
Very tasty! Although not everyone was formally dressed, I thought I would have been more comfortable slightly more dressed up than tshirt and jeans. My sandwich was perfect and the dessert, divine
Update: Food was still spectacular! My friend’s pork was perfectly cooked, and not dry! The combination of flavors was perfect. I got the chicken sandwich and it really was the best I’d ever had! We both saved room for dessert! She had the apricot cake and I had the passion dessert mouse. Both were lovely! The servers were friendly, but we did have to wait 20 minutes even though we had reservations. They accidentally had made four reservations for the same time, but we were the only party that had to wait.

The service was so much better. No wait with our reservation, and they remembered to write Happy Birthday on my cake. I love the outside seating!
The food is always fantastic here! Love the large outdoor patio dining. Staff are very friendly and professional. Desserts are scrumptous!!! Treat yourself.
We came for my moms birthday last night and had a great time!
Only trouble was my mom ordered her salmon well done and it came out almost raw the first time. The server apologized profusely and fixed it but it took 20 minutes to get the second dish out so she had to wait awhile to eat.
Really loved the food once everything was correct, we had pork belly mushroom risotto and the pear salad with salmon.
Great place for dessert but we had cake waiting at home! Love this place and will be coming again!
The AC was out while we were here on a 90 degree day. The whole place was empty yet they sat us right next to the kitchen likely making our experience much hotter. I was ready to leave but our waitress was so charming and engaging that we stayed. Honestly she is who turned it around for me, but she did say the AC goes out every summer, so something to be aware of because they don't warn you when you arrive. The food was decent but who are we kidding we came for dessert which didn't disappoint. The chocolate cake is so amazing, the lemon chiffon isn't bad either. But if you just want a little something try the cherry bomb.
One of my all time favorites. I had the ravioli and it was so delicious. I really like the lemon in it. I also had the lemon chiffon cake, it was very rich! Also amazing. Highly recommend this place and their cakes.

Came here for the first time since the pandemic for anniversary lunch while kiddo was at school! Why has it taken us so long to come back? Food (I had the steak, husband had the pork tenderloin) were fantastic. Perfectly cooked and so flavorful! But dessert is the main star at PH, and it did not disappoint at all. We ordered the Passion to share after some back and forth. Phenomenal! Sweet but tangy and all the textures together are pure bliss! And, they now offer a vegan desert option if that is needed! We will be back!
We took a wedding cake sample to go ordered ahead so we could decide on a cut cake and the range of flavors was great! We have it narrowed down for our tastes

I had Buche de Noel which was very good, I like the fresh tangerine🍊taste, and the tangerine skin they added on top was really good, I think they should just make a special tangerine skin dessert!

We hired Papa Haydn for our wedding of sub 100 guests and we couldn't have been happier. Working with Ashley was quick and easy and the desserts were not only delicious but very affordable as well. Many guests commented on how they would love to order from them in the future. We were very happy with their services and will certainly be ordering from them in the future.
Not living in Portland, I'd forgotten how wonderful this place is. I was there with a friend last night. The desserts were terrific. The ambiance was perfect for a nice catch-up conversation. And our server was attentive, friendly, and fun. Can't ask for much more than that. It has definitely moved into the "go to" place for future visits to Portland.

Absolutely amazing! Everything we had was magical! The salad was beyond delicious!! I didn’t know salad could even taste that good! We had the seasonal pork chop and the salad and bruschetta! The mojito was so good! I never get them because I don’t like mint but my friend ordered it and had a sip and i would absolutely order it for myself next time!! We ended with the lemon cake and it was so light and not heavy! We will definitely be back
Outstanding! Always enjoy an excellent meal at this wonderful neighborhood establishment. Do not skip dessert it’s the best reason to eat at Papa Haydn! Highly recommend the fondue for a start, (to share), bring your appetite!

Dinner night and first time here, u do have to make reservation, patio seating was nice but little cold, French onion soup and hunter pasta were good but don’t pay extra for shrimps, bread basket with very good butter. We like the butter more than the bread. Dessert were yummy, carrot cake was good , not too sweet if u don’t eat too much icing, cheesecake topped with blackberries was creamy with a lot of blackberries, cafe chocolate brownie, my nephew said it was good but tasted like chocolate covered with Costco and very sweet. Service was ok, it seems like one server running around.
We made a reservation for Papa Haydn's at 7:30 for a Saturday night. The reservation was for a table of seven and they were prepared for us. We each ended up getting desserts separately and it was fantastic. It's a great place to grab a really tasty dessert and they have an awesome selection of desserts as well. If you do end up going make sure you get reservations as there were people waiting on a Saturday night as you might expect.
This place makes legendary deserts! But that's not all, the food is SO good. The shrimp bisque was amazing. Don't forget the German chocolate cake :-P oh, and they have a full bar.

Enjoyed the daily special French Onion soup and it reminded me of the soups I would have in Paris.

They have great cheesecake so I would recommend getting that. I had the lemon curd cake and that was super light and fresh.
