We were visiting Portland for a family wedding and found Southland Whiskey Kitchen the first night in town. Our waiter, Kevin was absolutely the best! ! Friendly, knowledgeable, and great to talk with. The food was exceptional as well as the whiskey drinks. We were able to visit the restaurant 3 times while we were there, being from South Carolina, BBQ is a staple in our diet, and this place didn't disappoint us at all. We also were blessed to have Kevin as our waiter two of the three times. He recommended food and drinks that were phenomenal.

Decided to have them cater our work lunch as it is a personal fave for those of us in the beer biz. Just had them make and deliver some fried chicken (hot and crispy!), potato salad (fresh and delicious!!), pulled pork with buns and sauce to make sandwiches (Smokey and flavorful!!!) and coleslaw (perfect topping or side with the pulled pork and fried chicken!!!!). Great food, great service. Fed and satisfied 42 beer reps!! Highly recommend. HUGE thanks to the SWK team and chef � James Layton!
I was introduced to this place awhile back and the place has only disappointed me once when they stopped putting brisket in the Bloody Mary. Otherwise food and service always on point
Food was great. Husband had special, ribeye, I had Chicken Pot Pie soup which was delicious, my son had a chicken sandwich with bacon and Cajun fries. Nice atmosphere with friendly service. Re-Filled our drinks without us asking. Would recommend it.

this place will be on the top five list when I move here. Great food, the whiskey honey butter is over the top, brisket melt in your mouth and perfectly flavored.
We own a BBQ Catering business and we can be hard to please... But Southland Whiskey Kitchen achieved it! Sooo good! Have to say the fried chicken mat be the best we've ever had! Service was excellent, sides were awesome, dessert exceptional. We will be back!

Enjoyed every bite. My friend and I literally had to force ourselves to stop eating so we didn't over-do it!! This was a beautiful restaurant and fantastic food!! We will be back.
Been the SWK a few times now, and haven't been more happy with the quality of the meals. Prices are reasonable, and the food is very flavorful, and melts in your mouth good! Look forward to returning again in the very near future!

Food could be a bit warmer and potatoes and Mac n cheese could use more cheese sauce.
Service was fast and attentive. The atmosphere is also charming and cozy. Closing hours seem to be variable though so check ahead of time.
While being fairly new to the area and searching for a place to be a regular at, Southland was my first stop, and coincidentally, my last stop. From excellent food, personable and welcoming staff, to an atmosphere that I find unrivaled in the area, this place is my go to and has rapidly evolved into a second home. I find myself sharing filling meals with friends, having great conversations with staff, finding a muse for writing in solitude, and expanding my self proclaimed talent as a whiskey aficionado. Some of the best selection anywhere in Portland. If you're looking for a quick bite, or a long evening in good company, look no farther.

We had the salmon board and cornbread appetizers, I had the fried chicken and my husband had smoked brisket and pulled pork with coleslaw and augratin potato sides.
Everything was perfectly prepared and so delicious, simply put it's mouthwatering!!
Extra kudos if you know how they pickle their green beans... and can tell me!!! Because I could eat about a million of those tasty little beans every day!! Such good food, we'll definitely be going back for more!!

Quality spot you’re exploring the west side and need a HH to rest and refuel while hopping around. Also, service was hella quick and they have music on Saturday starting around 6.
Can’t speak to much else but for this purpose it’s worth a stop.
Nice vibe, friendly staff. My friend and I both got the fried chicken, sooo good. Crispy skin and flavor throughout, we finished everything! Cornbread was sweet and great crust! Will be back to try more.
