A decent German restaurant/pub is a tricky thing to find outside of obvious places like Leavenworth, WA, but Prost! manages to fill that niche quite nicely, without requiring a five hour drive into the middle of Washington! Prost! also serves as the anchor to a fantastic food cart pod on the north end of Mississippi avenue, and shares its outdoor patio space with its less permanent neighbors.
With a solid selection of beers (German or otherwis); excellent food (both the Bier Cheese Soup and the Pretzel Sandwich are to die for!); competent, efficient, friendly and PROMPT service (our order arrived tableside in a handful of minutes, despite the place being full-to-bursting); and a warm and inviting venue both inside and out; one of the most authentic, unpretentious, and casual friendly Oktoberfest celebrations within city limits; and all of this crammed within the wall of a cozy, friendly, slightly claustrophobic pub that wouldn't be out of place on a Berlin street corner, Prost! really is the best of the wurst, and one of liveliest, and most convivial watering holes this side of Deutschland...or at least the North Cascades!
Great selection of German beer! Yummy pretzel, lovely low lighting, delicious Germaine food. I wish they had A bigger selection!!! Great place to hangout and eat while trying a new brew on tap.
Great spot for German food! Made me nostalgic for the food my Oma makes. I ordered the smoked bratwurst and my brother ordered the currywurst, both were delicious! The sauerkraut was also spot on, just how I like it. Would recommend!
Of course I saw this place on "Somebody Feed Phil" I'm from Arizona and this place didn't disappoint. I went with several friends and we all had something different to eat. I also enjoyed a local cider. After lunch we walked the streets close by Prost! Cute shops and well worth the drive & my time.
Stopped here twice in one day. Awesome German beer selection. The menu looks tasty. We had a meat and cheese board that was great with some killer pickles and a buttery cheese spread. Not to be missed. I'll be going back to get more food and beer.
What a great German bar. One of the only authentic German places to go to. Super good food out of the kitchen. And the food carts in the back are all great to. So many options to choose from. Great authentic German brews on tap all the time. The selection never disappoints. Great place to go on a hot day or just chill for some good German food and brews.
After enjoying our dessert, we decided to have a quick beer and appetizer. The atmosphere of the place was fantastic! It had such a great vibe and ambiance. We loved the cozy and inviting setting. It was the perfect way to relax and wind down after our meal. Overall, it was a delightful experience!
The beer is good, the staff is friendly and the people watching gets an A+.
We only got a pretzel here, having gotten BBQ from Matt's. It was really yummy. They were nice enough to give us real silverware for our meal even though it was from the carts. The light german beer was perfect for a hearty meal of BBQ. I definitely want to go back and try their sausages!
The bratwurst is my fave!!! My husband likes the beer.. a tad bit pricey.
Update (2023)
Went back again this time with my husband and cousin and dad. The pricing is the same but the area is very lively so In the end of you are very sociable this is a great place to hang out! Food carts nextdoor but I am unsure of the hours. But prost has food options and the food never disappoints just done expect to get full!
Excellent local watering hole with a great front of house staff. Some cheaper eats if you're looking to not leave hungry and a decent selection of German beers. They also seem to be big on having a mug club and when I went they were playing with the sports on the TV. Bartenders were excellent and I totally recommend running in for a drink. And even if you're not in the mood for German food, there are plenty of food cards nearby if another cuisine sounds more interesting.
Prost is a cool place with an awesome vibe! I didn't realize it was a German-focused restaurant... it was more of a non-descript neighborhood bar. The food was very good (bratwurst) and service was pretty good. Definitely would recommend for going out with friends for beer and bratwurst!

I’m not one to usually gas up chain establishments but this Prost is a gem. The food is always consistently good and the staff is just the sweetest. Quick, competent, and super kind and down to earth. This was my first year in Portland and I didn’t have anywhere to go for thanksgiving, but discovered that Prost hosted a potluck. So I had a place to go for thanksgiving food, in a warm and friendly environment. :) Love this place and what they do.
Good German place with great beer selection. The customer service here is solid. There are also a bunch of food trucks in the courtyard adjacent to them that offers a variety of different options depending on what you feel like. The soft pretzels here are also very delicious.
This has to be one of my favorites in this neighborhood! They have really well priced beer and great sizes! Even the boot! You can choose between the inside bar and the outside patio.
I think what makes this place even better is the wide space they have and the variety of food carts you can choose from. They would definitely be a place to go with friends for a long evening. I would go back for sure!
We loved it. Full bar plus tons of German beers and the food was damn good too. The bratwurst game was on point, the bier cheese soup was nothing less than phenomenal and the staff were all friendly and awesome!
This place is great! Five stars you say? Well sure, it's everything it's designed to be. You want fancy food, go someplace else, some really good carts right there. This place is a simple sausage deal. Service? Order at the counter and they'll bring it out to you, which is better than most places these days. Atmosphere, well maybe that should have been only a four. Ok, I'll change that but really what do you want from a place?
We had Barbecue and it was delicious. Very well prepared. The atmosphere was amazing. Such a positive environment. While we had take-out, and we ordered from a kiosk, what service that was provided was friendly and efficient.
Got bratwurst mit sour kraut, cheese soup and a pretzel. The bratwurst was hands down the best bratwurst I have ever had . flavor, texture both smooth and delicious. Pretzel was so fresh and went great with cheese soup which was also delicious and full of flavor. Must try this place. Go here for the best bratwursts
