Awesome, 2 thumbs up. Portions are big, great prices, well crafted flavors. The fried chicken was juicy and tender, great spice and breading, and not full of bones which just adds more value. The lamb was well cooked and flavorful. The fresh pork rinds are crispy. I had the porchetta sandwich which was tender, paired perfectly with the greens and dripping with deliciousness. The smokey flavor isn't overpowering but enhances all the dishes, what a treat

By far one of the best BBQ joints in Portland! My husband votes for it to be #1! I can see why it one of the nation's best Smoked Fried Chicken sandwiches. The chicken is juicy and incredibly tasty! The ribs had a great smoke and I loved the BBQ sauces. Cornbread and potato salad are also worth trying. I can't wait to come back and try out a few other things!

The smoked fried chicken was definitely the highlight! Brisket was on the dry side, and the barbeque sauce was... different (vinegary and heavily spiced with cumin, I think?). But the cornbread was good and came drizzled with honey, and the pepper jelly was pretty great. Service was quick and friendly, cocktail was well-made, and I can't say enough good things about that chicken!

This place is super legit... I got the smoked deep fried chicken sandwich which was excellent. My girlfriend got the brisket sandwich which I ended up waking up a few times in the middle of the night wishing I got that sandwich... Next time for sure!!! For sides we had some super cheesy mac and cheese and potato salad, both were excellent. Their draft beer was phenomenal, I had the Amber..

Best BBQ I've had in a looooooong time, and that includes stops in Texas. The smoked fried chicken took me to a different planet. Brisket was fantastic as well. The plates here are BIG, so come hungry!

We wanted authentic American food and that's what we got. It was really good and the meat was so tender. We could taste the experienced hands in our food. Definitely a must go in portland.

What a hidden gem of a place this was. The guys were so polite and you can tell they care about what they do and the community they serve. Food was insane and the vibe of the outdoor seating area was on point. Can't wait to go back.

Texan first taste of Oregon BBQ. Had to start with the brisket sandwich. Good portions and tasted great. I also sampled the fried chicken sandwich. I will need to return and try more items. Their BBQ sauce is a lil sweet for me. So skipped that but some may prefer that.

Drove by this place and saw a line out the door. Bought the 2 meat COMBO and cornbread. O. M. G. First the cornbread with honey knocked my socks off. The honey is divine. The pork shoulder was my favorite. So juicy and full of flavor. Oh and the service was top knotch. Thank you for making our trip to Seattle!

You know the food is good when you “clean your plate” and are sad it’s all gone. The pork shoulder, brisket, macaroni salad, corn bread and black eyed peas were my favorite. More on the macaroni salad - you see, I don’t really like mayonnaise and therefore usually avoid macaroni salad, but GIRL, GIRRRRRRRRL what they’ve done with this here now macaroni salad. For the gods! Pork shoulder - Needless to say, the pig was cooked to perfection. I tried all the sauces they had, including the one on the plate, but found it to be too heavy on the cumin for my liking. The plain pork shoulder was so delightful. Let’s call it the start of the show and my sides were its supporters. Corn bread - I wanted more. Black eyed peas - never had em. I’ve clearly been missing out because these were the bomb. Oh and MY DRINK - I don’t remember what it was called, oh darn. It was so so so good. I also tasted my handsome date’s hot toddy, it was also very good. Oh wait, I did have ONE COMPLAINT - the ice cube in my drink was larger in volume than the drink itself. Not cool. The macaroni and cheese was average. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I’ll try a different side next time, maybe the greens. THAT BRISKET THOUGH - that was the real mvp. (Sorry pork shoulder). I wish there had been leftovers, damn. Chicharrones were fried perfectly. I’ll be back!!

Pick the Pig, it's a squealing deal!(sorry) The bbq smoke seeps into every corner of this dining diamond. The ambiance subtly screams amazing bbq joint and the food echoes that. We ordered a variety of meats and sides and everything met the expectations you'd have, but the chicken thighs surprised us. They featured a crunchy bark with deep flavor and juicy interior and the Pig serves thighs with a Jalapeño Jelly with sweet spicy junks of jalapeños.

Very affordable happy hour from 3pm-6pm. The smoked fried chicken is the best fried chicken I have had in Portland, possibly in my life. The ribs and black eyed peas were great, and everything was seasoned so well, that it was difficult to decide if I even wanted to use the fantastic jalapeno jelly or barbecue sauce.

I may Not be the best to review bbq since I don’t always eat it everywhere I go. But with that said, THIS place really hits the spot! From the straight up 1970’s decor to the casual “eat on a tray” serving style, People’s Pig delivers a great experience! Pork shoulder was so tasty! The beans were the best though. Worth writing about by themselves. Slaw is very creamy but also a huge favorite. Do NOT miss the “smoked” Old Fashioned. Two thumbs up!!! I’ll be back!!

I can understand why this very popular establishment has survived and thrived, spanning generations of real down-home BBQ lovers. Pork off the bone, ribs on the bone, chicken and lamb. Cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, sweet tea made right there. They even bake their own sandwich buns. I started choking when I saw the menu prices and stopped choking after the first bite. Seating space is limited and fills up quickly. Not a good place for conversation when crowded, but your mouth should be too busy eating to talk. The pork bbq on a bun had THICK sliced 'melts-in-your-mouth' tender meat. Seasoned, not spicy hot, not overpowering, keeping the spotlight shining on the pig. A balance rarely found these days. The staff are so welcoming & friendly, attentive and courteous. It makes a lot of sense why customers keep this place a well kept secret.
