I have been shopping at the NW Food front since 1993, and later moved to SW Portland where we are easily able to shop at the Hillsdale Food Front location. All these years it's been rainbows and sunshine for our family. We shop here nearly daily because we love the selection, appreciate the attention to quality and care that staff show as well. We feel so very fortunate to live in a community with such a terrific community-minded food store such as Food Font Co-Op! they recently even put in a lovely dining area, complete with a kids play area. Our daughter loves it, and it's a great healthy food option to be able to grab a bite from the deli to sit and enjoy on site;)

The best neighborhood grocery! Feels like a European market! Get down on some honey mamas chocolate or Raw’r kale slaw! My fave place!

I absolutely love the Hillsdale location! Not only is their selection always top-notch for my needs, their employees are the best. Everyone is so friendly and helpful; they also make me feel like I belong to something bigger than just a company. Brian (produce) always makes me laugh and shares odd fruit with me while the cashiers know my name and are so helpful in suggestions. I really cannot imagine shopping anywhere else. The people make it!

Friendly, keeps beef bones on hands year around, my favorite brands of sauerkraut, good bulk, just well appointed. Nice work!

Food front is a lovely little local co-op store. A lot of the products are local and/or organic. The produce is always high quality and fresh. Their selection of other goods, save wine and beer, is quite limited. You should be aware that the prices are much higher than you would find anywhere else. Of course, the premium cost reflects the quality of goods and the how well the staff is valued by the company. Their membership plan doesn't offer great savings, (a few days out of the month members get a marginal discount), but once again the price is to support a local, walkable, organic grocery co-op.

Love shopping here for past ten years. I always stop in before or after a hike in forest park. And for groceries weekly. One thing though, the parking lot security man is rude as heck..I am considering going elsewhere because of him.

Coops are a great thing for communities to invest in and thing place is no exception. They have a lot of healthy alternatives. I got dalmas. Going vegetarian these days so it was a good choice for me. If you want to support this place please do so because it is totally cool and a great place to shop. They even have some prepared hot food to purchase. This day was a hot soup. I give it 5 stars. Oh prices are pretty reasonable.

Great produce sold by a friendly and helpful staff who are glad to assist in however they were asked. Good variety and great ready to make foods. This place is surely your neighborhoods most friendly grocer. Not new seasons.

I love this store! Great items and prices with an authentic neighborhood feel. The hot bar/salad bar is amazingly delicious and fresh, with interesting yet comfortable options. My only complaint is how early their hot bar closes, I think 7 PM on weekdays and 6 PM on weekends..

I work near Food Front and for a TINY store it really packs a lot of whallop. I honestly love shopping here. Is it expensive, yup sure is, is it worth it HECK YES! Their produce is always super fresh once I bought mushrooms there that were so fresh they lasted a MONTH in my fridge (I forgot about them) when I pulled them out they weren't even shriveled or anything, looked and smelled nice so I ate 'em. The meats are of superior quality and their salad and hot food bars are delicious. The story is easy to navigate and has a good selection of health and beauty products as well as bulk items. I look forward to receiving the collection of spice jars I ordered and going there to have them filled as they'll allow you to use outside containers for bulk products. My review is short 1 star only because the cashiers and building are a little worse for wear. Some of the cashiers are great but there are a few who really ride the line between apathetic and dismissive. I've worked retail, I know its a grind and I let a LOT go when it comes to customer service but there are one or two cashiers here who always manage to make me feel like I interrupted their day with my need for groceries. Also the building could use a little work it's not dirty or anything just worn and sometimes the scent of old building springs up which I don't mind in old houses but is unpleasant when mingled with grocery smells. But if you can push past an old building and the odd cashier who hates life you're golden and it's a great place to shop!

I'm gonna change my five stars to four stars because I usually have a pleasant experience. But today the cashier was rude rude rude. Never even looked up from their clipboard. I bagged my stuff and said thank you, and all they said (still looking down and away at their clipboard) you're welcome. That's not what I expect. New Seasons is too close to have rude people interacting with the public.

Very neat environment. Beautiful Miral on the outside wall. They have a parking lot so you don't have to fight with Portland streets. The location is good. The people are friendly. The food is fresh in the wine selection is good. The prices are mediocre. I like the bulletin board out front and the community field. All around it seems like a nice place to do your shopping. I will probably be back if

I have been shopping at FF for about 5 years and love this place (the produce is beautiful, the meat counter folks are super helpful, Catherine in nonfoods is totally great, the store is always spotless) but make sure you get - and check - your receipt. The sale prices are not often entered into their system and I have been overcharged on numerous occasions. I am a member and support their mission so if I don't catch it, I shrug it off as a donation but this remains an ongoing issue.

I am vegan, so I LOVE shopping at Food Front Cooperative Grocery! They have a great selection of vegan products -- and their "grab and go" case has a wonderful selection of vegan to-go foods and beverages. Plus, I am also a member of Food Front Co-op, so I can receive 10% off my purchases one day per month -- during Member Days -- and I can also "help to shape a conscious, thriving food economy that amplifies sustainable, healthy, and responsible food systems."

For such a small space, the grocers here do a great job. Parking is easy. Fast in and out. The deli is outstanding. Try one of their made-to-order sandwiches (my fave--pastrami). Seriously good.

I have been coming to this store for a little over 3 years now. They are a tad spendy compared to other major chains, but is to be expected from buying smaller and more local. Pre-covid I mostly utilized their bulk section. Lots of great selections, and you can bring your own containers/jars to avoid the plastic. Staff is always friendly.

Supporting local farmers, and independent businesses since 1972, this friendly landmark still provdes the best produce, seafood and meat department in town. A very friendly and helpful staff. The prices are the best for organic produce and wild caught seafood as well as organically raised beef, bison, lamb and pork. They will provide special orders and case discounts upon request. Bulk items are available and offer a great value.

Update: I am pleased that my concern was addressed promptly when I got a phone call within a day by the head of the deli department. Original concern: I'm a member but I must say I was disappointed in the customer service this past Sunday. Information provided to me over the phone was incorrect and I made a trip across the Columbia River for little to nothing.
