Arden is quickly becoming my favorite restaurant in Portland. This was my second experience there, and I have to say each time was phenomenal. The service is excellent- our waitress was friendly and helpful with any questions we had, and was knowledgeable about the wine list. Each dish is carefully curated with local ingredients and priced appropriately. You can expect to order about 5 dishes for a party of two. They just changed their menu, so I had the opportunity to taste their summer menu last time, and the new fall menu this time. I definitely missed their Steak Tartare from the summer menu, but was so impressed with the fall appetizers I didn’t mind. The Fig & Goat cheese appetizer with Salsa Macha is not to be missed- it’s the perfect balance of sweet, salty and cheesy. If I could have one dish for the rest of my life it would be the Bavette Steak for two- PLEASE order this!! Perfectly cooked steak and charred cabbage together over this incredible miso sauce. I could have licked the plate but they also give you these bready muffins to soak up all of that sauce. Finally, you must order the stoner ice cream. It has Carmel corn over a corn ice cream, topped with shaved foie gras. It’s salty, sweet, crunchy and creamy. Unreal!

We had an incredible anniversary dinner here. I searched for a multi-course dinner in Portland and the food at Arden sounded amazing. It did not disappoint... I can't say I've ever wanted to make certain every plate was wiped clean before they took it away :)
The highlights were (and forgive the butchering of the more elegant names you'll find on the menu) the oysters with the special sauce and house hot sauce, the chickpea "sticks" (this is the butchering), the citrus, goat cheese and marcona almond salad, the house smoked olives, the clam/bacon pasta and the quail. ALL of it was amazing but those were our highlights.
Wine was a perfect pairing with each course as well. Kelsey, most of the information you shared I never knew, you obviously have a passion for wine! That was a treat in itself :)
The service couldn't have been better. Thank you Kelsey (and the rest of the staff of course) for making our anniversary special. We loved eating there and it was way more of an experience than dinner. Exactly what I was hoping for!
Will come again soon!
We loved our meal at Arden! Our server Emily was great and shared a lot of good wines with us. We did the prix fixe dinner and wine pairing and everything was outstanding from the first course to the last. We are thankful that the chef was able to accommodate us by making the menu pescatarian. The scallops and the sauce they were in was the highlight, along with the Mario Bagella cannonou and Vincent Wenger chardonnay. Make the trip and let the expert staff here do their thing!
High end, unpretentious PNW seasonal fare. Pre-fixe was an impressive value. Service and atmosphere were class. Our favorites were the quail and the smoked trout + trout roe appetizer.
I was visiting Portland for one night and came here, sat at the counter by myself. The staff was super friendly. The menu was creative, fun with impressive dishes. The food was delicious, especially the burrata and the spaghetti with roasted morels. I’d love to go back next time I’m visiting Portland!
Best restaurant experience I have In Portland area. The chef's fixe is excellent. Every course tastes delicious and looks perfect. The only con is that the amount of the main course is kind of small considering the price.
Wow! Such a great experience. Traveling from Texas this was EXCEPTIONAL. Wesley took care of us, and was there every step of the way even though he wasn’t our server. 10/10 highly suggest
Everything we had was absolutely delicious and wonderfully prepared. Loved the unique wine selection. The service was very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place to others.
The dishes are just the right size to share between two people, so you can try a little bit of each dish. Good oysters, delicious snacks (gougers, unique and flavor bursting salad (burrata with roasted squash)... their pierogi with potatoes and charterelles, topped with truffles, was out of this world. For the main course, we decided not to share and got two different dishes, and both were wonderfully prepared.
Arden is a lovely date night spot, smack dab in the middle of the Pearl. The restaurant and bar is small and very intimate but feels classy. When I went most people their were wearing button up shirts or a blazer.
Their selection of wine is Robust and delicious, the servers do an excellent job at explaining the subtle yet impactful differences between each.
The food is delicious, the plates are very small and rather pricey but I guess that is to be expected. I would definitely visit this spot again. I decided to give it a 4 star because the prices are very high for smaller portions.
The food was phenomenal! Book outdoor seating as indoor is smoky and at times, difficult to breath if you have any sort of respiratory history.
Exceptional food, really surprised me as I was not expecting this level of attention to detail in both presentation and flavor!
The tartare with asparagus was incredible, and the duck very well cooked. Everyone else seemed to love their dishes as well.
Sat on the patio, so can’t comment on the inside, but the service was great still, and very fast considering!
Also, I was dumb and got a beer, but the cocktails were also delicious, so I’d recommend trying one of those if you’re here too!
We reserved a table to celebrate my birthday in Arden. We were led to a quiet and cozy table upon checking in. It was very considerate and well gestured by the host. We ordered the prix fixe 4 course meal. Each course was decorated delightfully. We especially liked the trout. I normally don’t like trout because of the muddy taste. This one is cooked perfectly and tasted very delicious. The desserts were very good as well. I would have given a 5 star if the bacons and some of the sauce were a little less salty.
Excellent experience in our first night in Portland. Every blog & webpage recommended this place and they were right. Every single dish was perfectly executed. We ordered the chef's fix with wine pairing and that was the right choice. Especially for the spaghetti with nori and shiitake mushrooms with dashi broth and the trout with brown butter and fish sauce.
A must if you visit Portland
Went here solo during a business trip. I sat at the bar and the server was informative, knowledgeable and kind. Had a great meal and highly recommend this place.
Excellent restaurant, one of my favorites in Portland, Never had a bad dish here, despite numerous visits, sometimes with large groups. Staff is super friendly too. All around excellent place to eat.
The quail dish is the best quail dish I ever had. Super juicy and tender. The perfect dish to close off the the meal. We also enjoy the foie gras and oyster a lot. Highly recommend
Absolutely lovely date spot. We were able to enjoy the Portland Dining Month menu, which turned out to be a little bit of everything from king salmon, seared steak, winter salad with beets, a tagliatelle course, and rich brownie dessert. Delicately served and the wine pairing was on point. My only complaint is if you have a 5pm reservation, they won’t let you in beforehand to have a drink - do not arrive early! And if you can’t get a reservation online, definitely call- they are so accommodating.
Had the prix fixe coursing meal last night and was utterly blown away! We got chef’s counter seating and the camaraderie among the team and the cleanliness of the kitchen were outstanding. The menu was an incredible value for the massive amount of food- for a four course meal we actually got 11 different menu items. Inventive, delicious and beautiful food. Highly recommend!!!
I don't think the English language can properly express the incredible experience my colleague and I had at Arden, last night. To say, "It was the BEST culinary experience of my life!" would be an understatement. I realize that it sounds hyperbolic in nature; but, our experience was truly THAT amazing.
While it is true that I am a self-proclaimed Foodie and Wine Enthusiast, far from writing up a review in a big name magazine, I can honestly say that from start to finish the service and tastebud experience was incredible! And, I am rather picky...
It is obvious that the staff is content and treated well. There were no signs of stress despite a nearly packed house. The service from start to finish was impeccable. The executive chef, Erik, did not disappoint with hands down, the MOST creative dishes and combinations of spices, food, and flavors that one could imagine. I highly recommend you get the sweet corn ice cream. Yes, it has shavings of foie gras. Yes, that sounds weird. And it is. But it is incredible.
The most amazing part of the adventure was the personalized wine pairing that Arden's owner and in-house sommelier provided as we journeyed through our incredible bite choices. The fact that she was able to pair a red wine perfectly with my trout (and the two were dancing together like Food Stars on Ice), was just a glimpse of the perfection that the evening provided. If you want a quaint, creative, inviting and wine-enthusiastic, foodie-driven experience, then you MUST make reservations, now! Seriously. I'm waiting...
