My husband and I recently went here for a nice date night and everything was excellent. Their ambiance is adorable, the service warm and friendly, and the food is heavenly. They did a great job accommodating gluten free requests, and we were able to order almost anything on the menu. Their price point is SO reasonable for the quality and portion of food. We will add this to our regular rotation of nice date night places.
My first visit today. So happy to find a real French bistro! My cassoulet was divine. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced menu and wine list. Our server was great too. A new "must go" place for us!
I went to Bergerac last Saturday night and had a blast. The food was delicious (I highly recommend the duck), the waitress was really sweet and knowledgeable. I got the chance to meet Joris at the end of this lovely evening. Amazing time.
Had lunch there with a friend today (5/8/2018) - excellent food that was beautifully prepared, and the best coffee in Portland. Great service, very reasonable prices. A gem of a neighborhood restaurant.
I highly recommend the beet salad - absolutely delicious!! A companion had something else that looked equally as good. Can't wait to go back and explore more items on the menu. The service was excellent and decor was lovely!
Superb red wine selection, amazing sea bass dish and impeccable service. A must visit to this hidden gem on Woodstock!
All I can say is damn good at a very reasonable price. Thank you chef and owner.
Excellent dining experience. The menu is varied and interesting, offering meat, seafood and vegetarian options. Our party of three enjoyed entrees of black cod, the filet of beef and the duck confit. The appetizer salad and the mussels marniere were good as well. The duck was our favorite and was incredibly succulent. The portions were large and both of the wines were well priced and delicious. The room has a beautiful ambiance and the service was attentive and friendly.

Excellent restaurant! Highly recommend for good, service and atmosphere. Escargot are parfait! Take out items done with special care. Thank you!
This place is a super cute little French restaurant! Complete with traditional French music, amuse-bouche and escargot. All of the food we had was fantastic and deliciously prepared. I have had great escargot before and I have had bad (there is a huge difference between the two). The escargot here was amazing and perfectly melted in your mouth. We also ordered the mushroom ragu which was perfect! The server was super friendly, professional and very attentive. Since this was our second stop of the evening, we didn't have a chance to taste through the entire menu...yet. (Typically when exploring new places, we like to go to a few in one night and try multiple things in order to determine if we would like to return for a bigger experience). We have had a hard time finding a good French restaurant in the Portland area, so we were pleasantly surprised with our experience. We will definitely will be visiting this place again. We have only been here one time (11/2022), but I will update my review on our next visit!
My husband and I ate here on our 23rd anniversary. The food was amazing! The service was great.
I ate things I had not had before (pate/duck confit) and was blown away. I normally need to add salt to food but this was seasoned perfectly, never even thought to ask for a salt shaker!? The crème brûlée was the best I ever had.
I highly recommend this place for a special or any occasion! We will be back.
The food was incroable! I highly recommend coming here! I had the beef, and my husband had the duck. My youngest had the escargot, and they were the best we’ve ever had
Small place but great food, super friendly staff.
We had a wonderful meal at this bistro earlier this evening. Service was expert and friendly, we felt very welcomed. The food was perfectly prepared and presented, absolutely delicious: escargot, pate, duck confit, Alaskan salmon, peach ice cream. We're only sorry that we're flying home to Connecticut tomorrow and so can't go again! Highly recommend Bergerac.
4 stars because my server was not professional.
Appetizers pâté are super yummy!
Wine list is not big but it was fine!
Very busy weekend need reservations many days before.
I still can't believe we are lucky enough to have such a sublime French restaurant as Bergerac Bistro, tucked away in the heart of Woodstock! This is my second visit, and it was just aa perfect as the first.
What else can I say? The wine selection is a treat, the duck confit is heaven in your mouth, the escargot is the perfect balance of butter and herbs and earthiness.
I always order the house pate, which is my favorite. But I've never had a bite that wasn't amazing, including the fish of the day, braised lamb, and the cassoulet.
The addition of the amise bouche is delightful-it was scallops aioli on our most recent visit. And don't skip dessert!
What an amazing treat to enjoy this one of a kind gem in Woodstock.
Wonderful! We love the food, the vibe, and the wine! Classic french country style dishes. This is our go to "occasion" restaurant because it's reliable, affordable, and the experience is always wonderful!
Superb! Made same day reservations for an impromptu dinner out.
Chef sent out a frothed pea appetizer. Nice.
Homemade Blackberry vodka with strawberry vermouth, yum!
I learned about maple flavored 'shrooms. Picture shows candy cap drizzle.
Great service!
I had the duck and the flan. It was so good! House pinot noir, I think it's from Kings Raven Winery. It was really smooth.
Graceann was my server. She was so sweet, knowledgeable and comfortable. She made me feel like I was in my element.
A great Portland experience.
This was a great neighborhood restaraunt. Only about 10-12 tables, but it doesn't feel crowded. Full bar and great French wine selection. Dinner was excellent. From the simplicity of the tomato salad, to the richness of the baked cheese plate, to our entrees, everything was well prepared and flavorful. Service was friendly and prompt. Also, the price points are a really great value given taste and portion size. Wine list reasonably priced as well.
Delicious, homestyle french cuisine served in prix fixe style. We spent our one month in Portland anniversary here and it was absolutely amazing! Rich, buttery snails, crusty warm bread, roasted lamb were all paired with vibrant sauces. The food, along with the warm bistro-vibe made this place a wonderful place to enjoy this treat of a meal with a nice glass of wine. Oh and Michelle, our server, was awesome!
I love the dining experience my wife and I shared here. She had a mid-week reservation and we nearly had the restaurant to ourselves. We both had the duck, which came as almost a castle form with moat of jus, and was one of the most delicious meal I've had. Just perfect, and plate licking good.
Very nice French food. I enjoyed the kir royal. The duck was tender and had great mustard and onion accompaniments. The creamed mushrooms were very tasty. We'll definitely go back!
Small little French spot, we sat outside and we were not seated quickly, I usually don't care for olive tapenade, but there's was amazing! The food on the other hand was ok. Was expecting more flavor and depth in the food but it wasn't there.
