I can't say enough good things about Costello's Travel Caffe since the new owners took over! This place has truly become a hidden gem in the neighborhood. If you're looking for a cozy spot with delicious, handmade bakery items and an excellent selection of breakfast, lunch, and coffee shop treats, look no further.
The transformation is nothing short of remarkable. The commitment to making everything from scratch is evident in every bite. The aroma of freshly baked goods hits you as soon as you walk in, and it's hard to resist indulging in one (or more) of their delectable creations. From flaky pastries to mouthwatering sandwiches, Costello's offers a little something for every craving.
I must mention the baristas – they are top-notch! Their passion for coffee is apparent in every expertly crafted cup. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or just looking for a quick caffeine fix, you'll be impressed by the quality and consistency.
The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it an ideal place for a relaxing breakfast, a quick catch-up with friends over lunch, or some quiet time with your favorite book. The friendly and attentive staff only adds to the welcoming atmosphere.
Costello's Travel Caffe is a place where you'll find excellent food, great coffee, and warm hospitality. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone in search of a delightful dining experience. Kudos to the new owners for turning this into a true neighborhood treasure. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

New Management!!! It had been a few years since I had been in and now it is truly worth dropping back in for coffee and pastries! The new owners remind me of the original Costello owners who had bakers in the family, and the front of house has a warm vibe.
I ordered a blackberry scone, an Americano and a side of eggs. The scone was excellent and comes from an old Irish recipe. That seemed cool! Eggs were perfect and I loved my well prepared Americano.
The menu is simple but there are some great classics.
I know the original owners put their hearts into it, great to see the place come alive again.

I popped in for breakfast with a friend and their doggo. Order at the counter for table service. We found a table outside to accommodate doggo. Our server was really sweet and brought out a water bowl for the pup. Weekday mornings are the best time to pop on without a wait. We saw quite a few more people coming in as we were finishing up. We ordered the Farmers Scramble and Fruit-Hazelnut Waffle. Our conversation ceased when the food came out. The waffle was so fluffy and buttery. The blueberries on top were so light and really what I was craving. Both of our dishes were incredibly satisfying and the perfect portion size. I wasn't hungry or over-full.

Found this place randomly and I really liked it. Great selection of drinks and food with a world traveling theme. Super cozy, no frills, not pretentious. Great for studying or working. I sat outside which was perfect for people watching and fresh air. I got an iced chai latte and the club sandwich! Will be back!

I really enjoyed my breakfast here. People were nice, the coffee was perfect and wasn't burnt or overly "green" like many shops. I had a breakfast sandwich that was also perfect. The bacon was crispy, the food was hot and the egg was cooked fully. Overall pretty perfect.

Costello’s Travel Cafe is a must-stop to eat!! Grab a patio table if the weather is nice. If not, enjoy sitting at a table in the warm and eclectic interior.
I ordered the Bacon and Berry salad with chicken. Phenomenal!! The chicken had a delicious herb crust, and the vinegarette was packed with flavor. I ordered an ice tea that was refreshing and tasty.
The staff was friendly, and the service was fast. I highly recommend Costello’s!!

Holy smokes. I'm quite surprised, the cold brew is delicious. Soft bodied but bold. Cold brew done right. I added vanilla so you get that tease of sweet and flavor. The coffee cake was delicious as well. It was a little dry but the taste made up for it. I'm more than sure it's perfect when fresh. Tables inside are for short people though. I should have ate outside in the patio but that has nothing to do with my experience, just poor choice of seating on my behalf. I love when I take myself on little coffee dates and everything is pleasant, makes me appreciate the little things. A good stop to enjoy a little treat and some good coffee. Might I add that I didn't get hot coffee but if the cold brew is done right, they definitely know a thing or two about brewing coffee.

The new owners are lovely and apple tart was incredible! I am definitely coming back for more . Don’t overlook the pie case.

Stopped in for a late breakfast and coffee the first morning of our week-long trip to Portland. We'll definitely be back more this week. Had the breakfast sandwich and quiche Lorraine and both were outstanding. The drip coffee was also perfect and paired nicely with one of their marionberry scones. Picked up the homemade trail bar to take with us on our hike and it might've been the highlight of our hike. I need to get that recipe!

This is a cute little Mom/Pop Shop. Loved it all!!! As soon as you enter you get a warm calm feeling (the staff calls frequent locals by their names) It was an awesome experience!! Food was sooo good! Made me feel at home. Definitely reccomend the waffles !!! And if you are picky(like me) they are very friendly and patient. I like a CaffeMocha but most places make it too sweet. I described what I wanted and they obliged me. They made me a CaffeMocha and added an extra shot to balance the sweetness. Custom Coffee + Delicious Waffle =Bliss 🥰

Highly recommend - Ham Croissant, Quiche and Waffles
These are actually the only three things we tried on our first and only visit to date. Definitely visiting the restaurant again. The european theme in the restaurant is very evident with the music and TV visuals changing every week.
Its a little bit of european culture in the middle of Portland.
Definitely give it a try!

Costellos Travel Cafe's new owners Kyle and Tumiko are fabulous--kind and skilled with a genuine desire to create a lovely time for customers. Costellos has taken on the same feel from years ago of a caring, community gathering place. Tumiko makes all the baked goods which are divine. Perfectly trained barista's create exquisite coffee drinks and the menu offerings are luscious. It's a perfect place to meet friends and loved ones or settle in for some telecommuting. Check it out!!

Had some good coffee cake, they have a great selection. Same with quiche - a few to pick from. They have outdoor seating & friendly staff.
They also seem to attract chatty locals. We had a couple tables that chatted with us and each other. Great little spot and happy to be a part of their community.

The best breakfast I’ve had in a while! The fruit + hazelnut waffle was delicious and we also ordered an omelette to share, the caramelized onions are a MUST! Best part of the entire meal!

Pretty great, overall. I want to give it 4.5 stars, but that, of course, is not an option.
Happy, friendly staff. Fair enough prices. Decent selection of food if you get there early enough. (This was the painful part -- I got there around 1:30pm, and the food options were pretty slim. I settled on filler.)
Good atmosphere for visiting solo. Good atmosphere for couples or small groups. Roomy enough to socially distance to the extent that someone who dines indoors in public might want to socially distance.

Good coffee. There was a good gluten free muffin I tried too. Tv plays images from europe and around the world. Rustic decor.

This place has it ALL☆
Great service, Great food, even better coffee and spirits 😉.
It is crowed in the mornings but such warm and welcoming feeling.

The farmer's scramble is fantastic. I wish they wouldn't charge $1 for toast but whatever. I'll be back to try other things soon.

Very good club sandwich. Nice atmosphere

I have been coming here for over 6 years. Even though the owner sold recently, the place has kept all it's charm, delightful people, and delicious food. Even though I do not live here anymore, I always stop by when I'm in town... still feels like home. :)

I got the roast beef sandwich and the roast beef was gray and it was loaded with horseradish cream but the tom soup was amazing. I’ll be back to try something else but def not the meat

Best waffle and croissant sandwich I have ever had. Service was friendly and the cafe was clean and beautifully decorated. Can’t wait to go back.

Great concept, well executed. As far from a corporate spot as can be imagined.

Cozy place, lots of seating, really good pear scone. They serve breakfast too.

Great lunch and the service was good too.
We just happened to stumble across this place while enjoying the Rose City Yarn Crawl.

Good food, coffee and wifi. Very lively on Sundays and good for people-watching. I like the travel videos in the background and how the international theme is carried through the restaurant.
Annette Rudge
Love this place for Chai latte and Manchester sandwiches, it is just hard getting a seat sometimes when you are holding your drinks waiting for an opening.

Great food, ambiance and awesome staffs, especially Jordy. Went above and beyond! Thank you!
Deniece Costello
The lunch we had was great. They have a great last name.
Lori Bryant
Went there with my family on a weekend trip to Portland, all of it was delicious. I had a perfectly made omelet with potatoes, peppers and chedder cheese and a cup of fruit. My son had a side of scrambled eggs, my husband had the Manchester sandwich that he side was a great balance of all the ingredients. I'd love to go back and try everything on the menu.

Great coffee & espresso drinks, wonderful quiche and soups that rotate frequently. The staff is warm and welcoming, the atmosphere is lovely. It's a nice bonus that you can switch from coffee/espresso to beer when the mood strikes.
Grady Preston
Great food, great people, great place!! Don't miss brunch!!

Tara Boehlke
Fantastic waffles. Very fun environment. Wonderful coffee , scone , scramble etc... Just all around impressive . You will be delighted and leave not inky satisfied but delighted. I'm looking forward to trying their quiche next time !
Dana Hendricks
Everything is great from the scones to the quiches to the coffee to the service!

A terrific cafe with a full menu. Loads of first class baked goods (all created either in house or by Chris's family). Great daily specials. Coffee is even great. Again, a problem is getting in during meal times. Great places just get packed. But if you can get in, you'll find courteous service, great food and amazing baked goods.
Emily
Great neighborhood caf. A cozy place to hang out and watch a soccer game or linger over a newspaper and a coffee (or a beer). They make great soups here (the Hungarian Mushroom is my favorite) and very good grilled sandwiches and quiche. I feel very lucky that Costello's is walking distance from my house. I recently discovered that Costello's is open for dinner (how did it take me almost 5 years to figure that out?).
