This was definitely our meal of the year, chef and staff were very kind and patient, overall the flow of the course felt phenomenal. It was an anniversary night and it lived up to the hype, definitely recommend to any sushi lover. Also get the upgraded service, loved the Uni and all the special little dishes they cooked up.

4.5 stars- Came back again and the fish is so fresh and so delicious. The aged fish or fish soaked in sake is so delicious. Everything about the meal was incredible. The only thing that changed is the slices of sushi. Got thinner and thinner. ( and smaller - 150 grain rice vs 200 for perfect taste) It reminds me of a cheap conveyor belt sushi place with barely there sushi. Which is so unfair because the Sushi is so fresh and so incredible. See if they can smack the octopus on the board. ( yes it moves and changes the texture) Selection of fish more varied than last time. It was fun but I needed to order more at the end and I wasn’t full compared to when we went in may. I hope it is a one off night. Otherwise 5 stars if they can resume non-mini sushi.

It was great to talk to the chef. She was so friendly. The food was amazing. My favorite Omakase in Oregon by far.

Dinner at Nimblefish was truly amazing. The chef Design's an Omakase menu that is 11 courses from the best freshest ingredients and is then fallowed by soup and dessert. You can revisit something's you liked and explore new ones after the guided tour from the chef, do take advantage of it. Everything is made with care pride and precision. This was my first time eating sushi of this caliber and I was blown away. Yes it's a bit spendy but trust me when I say "totally worth it". It's bout the experience and the food not just one or the other. I was privileged to sample Firefly Squid that is available fresh only 6 weeks of the year and is drought in from sea of Japan. That is just one of the 11 dishes. I would also like to send a shout-out to Ren from Albatross Tattoo for setting this experience up for me, thak you Sir. Remember as always, be mindful, happy and the best you. You only go around one, so do it well.

One of the very best sushi experiences we have ever had. Top quality, highly professional presentation, friendly staff. Worth every penny.

It's really an amazing experience. The food is great and the interaction with the chefs where you can ask all about the sushi is amazing. They even pulled out a whole fish when we asked what one of them looked like.

Far and away the best sushi I’ve had in Portland, and a strong contender for best sushi ever. We’re super fortunate to have this level of omakase available. The fish was exquisite, the staff knowledgeable and friendly and the ambiance sealed the deal. Will be back as frequently as I possibly can!

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 (long wait time though, about an hour) Atmosphere: 5/5 Would recommend: yes Some of the best sashimi I have ever had. The quality of the fish really shines here. Really amazing food, but some cons are: somewhat pricey ($3-5 for a single piece) and long wait (an hour or so). Definitely a wonderful treat for your tastebuds. Try to get a spot at the bar, it looks super interesting to be able to sit there in front of the chefs who are preparing the sushi. Unfortunately we weren't seated there, but it was still a good time nonetheless. Perfect fish-to-rice ratio and their house made soy sauce is unique and different. Stop here if you have the chance.

Fantastic experience with our chef who was very welcoming and still professional during the omakase experience, and every piece of nigiri was unique and flavorful. Would love to come again in the future!

We love experiencing different Omakases and this was one of our favorites. The fish was very fresh and the sushi chef used flavors enhancements like shiso, soy, and salt well. They were complimentary and not heavy handed. There was a good variety of fish and the non-nigiri dishes paired well. Also some very good sakes by the glass. The nigiri could have been thicker but not a dealbreaker. We got the premium Omakase and added on a few extra pieces because we’re sushi fanatics. The sushi chef was friendly and provided thoughtful explanations. She also made me a lovely hand roll (which was not on the menu). Overall highly recommend!

We had the most amazing experience! Thirteen servings of the most delicious and beautifully presented sushi. The staff was perfectly attentive and created an intimate environment as they shared how the meal was sourced. 10/10!

Others have left reviews saying the food here wasn't great. I'd say I've certainly had worse food for twice as much money with worse service. Not everything we had was spectacular, but 80% of it was, and the tamago and salmon were insanely good. One of the two owners was our chef and host, and was super nice and friendly, and answered any questions we had. I wouldn't hesitate to come back again next time I'm in town and and am thankful I got to experience this restaurant and it's staff and food.

Excellent Omakase at a very reasonable $90/pp. After moving to Oregon from Southern Ca, it’s been hard to find high quality sushi in Portland. The Nimblefish experience was great with high quality fish and a decent beverage selection.

Amazing omakase! Every piece was fantastic. We’ve had good omakase elsewhere but when you come here you realize the other places were BS. So good you’ll want to eat the pieces that come out with flossing later…

OK, so I have had my fair share of omakase tasting menus. Some magnificent - Kusakabe - and some only ok - looking at you Kaiseki Yuzu... Nimblefish breaths that rare air of genuine excellence while still being a great value. The pacing and variety are topnotch. The broth with clams towards the close of dinner was perfection. The sake and beer selection is small but lovingly curated. Splurge on the upgraded omakase or don't, you'll be very pleased and full either way.

By far the best nigiri we have ever had! Excellent food and service in an intimate setting. We would absolutely recommend visiting Nimblefish for omakase and will return next time we are in Portland. Make a reservation in advance for weekend dining!

Absolutely loved the food here! An excellent omakase and the a la carte options at the end were phenomenal. Worth every penny to do the add-on too - the hot dishes in the omakase were a highlight. Stunning chawanmushi.

I lived in Tokyo for 4 years and this is the best Japanese restaurant that I’ve been to in the PNW. nimblefish combines the Japanese values of beauty, precision, and excellence with the Portland values of warmth, informality and un-pretentiousness. Great food and great service. Can’t wait to come back!
