Literally the best breakfast sandwiches we've ever had! Their apple and maple scone was delicious as well! They had wonderful customer service, we will definitely be back again!

I spent around $15 for a small mocha and a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. The breakfast sandwich was incredible, the mocha on the other hand was not. It tasted very muddy and very sub par for a mocha. I would go back for the food and the customer service. But the mocha and the price for my order has me weary.

This place cannot be serious. My “latte” that costs over $5 could literally be swallowed up by my hand. I didn’t even know they made paper cups this small. I’m shocked. How can you possibly feel good about your business when charging this much for 10 sips of coffee? You make NY and MA look cheap. Bottom line, go to Starbucks.

Great coffee and pastries!
Got the maple cappuccino and brown butter blueberry muffin. Absolutely delicious.

Had a great iced coffee! My husband LOVED their coffee. It was strong fruity & refreshing! A great spot for a take away coffee. They don't have really any food options (other than a handful limited pastries in the case).

The Tower Shot had me feeling like I could run a marathon on no sleep- add some whole milk & simple syrup and it’s the perfect drink for tired travelers. Support this local shop ❤️

Spent this last weekend drinking coffee in almost every coffee shop around Portland & Speckled Ax was ABSOLUTELY the best that I had. The shop is beautiful and simply decorated. The menu is not extravagant, it simply highlights the delicious coffee. The maple latte is spectacular, as is the cortado. The two baristas I interacted with were the sweetest. Would definitely come back & if I lived in the area, I’d be a regular at that nice high top counter.

Speckled Ax is my #1 coffee shop in Portland, ME. I've hit all the popular local coffee shops and their Maple Latte is hands down my favorite coffee drink to get in the area. The ambiance is great. I love the small shop on Congress. Once this pandemic is over and we can all enjoy our favorite local spots again, I'll be back at Speckled Ax for a relaxing visit. You won't be disappointed.

While waiting for a spot at a local diner to become available, I came across a minimalistic looking coffee spot just around the corner. Don’t be fooled. The coffee they brew here, especially the pour over, has complex notes and ridiculously delicious. One of the coffees we tried tasted almost like tea, yet still undeniably coffee in almost every other sense. If you have time, and looking for some great quality coffee, this place won’t disappoint. Highly recommend!

Coffee doesn’t get any better than this petite establishment in Portland. Even a simple shot of espresso is served in handmade pottery on a wooden plank with a dainty spoon and a glass of sparkling water. The flavor of the wood roasted beans shines through every delicious sip. Attention to detail is exquisite. A must stop for any serious coffee aficionado.

A relative tipped me off to this place before I arrived. Among the best cups I've had. Awesome place, awesome staff, and great tunes in the background to boot. Coffee as it was meant to be consumed. Note: if you are looking for a triple giant mocha peanut butter minty half caff with whipped cream and sprinkles and hot fudge waved through the mists of Avalon just before serving, keep walking. This place serves real coffee...not the stuff from Disney movies.

The finest coffee in Maine, even with some pretty talented competition, and as down to earth a crew as they come. Love these folks!

We tried this coffee in a little coffee shop in Maine (across the world for us Arizonans) back when it was Matt's Coffee and were SO pleased to hear that they ship to AZ. Since then, we regularly treat ourselves to what we feel is the best coffee we've ever had! We are actually ordering quite a bit to give to family for Christmas this year. No better way to spread cheer than with a hot cup of this delicious coffee!

Came from NYC to visit Portland and randomly stumbled across Speckled Ax. Some of the BEST (if not the best) coffee I have ever tasted in my 42 years of loving beans. Will make the greatest gift for coffee lovers. Buying lbs now to give out and spread the word! You should too.

I grew up in Maine and unfortunately only got to taste this perfect coffee a couple of times before moving away. Now, each time I’m back, my first stop is Speckled Ax. Before I do anything else I need their coffee!

Fantastic - REAL - espresso macchiato that would make Italy proud. Beans roasted evenly in a brick-lined, wood fired roaster. If you know coffee, this is a MUST in Portland...☕️☕️☕️

this is coffee from the Gods. That's all you need to know

Got a chance to visit a number of coffee shops in the Portland area. The Specked Ax is my vote for the best of the lot. The coffee is amazing, made with folks who really know what they are doing. Wish we could have stayed longer to try out even more great coffee, but we will be back!

By far the best coffee money can buy. Wood roasted is the so unique and flavorful.
