We shared the combo plate and a milkshake! The bbq soy curls and chicken were delicious. The peanut butter cookie milk shake was incredible. I would come here again just for a milk shake!

Homegrown smoker was recommended to me by a Portland local. The jackfruit/beyond meat ribs surpassed all expectations I've ever had of vegan meat replacements. I got a combo for takeout. It was enough for 2 meals so the price for portion is great too.

We’re getting ready to launch our latest book, Kitchen Heat, and that means a lot of extra work. Spare time is at a premium which means more eating out. We’re so lucky to live in Portland, home to Homegrown Smoker. This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants ever. Their barbecued tempeh is amazing, as are the bbq soy curls. And the sides really shine. The mac and cheese can’t be beat. Also great baked beans and collards. They even have hush puppies and killer wings. Pictured is a massive burrito stuffed with soy curls, baked beans and mac and cheese—lunch and dinner. Great staff and a casual vibe.

Customer service!!!! This place had it tenfold. I wish I caught the person's name but very attentive, very kind, and just great. The food was good as well. The mocktail was tasty and even the trainee who made it made it turn out great. The BBQ plate was good and I don't even like tempeh. The salad with the Buffalo soy curls was good, the motz sticks were good. I will go again. 10 of 10

The Wings OH my goodness! Could eat those everyday, they are delicious! We had ours with BBQ sauce. The combo plate was great, we had the bbq chicken and beyond ribs. The Salted Bourbon Vanilla cheesecake was really good, and a great finish to our meal. The portions are generous, and so we brought home another whole meal. With so many options, and a friendly and helpful staff, we will be back soon to try out more of their menu.

As someone who isn't vegan but is lactose intolerant I have grown to love vegan foods. Truly one of the best locations I have ever been to. The buff burrito is simply amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. So so so good. I will definitely be back!

Another cute gem on Lombard you've gotta try! All vegan menu focusing on barbecue and southern dishes. We ordered the Beyond ribs with Mac and cheese and loved it! I'm not normally impressed by Mac and cheese but this was very flavorful. There were so many delicious looking things on the menu it was hard to pick just one! Prices were reasonable for the amount of food you got. Staff was very helpful and the place was really clean and charming.

I've wanted to try Homegrown Smoker ever since 2015 when I was living in Seattle and heard how people would take trips to Portland just to eat here. I never ended up making it until now. Since I've been wanting to go here so long, I had *very* high hopes. And the experience lived up to the hype! The overall flavor and consistency is so much better than any other BBQ or soul food I've had in Seattle, SF Bay, and LA. So, to me, it's the best on the west coast. I recommend the tempeh ribs, they're seasoned to perfection. My second favorite "protein" is the smoked chick'n. I could eat that every day. The mac and cheese is very satisfying too. The burritos here are massive in size and just too dang good! The price of the food is also very reasonable considering how large & filling the portions are

Food we ordered was sooooo good. My 13yo son and I are vegans and its incredibly rare to find restaurants with options for us where we live. Decided to make this stop on our road trip as a special treat. The noodles for the Mac n cheese were slightly more overcooked than we would have liked, but flavor still good. All the staff were very friendly too. Wish we lived closer because we would be here all the time.

So grateful this place has been saved and reopened! Beautiful spot, delicious food, and great staff. I was heartbroken when the original owners announced it was closing because I hadn’t been able to try yet, but have been several times since the new owner took over and reopened and I have loved it every time! Highly recommend you get some amazing vegan grub here. Do not skip the milkshakes.

We were lucky enough to join their reopening event. Food was delicious and service was quite warm and friendly. We had the BBQ ribs with Mac cheese, probably the best jackfruit ribs in PDX. I enjoyed the vanilla cheesecake, too.

The best vegan BBQ you will ever eat. Stand back and in awe impressed. Just so so amazing. If you have a hankering for some comfort BBQ this is your place. I haven’t had better sweet potato fries pic included. Also pictured are the fish and chips. They even have the texture and slight fish flavor down. Tarter sauce. Wow. Just look at that salad. If you leave here hungry you might need to see a doctor. Thank you for putting such effort into making incredible food. Tons of Gluten Free options. Get on down here!

Homegrown smoker is one of my favorite vegan spots in Portland. The food is amazing, the portions are huge, and it’s perfect for when you’re looking for something really hearty and filling. Even my non vegan peeps enjoy it here! Their brunchwraps (like a Crunchwrap supreme) are so dang good, I can usually get 2-3 meals out of em too. Staff if always very friendly and the decor is the cutest. Highly recommend checking it out!!!

This place was top 2 Vegan places I’ve ever had. It is extremely rare to find Vegan BBQ and people who do it right. They had the best restaurant Lemonade that I have ever had in my life (No Exaggeration). Everything was very delicious. I didn’t have anything that wasn’t top tier. If you come here, you have to try the Soy Curls and the Seitan Short Ribs. Literally finger lickin good, from the sauce to the texture. Also, I’m from the south… the collard greens were certified!! Zack was also great and very helpful, he displayed very good customer service. Overall , a great experience. I would recommend it anytime!!!

Good vegan BBQ in the heart of St. Johns. Full disclosure, I'm not a vegan or vegetarian but I have been more open to try these food options and I go in looking for flavor and texture. Homegrown Smoker does not disappoint. The wings were great. Succulent and good classic wing sauce flavor. The protein is molded around a strip of sugar cane for that bone feel. The combo plate was solid. Oddly enough while the tempeh ribs were good, they did not compete with the wings or the chikn bits. Good vegan mac, wonderfully tomato flavored sweet beans. All in all a great choice for vegan fare in North Portland.

Let me preface by saying that I'm not a vegan but this place was pretty delicious! The sauces were all fantastic, the hush puppies were delicious and I thought the textures of the different 'ribs' and soy curls were amazingly close to a meat like thing. I was highly impressed. The macnocheese was good but you should go into it not expecting mac and cheese, the flavor is slightly different and its not as creamy. But definitely worth a trip out there especially if you've been curious about vegan food!

WOW!! Made a quick stop here while in town and it was PHENOMENAL!!! We got the plate with Chik’n and Beyond Meat proteins and everything was so delicious. One plate was more than enough for two people so the price was SO worth the amount of food that you get! Will definitely come here every chance I get. Do you guys cater weddings? Lol
