My favorite breakfast place in Portland. The daily specials are where it's at! A dollar or two more than a dive diner but we'll worth it!

Good buzz, great food, happy place for breakfast/brunch/lunch. Colorful and cheerful, fascinating open kitchen. Locally sourced sausages, perfectly cooked eggs.

Everything on the menu is dope, as is the service. Best southern soul food in Maine!

Fricken heaven. Atmosphere is perfect, staff friendly, huevos rancheros amazing. Just finished a breakfast of omelet with salsa Verde, black bean chili, cheddar and spinach with red beans and rice and blueberry cornbread. Good coffee, lots of hot sauce. And for a place with andouille, crawfish and hash, lots of veg options. Again, heaven.

I live in Lisbon, so 'trips' for breakfast are extremely limited. This place is one of the reasons for the hassle. Even the coffee is a standout.

Nothing bad here. Small place but it's worth the wait. I had the Hurrincane omelet and tore it up with some Cajun hot sauce.

Doesn't get much better than this place for breakfast. Atmosphere is awesome, friendly staff, and fantastic food. Gets crazy on the weekends but they do their best to keep up with it and the food is always worth the wait.

Tres bien. I was here with the kids and their significant others yesterday for Father's Day brunch. I had to huevos rancheros. Highly recommended. Try to get there on a moderately cool, non-humid day.

Coffee pancakes. Three kinds of corn bread. Amazing omelets. With a side of rice and beans. Plus great music playing and an alligator on the wall. Where else but bayou kitchen

We discovered Bayou Kitchen when searching for brunch spots in the Portland area. All the reviews we read were positive and we couldn't agree more. The smells are incredible, even before you get through the front door. The staff is friendly and laid back, even though it was incredibly busy. The food is very good and definitely has a southern flair to it. Judging by the crowd, this is a popular place, and with good reason. If you are in the Portland, Maine area, definitely give Bayou Kitchen a try!!

Great food and awesome service! The wait staff apologized profusely for our wait which we didn't mind. Exceptional service and the coffee was always full! The Coffee flavored pancakes were incredible! The Huevos rancheros was very good and so was the Omelette. The corn bread was good, but I had better ones. Overall, reasonable price, good food, and great service. I will definitely come back again.

The omlettes and scrambles are amazing. Great flavor choices and we were very pleased. The homemade cornbread was also a winner! Constructive Feedback: Cooking grits requires "southern love" aka: butter and seasoning! I was really looking forward to grits, but without any salt/pepper/seasoning or butter it's just not something I'd order again.

The best breakfast I’ve had, anywhere. I’ve been coming to this place for about 15 years, and they’ve still got it. I’ve never had a bad meal, and the staff is awesome. My girlfriend and I got all the food pictured (2 massive breakfasts) for a little over $18. You would be missing out if you didn’t stop here while in Portland.

Delicious food, friendly service. Loved the variety of choices, specially the cornbread! I got the jalapeño cheddar cheese cornbread, my friend got the blueberry one.

The breakfast here was wonderful! The corned beef hash was excellent and I loved that the table had hot sauce to garnish the food. I can’t wait to go back to try their lunch options.

This place made me believe in mankind again. Soooo great. I had the swamp omelet which was just terrific. My fiancée had the huevos rancheros that we're also delightful. The side of pancake did make her smile again. Was really great! Price is also super great. My dish was about $9.75 which I find amazing. Go check it out!
