Nearly everything at Grain & Gristle was perfect, and it was such a lovely experience. The French press coffee came with a timer, the chocolate madelaines were tender and gorgeous, the board with cheeses, fruit, a hard boiled egg, pastries, and meats was to die for. Great service!
I'm only removing a star because I had the Only the Best-O and my partner had the Bowl with Puy lentils, and they were almost identical. Plus, half his veggies were burned (we're talking charcoal black carrots) and the white of my egg was mostly uncooked. Had we only ordered these, we would have been massively disappointed.
Fortunately, we were with other people so got to taste a big variety of dishes. I will definitely go back but will be sure to favor the fresher options with salads rather than roasted vegetables.
Quaint NE Portland neighborhood restaurant with a unique brunch menu! The atmosphere was fun and the service good. I love to share plates and I got savory and sweet bites. The Cavendish is an amazing Nutella Stuffed French Toast with bananas cinnamon rum Carmel and hazelnuts! What a great dish to share. I also split a great burger that was so flavorful with very tasty pickles, blue cheese and bacon. I am definitely looking forward to another visit!
Fantastic!! My wife and I were in town for a comedy show and grabbed breakfast before leaving home and couldn’t be happier with our choice! Food was top shelf, all of the ingredients were fresh, their hot apple cider is the best I’ve ever had and my coffee came out in my own french press. Highly recommended!!
Took my mom here for her birthday brunch, which fell on Black Friday. Made a reservation, just in case. There were a couple tables available, but it’s a small joint.
The food was amazing! I had the Reubenedict. It was glorious! Our server was wonderful. I’ll be back for sure!
Brunch was great! The pastries were good, even if the price was a little high. The bacon and eggs were excellent - the bacon was not too crispy, which I prefer. Tasty mimosas. My friend loved the Benedict. Bonus points for being able to make a reservation.
Great brunch spot with very friendly staff and fantastic brunch food. Everything has wonderful flavors and great presentation - I can’t stop thinking about their cinnamon roll with whipped cream cheese and eggs Benny with brioche toast. Definitely don’t miss out. Make a reservation if you can
G & G is a top notch brunch spot. If you're in Portland, please do yourself a favor and go! Amazing food and great staff. Only thing to consider, you should make reservations. Enjoy!
Everything was SO good. Including the service which made you feel like family. We didn't even remember to take a picture of the house charcuterie plate because we couldn't wait to dive in... but with just 2 of us, there were plenty of leftovers for an appetizer tonight at home!
Wow! Such amazing brunch. You can't tell from the photo, but my shortstack had glitter on them. I love it when a place gives you fresh french roast coffee so much. Completely blown away by the quality of food and friendliness of the staff.
I have already gone here twice this week. The food is AMAZING. Such good quality and you can taste the difference of it being local. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth every penny. Can take a little bit for food to come out but I’m not the kind to rush.
The burger is definitely the best I’ve had. And the brunch menu milkman... oh man. They have perfected the flavors on all the dishes I have tried. Would recommend waffles, milkman, burger!
