Nice laidback oldfashoned environment, ok meat slab. Interesting server and service. We met Clyde. He seems very personable. The food itself was not memorable. The prime rib was priced like the best and mediocre in both quality and preparation. No windows in the place does give a slight mortuary feel also but dispite that we enjoyed looking up the history. I would go back if i was invited by someone but not if i was picking the place.

Service was excellent. Decor dark & dated. But who cares. It's the food that counts. GREAT prime rib. We enjoyed it ALL

The Prime Rib Melts in Your Mouth. I am picky about meat--especially beef! But I'll tell ya, Clyde has figured out the secret.

I stopped in because I saw they were running a Sunday night special ($15 prime rib dinner--WHAT?!?) and I couldn't believe how wonderful my dinner was! I ordered prime rib, which was carved table side and served a perfect medium rare and my server doctored up the best baked potato for me, loaded with all the fixings.

This place makes you want to drink Old Fashions and listen to Frank Sinatra. Luckily, they server a killer Old Fashion (I also had a great Manhattan) and Frank and his friends were piped through the restaurant, making me feel like I was sitting in another era.

Next time I go, I'm wearing bright red lip stick, a classic 50's style dress, a fur ripped coat and patent leather heels. I hope to be accompanied by a slick gentleman in a smart suit with a skinny black tie and a top hat.

Seriously, try it out. It's wonderful. PS--order the hot and gooey for dessert

Speakeasy Blues and great food. I have an intimate love afair with Clyde's Prime Rib,

It starts as all good love affairs do with well poured drinks from a friendly bartender who remembers your name, then as the relationships advances you are enjoying food prepaired and presented like you were important to them and they enjoyed pleasing you, the music puts you in a relaxed toe tapping happy spirit especially when Ron Stein has his open jam sessions on Sunday night, and like a good host Clyde greets you and often walks you to the door with a smile making you feel comming back next time will be a pleasure revisited like a true love affair is meant to feel.

Enjoy Clydes Prime Rib....you deserve it

I can't say enough positive things about this place. I grew up in Portland, Oregon, and had never visited this restaurant until now. Don't judge a book by its cover because it's unassuming from its exterior, and then you enter into a beautiful old-school steak house dining room. We had the most friendly, attentive waitress, and she was a saint to endure our large group. The food was amazing. I had a shrimp salad, prime rib dinner, a cocktail, and dessert for just under $65. You can beat that price for the quality and excellent dining experience.

Heard that Clyde’s had been purchased sometime in recent months (apparently I was misinformed), so decided to try it. It was quite better than expected. I had the Louie salad to start that was very good. I also enjoyed the cranberry mule cocktail I had. The main event prime rib was good, along with the shrimp. Baked potato was a bit disappointing because it was small and wasn’t really loaded as promised, very little toppings. One member in our party had the chicken sandwich they really liked. Our server was excellent and very attentive, but the host at the front desk was a bit surly upon entry and leaving. Over all was a good dinner and I would go again when needing that old steakhouse fix!

Thursday night. We received Great service in the lounge. The Old Fashioned drink i ordered during happy hour had small cubed ice, and shredded maraschino cherry? Very loud in the lounge. The dry aged prime rib i ordered, even though it was medium rare, it was tough, but there was a lot of it. I'd try it again just to compare.

I don't really go to places like this, but I am glad there was a Christmas party there or I would have missed out on some delicious food. Onions soup was on point, the tenderloin you could cut with a fork, and that cheesecake was fantastic.

I came here for my 19th birthday on a Wednesday with a party of 4 (me included), as recommended to me by a Facebook group. I love places that are historic or vintage time capsules, and especially cute ones (ex: Mary Lou's Milk Bottle). We came in here with a 6:30PM reservation and were seated momentarily. We ordered an appetizer of calamari (which I can safely say is the best calamari I've ever had), and I ordered a prime rib french dip with fries, which was excellent and I will certainly be going back. Especially on the weekend for the live jazz.

A place where Ron Swanson would be proud to eat a steak. Could have easily had a dinner with Michael Corleone here. Great ambience when the smooth jazz from the lounge drifts into the dining room. Top flight prime rib paired with Eagle Rare 10 year. More quality selections from the bourbon list as well. My 22 year old son said, "I feel like a man eating here."

This is something of an institution in Portland that looks right out of the 50s. There's historical photos to back that up, too. White tablecloth service and half moon booths support a solid menu of beef and well-prepared sides at a reasonable price. It's more a place you know you can always count on rather than a place to impress, but there's something very right about that.

Just moved here and past this place several times, my daughter was coming to town and we both love Prime Rib. Walking in was immediately inviting, warm comfortable lighting and atmosphere, the fireplace is jaw dropping with wonderful chairs to sit in while waiting. The bar was a blast from the past, had that upscale Vegas ambience and was packed with cheerful patrons. Dinner could be had in bar or dining room so we walked around but my daughter chose the dining room as only two of us and we didn't want to take up a huge booth. Once again the atmosphere was very enjoyable, Tyler was very knowledgeable and a fun chat. We had the mushrooms to start, shared a bowl of clam chowder which was loaded with clams and delicious. Our prime rib came out rare as requested, garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. Food was delicious, Tyler made sure we had everything we needed and was very attentive checking back on us throughout our entire visit. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

The atmosphere is low lit with a lounge type vibe. The live music is ALWAYS excellent, from blues to soul to 90'S and today. The staff is usually very helpful and kind! It's a very busy place on a Friday or Saturday night, so u need a little patience, but overall, the wait time is not bad for service. Get there early for dinner to get a seat by the music. The other side is the Restaurant section and is elegant dining with a reasonable to moderate price tag. Ps my favorite is the prime rib french dip!! A great steakhouse for the heart of Portland and a guaranteed good time! There are always on lookers who stand by the dance floor, but no worries! People are polite, and if u don't wish to dance with them, they let you be! Parking is a bit limited to their parking lot, which is the only challenge, so being your good parking Karma!! No dress code but most wear casual to semi formal.

The food and cocktails are great!! Most of the dishes contain dairy, without many non-dairy options to substitute, which is the only reason I gave them a four for the food. The prime rib and the fries are both fantastic, and the French dip is quite good. Impossibly, the prime rib is even better cold the next day. Wait staff is attentive and responsive. It's elegant, but plenty of folks dressed casually. It's an open dining area with a lot of comfy booths. Sometimes it can be very loud.

I went to Clyde's for a steak on a Wednesday. I was seated quickly, and the service was great. The ribeye was excellent, the broccoli was awesome, and the wedge salad was good. The music was ok and not too loud.

We split a large prime rib and a Caeser salad, which turned out to be the right amount of food. The prime rib was well spiced and slow cooked to medium-rare. The salad was a freshly mixed Caesar with their own dressing. The loaded baked potato was filled with sour cream, chives, and bacon bits. The broccoli was delicious. The place is a classic, with memorabilia all over. The staff was friendly and helpful. They have a neon sign up to let you know if they have open tables. Nice touch. Recommended.

Delicious prime rib and the sides are great too. They actually season their broccoli! It's not just steamed and thrown on the side like most places, it was actually a compliment to the meal. Also enjoyed the creamed spinach appetizer. It has a very chill yet classic ambiance. If you come a little earlier on a weekday it is very quiet. Our server was great! Though getting seated took a while.

The prime rib was exquisite! Best in town, hands down. Also had the Caesar salad, French onion soup, and creamed spinach. The grilled bread and creamed spinach were perfection. Great cozy atmosphere and well priced. Will definitely be back!

01/27/2023:  4.75 out of 5 - I came here with my wife, mother-in-law and nephew for my 50th birthday dinner and, along with my mother-in-law and nephew, it was my first time eating here.  My wife wanted to bring me somewhere that would be older than me. Clyde's prime Rib Restaurant was established in 1955. So yeah...my wife has a brilliant taste. Moving on, this is how I score it today: SERVICE - 4.75 out of 5. Clyde's is a table service restaurant with a Lounge.  We made reservations.  Arrived and the host was nice and, although a minor wait, was quick to get us checked in. Our server, Taylor, was friendly, made us feel welcomed, and was helpful with explaining some things with the menu.  Taylor and the other staff were good about checking on us, quick to get us some requested things, water refill, clear the table and such. Taylor showed a lot of patience when my nephew wanted to do the order for the table, which was a big surprise to my wife and I.  Our nephew is on the spectrum, he voluntarily wanted to put in the order, and Taylor was outstanding with him. Overall, the service exceeded my expectations when it came to this kind of food service establishment.  It was just golden! PRICE - 4.50 out of 5. For any white linen table service one should expect the prices to be...pricey.  Surprisingly, for the Portland area, the pricing at Clyde's Prime Rib, in my opinion, was right on the mark.  We definitely got what we paid for. QUALITY - 4.75 out of 5. Now this is where the food comes in.  For starters, we went with: (2) orders of the Prawn Cocktail - way better than what we thought it would which is why we did the second order. (2) orders of the Hot Wings - same as the Prawn Cocktail...so good! (1) order of Calamari. (1) order of Sauteed Mushrooms - very good! (1) order of Caesar Salad - I didn't eat it. (1) Au Gratin Cauliflower - wow! For the main course, I ordered the Ribeye Steak, my mother-in-law went with the Prime Rib, my nephew had the Fish & Chips, and my wife went with the Lobster Mac & Cheese.  All was shared amongst each other, and everything was delicious, and such a joy on the taste buds! Regardless, for the price, portion, ingredients and tastiness...it was all SO worth it! TIPPING - 5.0 out of 5. Clyde's Prime Rib does show suggestions at the bottom of the receipt based on the total, which is, in most cases, the standard and helpful.   The best part of it though is that Clyde's don't make you feel obligated, nor give the sense of "guilt tipping", and doesn't tack on those ridiculous "surcharges" for some made up line item. This, in my opinion, is the correct way to better serve the customers. ESTABLISHMENT - 4.75 out of 5. Keep in mind, Clyde's Prime Rib is an established restaurant with a lounge.  The lounge had live music, served drinks and food, as well.  With that going on, the music didn't overwhelm the seated dining area.  The restaurant was packed but still felt nice and airy.  The bathroom was clean but could do with a bit of improvement.  The vents were kept clean (No caking of dust in this place).  This place was considerably quite clean!  Tables were full of patrons but it wasn't overly loud.  The overall ambiance was enjoyable. "WOULD YOU COME BACK?" Often after each meal, I would ask at the table, "Would you come back?", which in my case, I absolutely would.  My nephew really enjoyed the food and the scenery, and wants to come back to Clyde's.  Besides, there's more that I definitely would like to try on the menu. So, if ever in the mood for great Prime Rib and/or tasty food with live music, then give Clyde's Prime Rib Restaurant a try.  As I always say, try it once and decide for yourself.  Enjoy!
