Love the pastrami! It was incredible. A woman on the street just recommended me to get in. She told about the pastrami and she was right. It was excellent. Very nice people too.
Portland Kettle is a family run small business right in the business district of downtown Portland. They serve a variety of delicious soups and sandwiches. I ordered the sandwich combo which is a half sandwich and soup of your choosing. The sandwich was delicious and savory and packed with pastrami, I was surprised it was considered a half, the chili is really good and was very filling. The only downside is that it was a bit dry as if it was sitting for a bit, but delicious nonetheless.
A great little diner in downtown Portland. The staff was helpful answering questions, making suggestions, patient while we dithered on what to have for lunch. Meant to remind one of a New York deli. The soups was good and the pastrami was excellent. The place it self is pretty well worn but who can get staff to clean and buff?
split pea soup, reuben and gorgonzola salad w tangerine dressing were great! Chicken noodle was a little bit on the plain side.
This was an amazing spot. My friend Mike took me there. The prices are really good. I loved eating there and am going to go back alot of times. I hope you love it too. If you have any questions I am happy to answer. Please follow me and like stuff I put up. Thanks have fun in Portland.
What an amazing place. As a former New Yorker, it's so hard to find delis like this out west.
When the staff asking me if I wanted mustard or Russian and thing if I wanted a pickle, I had never felt so seen.
The corned beef was simple but excellent.
New favorite joint. Best clam chowder ever. Don't tell the restaurants I've had it in in Boston. Great owners. 1950s Blues Music. Highly suggest. Off of 3rd between Columbia and Jefferson. Downtown on SW side.
We walked here from our hotel because we were cold and really craving soup. The food was so good, and large portions. Everything was fresh and delicious. The staff was awesome and let us sample soups and gave us recommendations.
Great food, excellent customer service and they have bottled Mexican Coca-Cola. What more can a guy ask for. I eat here often and have never been disappointed
Great pace for soup and sandwich. Soup isn't salt like some places. Blues playing in the background. Corned Beef Sandwich and Chicken Noodle soup was excellent.
Just had the split pea soup and yum. Truly can’t wait to go back and try all the other soup selections. Cheers to Fall/winter, cheers to soup, and cheers to Portland Kettle.
Excellent soup/stew options that are healthy, flavorful, and comforting. Corn bread was delicious and moist (coming from a Southern girl). Price is outstanding for the portions. Tried it on business travel; would definitely be a regular if I worked in the area.
Truly amazing place if you're in the mood for some comfort food. All the soups are tasty and the sandwiches are out of this world. My personal favorite is their pastrami sandwich- a must try!
Excellent cornbread & lemon chicken soup. Gumbo was okay. Turkey sandwich was loaded. Got lucky with parking.
Absolutely the best. If there was a Zombie apocalypse, snipers, and a pandemic Portland Kettle would be on my to top five restaurants I would risk it all to visit. The owners are generous with their greetings, hospitality and portions. Thanks for this first meal in Portland. You represent well!
Great place to have lunch. I ordered chicken noodles and soup. The customer service and food was amazing.
My favorite lunch spot for a quick, warm meal served with kindness.
My favorite soup is the lemon, chicken and rice. This place is always busy right at noon -- wait until 12:30 for the crowd to die down.
I love the staff here, and they always remember my order and dietary restrictions.
