Their ramen was amazing. The service was not bad, but it was also not impressive. They were busy. This place has pretty good Japanese cuisine.

Fast friendly service in with a very authentic atmosphere. You can choose from a traditional booth or remove your shoes and sit on the floor. We had a few appetizers, sushi and ramon. It was all delicious! We will be back!!!

This place is one of my new favorites. We got the Tuna Krab Salmon roll and it was some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. They even have traditional Japanese seating. Everything was extremely delicious and the service was amazing as well.

We had the Okinawa style noodle and Mentaiko tama-kama Udon. Great flavors in both. The Okinawa dish had big chunks of pork. The Mentaiko had poached eggs, Tarako caviar that had good flavor, the onion oil is a nice touch to the light broth. I didn't think it was spicy. We also like that they offer sushi and rice dishes. Something for everyone.

Service was great! The staff were super friendly and happy to help us out. The food portions were a little small. The rolls were tasty, but getting the spicy poke don was a little disappointing. It wasn't a lot of food for what we paid for. This place seems more like a fancier sushi place than to get a couple of cheap rolls. It was still good though!

OMG what a fantastic restaurant. The best Japanese meal I have ever eaten. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant was busy but not noisy. The staff were friendly, helpful attentive and respectful. The concept of eating on a chair with no legs and my shoes elsewhere was a novelty but not discomforting. If you are looking for somewhere to eat then look no further. I will definitely return before I leave Portland. Thank you for a fantastic experience.

We happened upon this place one afternoon for a late lunch and had a great time. We enjoyed the more traditional atmosphere and the relatively authentic menu items. My udon exceeded expectations with the yummy broth, excellent veg, and fresh noodles. The poke bowl was also better then expected with the flavorful sauce and nice fish. We tried a sake flight which was a fun opportunity to try some things we would never have splurged on otherwise. Overall, we are excited to go back to try some sushi and other donburi options.

This place was pretty expensive for what it was, but still good food. The veggie tantan ramen was not the most flavorful. The sushi was good and fresh! We also got a sake flight which was a nice way to try different flavors.

Eight person party in their private room($5 per person) - no shoes and japanese style sunken table was neat- heated floors (maybe too heated) is a nice touch. Quick service, good noods, reasonable prices for downtown

Japanese isakaya that has a Japanese pub decor. You cannot reserve in advance so you put your name on a waiting list. However, they seat you on another section where you can start with drinks. We tried the tasgy takoyakis and karaage, followed by kumamoto and shiro ramen, as well as a more dry-based ramen. Everything was delicious and service was great!

So amazing, can't recommend it enough. Come prepared to wait for an hour or so, since the only chef cooks everything fresh to order. We waited on the left with drinks as the staff is very attentive. Once we were moved to our table, food was served quickly. One of the best Japanese restaurants we've been to outside of Japan. The interior architecture is in a traditional Japanese style, and there are private rooms with shōji doors and tatami floors which may need a special reservation.

It’s a 5/5!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! ⭐️ We ordered chicken katsu curry 🍛 Salmon krab tuna sushi 🍣 Tampura udon 🍜 Mochi icecream (green tea & vanilla flavor) All the dishes we’re amazingly delicious! Really authentic, I had the tampura udon and it’s the best udon I’ve ever had in the states so far literally brought me back to Tokyo!!! 🇯🇵 The katsu curry was a bit spicy for us, but still very delicious!

Went to this place for dinner on a weekday. It was not crowded maybe that’s why we got good service. Ordered miso soup which was good, spider and California rolls were good. What I did not like was the Chicken Karaage. It was too salty and the chicken war either bad or raw (it was mushy and we could not eat it after seeing that ) Overall a decent place! The best part was the izakaya style seating and Japanese style vibe!

Absolutely stunning place! Great variety of sitting areas with a lovely authentic feel without it feeling disingenuous.

My first try at this restaurant. I heard this restaurant has been here from at least 12 years ago. Food was good, with regular Japanese restaurants line ups. They have many seatings and it was larger than it appears from outside. Service was great too. I have to return here to try many other dishes.

Came for Saturday lunch and the place was so packed that we had a 30min wait time. There are no online reservations so you have to show up in person to put down your name/cell. Their hours are a bit misleading as their lunch hours close up at 3pm and reopen later for dinner at 6pm. We used the idle time to visit the Portland Art Museum around the corner. We were called back on time. There were different types of seating available. We were seated by the front windows where you take your shoes off but you sit on a chair with no legs, but you can bend your legs under the table, but it's still short so maybe uncomfortable if you are taller than 5.5ft 😆 For an izakaya place, the menu had limited savory snack foods that go well with alcoholic drinks compared to the larger variety in the other menu categories. This was perfectly fine since we were hungry and looking for normal sized portions like their noodle and rice dishes. We went with their special garlic ramen bowl (Kumamoto Ramen) and the broth-less ramen bowl (Shio-Abu ramen). Both were satisfyingly good and would recommend. Neither of these came with bamboo shoots so I'll have to remember to read the menu closely and ask to add it next time. Due to the pandemic, they're very understaffed so don't expect too much customer service. It's suggested to put in your entire order at once as there will be a long wait time if you add additional orders later. If you are short on time, you will need to flag down a waiter asap to get their attention.
