Wonderful establishment, reminds of the Caribbean restaurants I dine at when in Miami. Cowfoot on Fridays, Ox Tails, Cirry Goat and jerk. I'm in heaven with choices like this

I have been to Sylvia's many times and I must say, without a doubt, that Sylvia's Jamaican restaurant is the best place to get jamaican food in the (845) area. Authenticity 5-star Quality 5-star Taste 5-star Service 5-Star Staff 5-star I have nothing terrible to say about this wonderful establishment. The staff is sincere and respectful. The quality and taste of food is better than any competing West Indian/Jamaican restaurants in the near-by vicinity. As a Jamaican myself, I really appreciate how they focus on the Authenticity of the taste of the food and not try to cater too much to an American audience by changing the recipe. They're formula has proven that authentic Jamaican can be succesful. I will continue to be a strong supporter of this restaurant and I strongly advise anyone looking for REAL Jamaican cuisine, to stop by(or call ahead) and try their food. You will not be disappointed

My first time there got there about A half hour before closing so they said they were out of a lot of food. I had to get the red snapper. I'm glad I did it was good. Along with cabbage which was not seasoned enough but edible

NICEST PEOPLE HERE! Fantastic food. Every time I have visited, the customers and the staff are always incredibly sweet - one person even went out of her way to check for me if they had beef patties left! The beef patties are amazing, the mixed veggies and cabbage were seasoned so well. Fried plantains were good, and the oxtail was delicious! They usually have limited stocks of food, which is okay even if I miss out on some food because then you know it's fresh. If you want all the good stuff (like the dumplings usually sell out quick), come here exactly at or their posted breakfast and lunch times!

I did not expect to find a Jamaican restaurant in Poughkeepsie. Its been years since I aet such cuisine. The jerk chicken was very tasty. Overall it was a delicious meal. The beer had a good taste. Just a walk a few blocks and your able to enjoy good food with such view. I recommend this restaurant.
