Great place for some good drinks and quick bites! the rooftop bar was perfect for the Portland weather, with fun house made cocktails to enjoy.
Love this place! Not only are the drinks awesome, the food!!! Did I mention the food? Depending on what night it is there seems to be something going on (on the fun side of things). Very community and neighborhood oriented.

Wowowow, really loved this place and can't wait to come again! The food was incredibly high quality and so good. We ordered steak skewers as an appetizer and that immediately set the bar super high, we ended up ordering another plate of them because we couldn't get enough. Even the plate garnish they came with was good.
I got the steak frites and it was a nicely cooked steak and a good sized plate for $18. My partner got the fried chicken sandwich as a salad (all sandwiches can be turned into a salad) and it was very flavorful and again, high quality.
For drinks we got the Black Forest and Miss Williams. They were both delicious. Presentation was top notch.
Our server was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was nice and mellow. Overall it was a really lovely visit.

Shine Distillery is a nice find in a quaint up-and-coming neighborhood in North Portland. The atmosphere, though loud, was fun and trendy, and the waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable of their products. This review is primarily about the brunch they serve on Saturday and Sunday. We have every intention of going back for lunch or dinner soon.
First, the cocktail I had was the best morning drink I’ve ever tasted. Called the Bumble Bourbon, it is made with Shine Bourbon Whiskey with a dash of honey, but it’s not too sweet and the squeeze of orange peel makes it fresh and delicious. I also tasted the Shine whiskey and vodka - both were very good.
As far as the food, we tried a shareable called Breakfast corn dogs. My husband and I were not impressed. The batter was too crunchy and overcooked. It’s a good idea, but this item needs a bit of work. My meal was the quiche of the day with tomatoes and spinach piled high with arugula. I liked this meal, and I felt the arugula added to the flavors of the quiche without being too over the top. My husband’s meal, steak and eggs, proved to be a little on the salty side. The steak was cooked very well and was very tender, and the verde salsa had a little spice. The crispy potatoes were extremely salty, and the eggs came over-hard instead of over-easy. To be fair, we weren’t sure if the cook was having a bad cooking day, was in a hurry, or if the recipes called for a lot of salt, but overall, there was something just off about the food. It wasn’t terrible; it was just off.
Holy cow, the food is delicious! We had the fried chicken, gumbo, rueben and mac n cheese. Fantastic! So was my adult beverage. Brought home some hibiscus gin. Service was awesome, too. Loved the place!
The new waffle fries with the Idaho Nachos are soooooo good. Hope they keep them.
As for a meal, the Reuben is great but always get extra thousand island because you can never go wrong with more sauce.
Love this place!! We live close by, so Shine has become a regular haunt for us. The servers and bartenders are all top notch. The drinks are high quality, and the food is always delicious. Grab bottles of their house-distilled booze to go! The gin and whiskey are staples of our home bar. They also do some great events: drag bingo, drag brunch, etc. but it’s also a great place to have date night or grab a night cap. We’re so happy to have this bar in the neighborhood!
Last night we held our annual company holiday party at Shine Distillery & Grill and had such a great experience! We have a small retail business located nearby with a team of 18 and their upstairs bar space was just perfect for our group! The owner, Jon, was so attentive and accommodating, the food and drinks were great as was the service! We had such a fabulous time and we hope to host more parties in the future in this cool space. Thank you, Shine! We will be back!
Live in the area and pleased this place was finally able to open when it did after so much government rigmarole. Love the $25 steak night. Love the brunch. Staff are always friendly and prompt. Gin is good, too. Cheers all around to Shine!
Shine's soft opening feels already polished! Courteous, friendly staff turned out delicious cocktails on a whim. This gorgeous space, open atmosphere, and rooftop deck is going to be a great home to bites and beers in the neighborhood.
The brunch at Shine was fantastic. The biscuits and gravy tasted fresh. The Bloody Mary spiced right. Lots of cocktails available with spirits made in house. Can’t wait to go again.
Wonderful happy hour! Shine provided games to play. They had a great selection of games and each game was in great condition. The owner came to our table many times to check in with us and offered great conversation. I will definitely go back!
Been here a couple times for drinks and have been pleased with the atmosphere and quality of drinks. The rooftop is perfect for those nice days.
Really great rooftop and space. Burger was good, as well as the Vietnamese style poutine. Happy hour cocktails are a decent deal as well.
The food was really good. Second time I've been there. The drag through has got to be the best thing around!! Lulu luscious is awesome!
Loved the drinks and how u can purchase the mixes urself to take home! Service was fantastic! Loved the rooftop bar the most. Good people watching.
