Got the Korean Style Ribs, was a very delicious roast, but the sides were fairly basic, plain rice and a fairly average mac salad. The staff are amazing, jovial and well tending. The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly, but a bit darker in lighting, over all pretty nice though.
My family came here for lunch on a Friday. It wasn't too crowded and we didn't have trouble finding parking.
Service was great!
For two adults and one child, it cost us about $45. The plates were very full, I feel like we certainly got our money's worth in amount and flavor.
This place was so good. I had a combo plate because I couldn’t decide on just one! Food definitely tastes like it’s just from the island…with so much flavor! And the menu overall looked delicious! The service was amazing too they was so nice to our kids they have great people working here. It’s our first time coming here and we will definitely be back.
Came for lunch, and my daughters birthday, also wanted to donate some $$ for Maui recovery as I know the owner is from the Lahaina area. Wasn't crowded at all, outdoor seating is available, but we chose to eat in. The staff was friendly, and efficient, and the food was done right. The room was decorated as you'd expect a Hawaiian establishment to be (colorful, Tikis, and surf boards).
I had a small combo plate with Guava Teriyaki Chicken, and Kalua Pork, Rice and Mac Salad, my wife had the Veggie Pan Grill with Shoyu Chicken, rice, and green salad. Large portions, we had to take some home.
The only constructive criticism I have is that my daughter wanted a burger for her birthday, and what she got was a patty and a bun, no condiments, but she's 5, and didn't seem to mind.
And, hopefully they'll bring desserts back sometime soon.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.
We've been coming here for many years. They have a room that's good for large parties. Service is usually good. Food is great unless the fire gets away from them. It happens. We keep coming back. It's probably because the mac salad has a hold on us😉
The burger was so yummy but it was kinda confusing on how we ordered cause we didn't get menus at all
We dined in as a party of 6. The ambiance of this place is delightful. Very great murals, lighting and gives a distinct hawaiian vibe. All of our food came out at the exact same time and it was all nice and hot. It comes in plastic boxes so it's Easy to take home or eat on the go if you want. Waitress was so nice and attentive even though they were getting a lot of phone calls. My kihei ribs were slightly chewy but had great flavor, and the teriyaki chicken / sauce was delightful. My wife said that her shoyun chicken was the best chicken dish she had ever had in her life. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we even got free cupcakes for dessert, imported from the islands themselves! A little on the expensive side but the portions were hefty. We will come here again if we end up back in Portland!
This spot is great for people who are gluten-free. Their house-made soy sauce is gluten-free, so nearly everything on the menu is gluten-free besides the mac salad, yakisoba, and lumpia. We were able to sub out the Mac salad for a side salad that was a generous bowl of mixed greens. As people who are gluten-free, teriyaki is something we don’t normally eat unless we make it ourselves. They’re food was delicious and the portions were generous. They also had a nice & covered outdoor patio where we could sit with our dog. Overall wonderful and we can’t wait to come back and try other items on the menu!
Really great food and a nice space, even had outdoor seating which would be nice in the summer. It’s counter service and they bring you the food in to-go containers, which I actually think is a smart move because their portions are large and you’ll need one anyways, but also that cuts down on dishes which means they don’t have to have as much staff which is necessary for small businesses right now to keep costs lower and the doors open. I respect that. It’s not to say they weren’t staffed, because all our needs were met in that regard, just that I see the advantage from a business perspective. Anyways, good food and a good place to check out.
While working in the area I could smell their food two blocks away and had to try it. Lots to choose from on the menu and the food and portions are very good.
Update: 4/25/22
I love coming to this place. It's got the best Hawaiian food around. Tonight I ordered the poke appetizer and the combo platter of Kihei ribs and ribeye beef. Came with rice and they're fabulous mac salad... unbeknownst to me they had a back room. Decorated with Under the Sea themes . From pufferfish and glass globes, starfish and fish netting. I enjoyed sitting back there made me Miss Islands..
Always great food... Patio seating available when the weather is nice.. kip ching had the ribs and Mac salad.. he loves his mac salad .
The food here is so yummy, I particularly like the passion fruit bbq sauce chicken with rice and macaroni salad. Everyone who works here is also well versed in the menu and will answer any questions without hesitation along with being friendly. They’re also extremely quick here and you don’t usually wait more than 5-10mins for a piping hot plate of food. It’s become a weekly pit stop on my way home from my stroll along willamette park.
It was so good, my husband just walked back in to order more. The short ribs were delicious omg
The food here is always FANTASTIC. So fantastic that I even took a plate across country, over 2000 miles and ate it for dinner. I always get the combo platter. This time I got the Korean chicken and teriyaki pork. In the past, I’ve had the kalia pig and teriyaki chicken. The macaroni salad is so good! I love that they put a bed of cabbage on the bottom, and it soaks up the yummy sauces and wilts a little. The flavors are so umami and complex. The right amount of sweetness, the right amount of salt, fluffy white rice, macaroni salad that breaks up the salt. *chefs kiss*
This place is a treasure. I decided to go all out. Got a medium combination platter of the teriyaki chicken and Korean ribs. Came with rice and Hawaiian pasta salad. It was 10/10. I also got a Long Island (or maybe it was called Hawaiian but you get the gist) iced tea. Awesome. My friend got a piña colada. I just can’t wait to go back. I’ll be eating this platter for at least 4 meals.
I love this place been hitting them up 2 days a week! Their Kalua Pig is on point! Funny I just came home from Hawaii and I ate Kalua pig in a couple places and I was like how can the pig be better in Portland?? Crazy their staff is super nice too! Great overall experience Mahalo for the Ono Grinds!!!!
The food here is always amazing. You can tell they make everything themselves. Gluten free soy sauce in the sauces. Very clean establishment with friendly staff.
Food is really good and the portions are big. A large grind plate is enough for three easily and four for lighter appetites. Definitely an add to our restaurant list. We got the kalua pig and teriyaki beef. So good.
I enjoy eating here. It has a fun family atmosphere and great food. Parking is on the street which can be a challenge.
