YUM!. I wandered around Cartlandia today and settled on Cheesesteak Nirvana and I'm so glad I did!
The cheesesteak sandwich (I had The Vatican) was delicious!! So flavorful and plenty of food.
The service was a little surly but not bad.
I'll be back!
Great quality steak used...excellent cheese steak. Had the "Fundamentalist" with provolone... highly recomended!
My husband and I shared the Vatican. Best cheesesteak ever! Hands down. The owner was super nice and quick. We will be back!
"Make me one with everything". Deliciously decadent and authentic Cheesesteaks - you even can choose to have 'real' cheese whiz. This is one of my favorite Cartlandia trucks.
This guy is really serious about making the real deal cheese steak. You know what? He did it. Unless you want to spring for the airfare to Philly, go no farther. It's the best Portland can offer.
FANTASTIC!!!! I drive past cartlandia almost everyday and never stop maybe it was true fear of eating out of a cart from S.E portland but today my sisters and I made the leap of faith and stopped by. Cheesesteak nirvana was truly delicious! The chef was super friendly. He made himself a loyal customer in all 3 of us : )
I'm not usually a cheese steak fan, but I tried their 6" Fundamentalist and was very pleasantly surprised. The steak was seasoned deliciously and with just Tillamook cheddar it was perfect. I had thought I might want some horseradish, but one bite turned into sandwich gone! I will definitely be back for more! One bite was all that was left by the time I remember to take a pic. It met its fate seconds later.
I've been going here for the past two years on a regular basis. On the sandwich note, Not once have I been let down. I 100% love the cheesesteaks. So far they have been consistently delicious!
Second note, The dude has never been rude. He's a bit gruff, but we can't all be people persons. I'm a really sensitive person and people can make me cry without trying...I've never felt like crying, this dude is just fine and makes a great sandwich.
I see quite a few people giving Cheesesteak Nirvana a bad review because they feel that the guy behind the grill is rude. Well, quite honestly the first time I ever ate at this gem of a food truck I felt somewhat the same. However after a few visits and conversations with the gentleman and after getting to know him a bit he's actually a pretty cool guy! Everybody has bad days give the guy a break! DO NOT LET THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS KEEP YOU FROM TRYING THIS FOODTRUCK, IT IS AMAZING! You will not be disappointed! The rolls he uses, I hear are flown in from Philly and they are fresh and delicious. The ratio of bread/meat/veggies/cheese is perfectly proportioned and the flavor of the meat is out of this world! Cheesesteak Nirvana is one of the best if not THE best cheesesteak spot in Portland, hands down. Give Cheesesteak Nirvana a try and I am quite sure you will feel the same, you will not be disappointed!
I've been here several times. The cheesesteak is one of my favorites I've had and my husband is from Philly so I've had some pretty good ones! The dude is gruff, but always gets my order right and it's always hot and tasty. Plus he brings it to me, rather than yelling my name and hoping I hear it. It's the small things.
Best philly I’ve had in Oregon, hands down. Tried it for the first time last week and have been thinking about it ever since! Owner was great, really nice guy. Highly recommend. I had the opposite experience as the 1star reviewers, and I’m telling y’all it’s worth trying for yourself.
Seriously great cheese steak. Maybe the best I've ever had. Everyone gives bad ratings because they don't like the guy, but if he makes me food like this every time I come here he can talk to me however he wants. I loved it. My wife loved it. You'll love it. Go here.
Best cheesesteak I have ever had. The guy is pretty much like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld. Fairly cranky, but consistently so... If you've ever been to the East Coast, it's pretty on par with the attitude you will get from the famous cheesesteak places in Philly. If you order wrong, you get NO Cheesesteak! Haha. We eat here at least 2 times a week. I bring my friends here. I warn them to order right, tell the funny stories about how cranky the guy is... And we share a laugh over the best cheesesteak in town!
These cheesesteaks are exceptional for the price the closest thing to a Philadelphia cheesesteak that you were going to find. There should be a distinction between the quality the cheesesteak and your personal feelings about customer service. My man does it right.
Came by today and tried this cart on a whim and I’m so glad I did. I tried the fundamentalist with pepper jack, super yummy!
I’m honestly surprised by the rating and reviews on here, the owner was friendly and even came out to ask us how we liked the food.
Best Cheesesteak in the city. No one is even close. That's why you go. If you're looking for chit-chat, making friends or service with a smile, go elsewhere. This place is all about the cheesesteak. I've read these reviews that say "worst customer service" but I think he is just succinct, matter of fact and possibly a little curt. Maybe a kiosk ordering system would help. Bad service, imo, is not caring, not wanting to be there, getting it wrong or forgetting about you and he is none of those things.
Best cheesesteak sandwich ever. I hope this guy never leaves Cartlandia. Sometimes I've gone there specifically for his food and he's not there, so I'd recommend calling first. 5 stars on the food he makes, ignore everything else.
Shame on these reviews. I've been going here for my cheese steak fix for about 5 years. The best I've tried not close. Never chat with the dude but that's not what I want from him.. I want his dank sammichs. Keep it up sir 👌🖖

The Cheesesteaks are amazing and service is just as I would expect from him; as there has been no change over the last 5 years at least. Can’t wait to go back.
