On. Point. I've been going out in Portland for years, and my favorite meal in the city is Brunch. Chaval's brunch is by far the best brunch I've had in our little foodie city. I had a mimosa to start which was awesomeness, fresh OJ paired with a light sparkling wine, perfectly blended ( you'd me surprised how many places can botch such an easy cocktail) My next order was the " Brunch in Paris." Oh. My. God. Was this tasty. Something about the fried egg, perfectly cooked with the yolk seeping into the baguette which is covered end to end in warm buttery Brie, along with onion jam, just makes my mouth sing. The entree is paired with a vibrant green salad with a light zesty dressing and just compliments the whole dish. Wait. I forgot to mention the decor... Exposed wooden beams, denim navy paint to off set the wood, cozy and stylish, to accompany the music and vibe. I haven't been this enthralled with a Portland Eatery in years.

What a great spot! There were 6 of us and we enjoyed the little private room downstairs. Very cozy. Our waitress was great along with other staff. The food was very very good. I had the venison and it was done to perfections. The pate appetizer was great. The churros for dessert was yummy too. Definitely would go back.

Every server knew the menu (and cocktails) inside and out. The food is incredible, traditionally prepared, with some unique twists and beautiful when it arrives at the table. I don't think I've ever felt more welcomed at a restaurant before. Make it a regular spot!!!

I had the best extra dirty vodka martini that I'd ever had! In fact everything was delicious, the only disappointing thing was that I had eaten so much that I didn't have any room left for dessert (this is on me obviously) , I really wanted a churro! I hope to return soon to try more dishes and finally get that churro! I wanted to add that the service was also excellent.

A welcome addition to the West End! Great service and amazing food and drink in a newly renovated space. A lively atmosphere doesn't hinder the staff from their attention to small details, like refilling water and clearing plates. On our visit, we were inspired to try many dishes (including two desserts which is a rarity for us).

What an incredible restaurant! We loved the tomato bread appetizer (had 2 orders!), jamon, papas bravas and pate. We had the amazing steak frites and roped it all off with great wine and dessert. This is the best!

This was an amazing dinner, served family style, in an outdoor space that was enchanting! From a roasted pepper, potato gratin and cheese course through grilled eggplant, suckling pig, roasted sweet potato, grilled zucchini ... right down to the grilled crusty great and a delicious dessert of a cake with a cream center and fruit topping! It was a delicious night that will be remembered!

Best brunch in Portland, hands down. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. I had the Benedict and duck confit cinnamon bun. Both interpretations were amazing. Standouts: the frosting on the cinnamon bun and the onion potato jam.

Damian Sansonetti and Ilma Lopez have hit a home run and I for one am grateful. Beautiful dishes in a contemporary, light and comfortable space. Gorgeous outdoor seating as well. Everything was spot on.

We'd made outdoor reservations but it POURED rain, so the staff found us seating at the bar. It turned out better than we expected. Our bartender was great to talk with, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the restaurant and the city, the food was perfect, creative, delicious, presented gorgeously. Watching the crew at work from the bar was a perk of the whole experience. Do not sleep on Chaval!

This is a great neighborhood restaurant, with a menu that keeps favorites while always have seasonal and unique additions. The eggnog at Christmas time is especially lovely and their dessert chef is the best in Portland (if not all of New England)

We had dinner here and the food was solid, but it wasn’t anything special and service wasn’t the greatest. We got the deviled eggs, autumn salad, and coq au vin. Our server would disappear a lot and we ran out of the bottle water a few times. She seemed inexperienced. It took over 15 mins after we finished all our meals to give us the check and finally give us more water. Not the best experience, but maybe we just had a one off night.

A true culinary gem hiding behind an unassuming facade, and I am so happy to have found this place. The menu consists mainly of small and shareable tapas style plates with a few main courses added in, but rest assured that whichever menu item you choose, it will delight and tickle your palate. The open kitchen provides insight into how much care is being put into the execution and presentation of each dish, and the resulting complex and multi tiered flavor experiences do not disappoint. There is also a full bar along with a carefully curated cocktail menu should you care to get your buzz on. And as if all of this wasn't quite enough, the staff is nothing short of wonderful. They are passionate about food and drink, very knowledgeable in regards to the menu, and they will go out of their way to make you not only feel welcome but downright at home. I was hooked after my first visit and am looking forward to returning here often and bringing my friends.

Went with a party of 4 for New Years Eve dinner in one of the greenhouses. Awesome food, and a really unique and comfortable "outdoor" dining experience. Jessica did an amazing job servicing our table. Only 4 stars due to difficulty getting martinis made correctly, but otherwise 5 stars.
