I eat off the food truck tonight and I own a food truck business. They were absolutely terrific. I love the steak sandwich and the dragon slayer burger. Truly the best burger I have eaten. I did put ketchup on it because it was so good just the way they made it. Seek them out and eat their food. Thanks Cubby's!
Delicious, celiac safe, friendly staff. Good gluten free buns, and truly gluten free fries, a rare win/win.
I just had lunch in Taylorsville and it was amazing! My tri-tip salad was packed with flavor, the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. I will definitely be back and will be recommending this place!
Always the best! Seriously my favorite place! 🍔🍟
Perfection today!!!
I have to say I was impressed. I had the Houdini burger. It was absolutely perfect. The mushroom, cheese and Garlick with perfect bread (buns). They were very quick and we sat outside and enjoyed the 75 degree weather. What a mouth watering burger. Just when you think you have had a very good burger someone else cooks a better one. Great job Cubby’s. First time eating here.
When trying a new restaurant, I always want to try what they are known for. So, today I got the Mr. Beef- wet and hot. The size of the roll was a little smaller than expected, but overall a great sandwich. Very messy and flavorful. Rosemary fries were delicious, and went great with the fry sauce.
A quality meal in a hectic and loud facility dominated by a very young crowd. We walked through the order line unsure of what we wanted since they are going through a menu change and the items we had predetermined from reviews posted here were no longer available. The pleasantly helpful staff answered all of our questions, and we settled on a Dragonslayer burger, a sausage sandwich, and macaroni and cheese. All three selections exceeded our expectations. The quality beef used in the burger melded well with the fresh ingredients. After adding a little hot sauce, the sandwich rang my bell. The real star was the Italian sausage sandwich. Tasty sausage served in a fresh bun, covered with giardiniera, and accompanied by a side of the beef broth used in the Chicago beef. My wife dipped her sandwich ala au jus. After hearing her moans of pleasure, I had to plead for a taste. She reluctantly complied. I should have gotten the sausage. Unlike most afterthought sides served in establishments like this, the mac and cheese was very good. Bring your earplugs, wear your college garb, and go here...IT'S GOOD.
Found Cubby's Food Truck at Soho Food Park in Halladay last evening, so turned around. My burger- a single 'dragon slayer' was perfect finish to a wonderful day. Anxious to have Sugarhouse location open, too!
Tri-tip sandwich is fantastic. I added the blue cheese to make it even better. We are also huge fans of the buffalo fries. The tri-tip salad is also good. As one who grew up in Chicago, though, I'm a little disappointed by the Italian beef which is a Chicago original and staple. The beef was ok, but the giardinaire is blah.
Cubby's tri-tip salad is amazing!!! Not hardy like the Cafe Rio salad, which I like! It's more of a healthy, skinny salad. But it still fills you up :)
Awesome. Good food. awesome place. decent price. love it here
What a treat cubby's was! I went in with no expectations and over and above delivered on huge flavor. All food is organic, grain fed, free range and wonderful.
Great new Provo option. Had the cubby burger with sweet potato fries and my girlfriend had the beet salad. Everything was really great. The salad was enormous. I'll definitely go again. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other items on the menu!
Mr. Beef sandwich was okay. Lots of thinly sliced beef and giardiniera on a light, airy, yet chewy roll. I got it wet, so there was enough juice to make the roll wet, but not disintegrate.
It was okay. No complaints...I guess I'm just not a big Chicago beef sandwich fan. However, it was good enough that I'd come back and try something else.

Cubby's was awesome! I loved the atmosphere and variety of choices on the menu. Everything is home grown from this area and I love that! We will definitely be going back!!
I had the tri tip steak sandwich. It was very good.
I'm a big fan of Cubby's Mr Beef. I love the french-dipped (not french dip) sandwich and the zesty high quality beef. The peppers were good but didn't like the carrots & celery so much, but the seasoning is great. For bleu cheese lovers I HIGHLY recommend the Buffalo Bleu fries which can easily feed 3-4 people. By buddy loved the tri-tip steak sandwich. Cubby's offers unique, rich flavors to the traditional sandwich. I highly recommend for a break from the traditional, boring lunch.
A little spendy, but totally worth it for a great lunch with friends.
Best Burger in Utah. In case one doesn't look at my blog post above, lemme recommend the Dragonslayer Burger. You won't regret it, and you might want to order two.
I wanted to try something new here in Provo and this was a home run!!! The service was fast, the food incredibly flavorful (this is incredibly important here in Provo) and the prices are unbeatable! You can't find food that tastes this good for these prices here. The Mr. Beef is like a French dip chicago style and got a thumbs up but the real kicker was the buffalo blue cheese fries. Definetly tops my list of Provo restaurants.

Great Place To Watch The Olympics!. While planning an ascent of Nebo, the highest peak in Utah Valley, the lads and I needed a place to satisfy our enormous appetites that were sure to build up while hiking. While hiking one of the hardest trails I've been on I was salivating over this place I had never even eaten at. Much to my dismay I often frequent the Little Caesar's establishment next door due to the cheap pizza freely available to a guy on a tight schedule. Needless to say I had noticed Cubby's coming in and awaited the opening with great anticipation. Walking in and smelling the meat fresh on the grill was quite the experience. The place is cozy and very quaint. The food is great! A huge chalk menu adorns the southern wall with some pretty interesting interior decorating on the opposite wall. The place is obviously a hit as it is packed with plenty of clients seeking a decent beef sandwich in a wretchedly bland place like Provo. I ordered the Tri Tip Steak Sandwich and was greatly impressed with the amount of meat. The bun was scrumptious. As I enjoyed my sandwich the three large TVs entertained us with women's volleyball--the United States pulling in for the win over Korea. If you are ANYWHERE in the vicinity of Central Utah County be sure to slide in to Cubbys for a Great sandwich, ambiance, and might I also mention great yet hard to locate bathrooms. Reasonably priced.
Loved It!. I came here because of the review at eatbyu.com and I completely agree with their rating. My wife and I both had the TriTip Sandwich with Mustard BBQ sauce. We had never heard of mustard barbecue sauce before, but we both thought it was amazing. The steak is so fresh, and the onions were sauteed perfectly. We had the bleu cheese fries as well, and they were great, though they did make quite a mess. We came in at 8:50, and we didn't want to keep them open too long so we took our order to go. The atmosphere seems great though, and I plan on us returning during they day so we can sit down and enjoy the place more.
Wowsers!!!. Now this is the spot, my family and i absolutely love it. They have the best sandwiches, however there salads are the bomb so delicious. There's something for everyone and the drinks are great, there for sure to have your favorite in stock. You should not drive through Provo without stopping here. If i lived closer we would eat here everyday :) here your for sure to eat fresh and leave satisfied.
Excellent Chicago-Style Food. I felt like I was at a pub or restaurant down the road from Wrigley field in Chicago. It's hidden a bit since it's in a strip mall next to Little Caesar's pizza, but it's worth searching for. As you can see on the pictures here on Urbanspoon, the menu is written on a giant chalkboard on one side of the restaurant. The other side has benches and walls made from what looks like an old wooden house or barn. There aren't a lot of seats in the restaurant (maybe 20-30?) but they were all full the whole time we were there (which is a good sign)
The owner took our order and gave honest reviews (pretty funny considering he is the chef and he likely thinks the whole menu is wonderful). We tried both tri tip steak items on the menu: the sandwich and the salad. The salad was really good and I would recommend it for a light meal. The sandwich was mouth-wateringly excellent. I want it again just looking at the picture I uploaded here. The rosemary fries were good although they took a few bites to get used to.
For a quick bite to eat in Provo with fun service and 3 tv's with sports on, I suggest eating at Cubby's.
Rib city tri tip steak sandwich or salad are awesome!! Love it...will be back for sure!
Will be back. Good, quick, and convenient food. It's located right next to Little Caesars, and it's a lot better. I'm glad this place has 100% approval, but i'm sure the'll upset some competition and they'll start voting Cubby's down.
My new favorite eats!. Seriously, I can't say enough good things about Cubby's. I first noticed it when I stopped for coffee a few doors down at Coffee Pod and--loving Italian beef sandwiches--made a mental note to stop by and try it when they opened for business. I noticed they were open last week, so I checked it out and I'm glad I did!
Location - 5th West and Bulldog. Close to BYU, right across from IHC. Tons of traffic for them.
Ambiance - simple, clean, and funky rustic - lots of attention to detail, from the chalkboard wall to what looks like reclaimed lumber
Menu - Italian Beef sammies, burgers, dogs, salads and gourmet fries. Even better, Cubby's is committed to using organic (always), fresh, local produce (when it's seasonal), local grass-fed, hormone and antibiotic-free beef and hormone and antibiotic-free free range chicken. Their wall says "We do not own a can opener! We don't freeze our food! All of our food is fresh as can be and top quality for our peeps!" I love it!
Staff - the owner, Cub, works the register and is very friendly. Glancing through the restaurant blog, you can see the restaurant is a product of love and pride. Also, there looks to be an ex-Communal cook working in the kitchen. Communal is another of my favorite places, so that's a plus, IMO!
Price - reasonable. I can get a great, filling "Heart Attack" for under $10. Today, it was about $23 for my sandwich, a foot-long Italian beef sandwich my teens split, 3 bottled drinks and an order of the sweet potato fries.
Experience - I've now eaten there twice in about 7 days (once to go and once onsite). Each time it's been great and each time I've had the Heart Attack (Italian beef with an Italian sausage, for good measure), wet and hot ( the entire sandwich is dipped in Italian au jus) and with homemade giardiniera (a spicy pickled mix of peppers, celery, olives, etc...). Everything about this sandwich is great: the meat is savory, the jus is perfect, the giardiniera is crisp and spicy and the bread has the perfect consistency. Today, when I introduced my kids to Italian beef for the first time, we also got the sweet potato fries. While I like sweet potato fries, in general, I really wanted the bleu cheese buffalo fries, but my kids overruled me. No lie, though, these were the best sweet potato fries I've EVER had! In other places, they never seem to turn out crispy enough, since they don't have as much starch as regular potatoes. At Cubby's, they were perfectly crisp and perfectly seasoned; we devoured them!
I've been raving about this place to my friends and family and I can't wait to go back and try some of their other items! Sometimes, when you check out a brand new place you just know it's not going to last (Angels of Philly, for example). With Cubby's, I know it's going to be a huge success!

Isn't the name alone enough to visit this place? We went here on New Years Eve while visiting friends in Provo, Utah. This was less than an hour after I picked up food from The Smoking Apple . They love the place and that was enough to say "let's go!" Apparently, the place is so popular that you typically wait for over 15 minutes just to order. So much so that they recently expanded into the space next door. It was very quiet on New Years Eve however. This made it nice so that we didn't have to wait long for this highly recommended food. Cubby's has a few salad selections and many sandwich options. On this night, we were not here for a salad. The sandwich menu does have a couple burger options. One of these is the Dragonslayer: Bleu Cheese Burger with Spring Mix Red Onions, Tomatoes, Pickles, Bacon and Buffalo Sauce. Sounds delicious and it was good. It wasn't however the world's greatest as I might have hyped it up to be. Dragonslayer Burger Rachel ordered the Rip City Tri-Tip Steak S
It's just a fun, little, convenient place. I'll be back for sure. (oh and it's one of those places that keep everything fresh and don't use can openers)
Check out the cow underneath the Cubby’s sign! I made the instant connection to back when I was a kid. So now everyone knows how to lure me into a restaurant, just put a picture of a cow in front of your place.
Finally! A place so much more worthy than Little Caesar's, Carl's Jr, or Sonic to eat at that is within walking distance of our house! I've been really excited to try this restaurant ever since I saw the sign pop up around the corner, and am pleased to announce that it more than lived up to my hopes and dreams. When we first entered Cubby's, Owen immediately loved the chic wood and chalkboard interior. When we asked Cubby what was "Chicago" about the beef, he explained that the meat is from local sources (making it extra fresh and delicious) but is prepared in traditional Chicago styles, like the steak sandwich and hot dogs. I'm a huge buffalo sauce lover, so I knew we HAD to try the blue cheese buffalo fries. The blue cheese was milder
I was impressed with Cubby's. They were super busy but we didn't wait an unreasonable amount of time and the food was fresh and delicious. Cubby's tries to use local resources as much as possible which, as you know, is always impressive to me. I hear they are opening a new location in American Fork, making it a little bit closer to us. We will definitely be going back, I am craving it already!
It's the first time I've ever considered ordering a second burger right after consuming one. P.S.-The house-made avocado spread? Request it.
It is a rare joy when you discover a restaurant that serves 5 star food for not much more than fast food. I love those places ’cause they are perfect for a casual date night, for take-out on a lazy cooking night, or for just about any reason you can come up with. Cubby’s Chicago Beef is exactly that kind of gem. Oh, I love it! We’ve been a few times and have never been disappointed.
I thought the rosemary fries were okay, and the sweet potato fries were really good. I got the Houdini burger, which I thought was good overall. I liked the greens on it with the melted gouda. The bun was soft and fresh, and the aoli was flavorful. It tasted like an expensive burger you might find at a higher end restaurant or steakhouse. Just a bit more expensive ingredients than a typical "BigMac" that's for sure! So that leads to the big question, was it good? I say, "Yeah, Cubby's has decent food." Will I be back soon? Am I looking forward to another visit sometime in the future? I honestly don't think I'll care to come back or feel interested enough in this place to see myself here again. I would definitely rather head to Chom or Habit for a burger&fries instead.
The women of the family love Cubby’s. They always like their salads. I always seem to find some thing I like as long as they stay away from the tri-tip sandwich. That sandwich overall has made me sad too many times in the past to try it again This time around we tried a few items that were new to us and left a very happy.
Houdini burger - 4 stars - overall good. Tasty and will try again, but would not go out of my way for it.
Three Cheese Grilled Cheese - 5 stars - more than just a grilled cheese. There are a lot of tasty things in there.
Pomegranate Citrus Kale - 5 stars - kill in general makes me sad. Those who are willing to try it said it was refreshing.
The overall four stars are due to be repeatedly disappointing tri tip sandwich and that they are asking me to spend almost $5 on fries
The food is always good. We've had the burgers, sandwiches, and salads on many occasions. Shakes and fries aren't great, so they're not worth the price tag that comes with them.
A couple of my favorites are the wild rice & kale salad and the trip tip sandwich Cali style, not cheap, but really good.
The service is always pretty subpar. The food doesn't come fast, the employees seldom have a good or even serviceable energy about them.
Literally the first thing I said when I took my first bite was “Wow, that’s some great flavor!” This is one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. The fries were also really good, and a great portion size for the price. The interior was very clean and open and the staff were very inviting and prompt. Definitely will be coming back here!
I got the DragonSlayer burger and the Buffalo Bleu fries.
My office really enjoys getting food from Cubby‘s because of the steak salads. I tried to torta this time and it was pretty flavorful but very small. Overall the food quality is high and definitely worth trying. Ordering the food online is kind of a pain, I would probably order them more for lunch if they had a more user-friendly experience or app to use. I really like the fries that they have there and will definitely order those again. My favorite sandwich at this point is the dragonslayer.
7 out of 10 fries. Crispy and the rosemary flavor was very unique. Could be salted more but they brought it out very fast. Portion size was perfect. The fries are thin so not too filling in the best way.
We had the sweet potato fries, the rosemary fries and the cockadoodledoo. It was very well seasoned, buttery bread, nice balance with aioli and spring mix. We didn’t love the rosemary fries, but that may have just been our taste. Too much rosemary, not enough salt and they weren’t as crisp as the sweet potato fries.
Really, yummy food, great customer service, clean, unique atmosphere. The only downfall is the price, really pricey! It was about $20 per person.
Absolutely great place to eat. Casual and fun. The ordering process was fast. There variety of food choices was fantastic. I loved the Mr. Beef, and my wife loved the Houdini burger. The salads are great. The only negative was that the rosemary fries are not very rosemary-y. But set that aside and Cubby's is just tremendous. Loved it!
Thank you for your assistance with our big order! Appreciate your understanding throughout the ordering process as well as the nut allergy mix up!! The group enjoyed their food. It was phenomenal.
We were recommended to try Cubby's for lunch, in particular the Tri-Tip Steak Salad. It was PACKED when we arrived on a Saturday afternoon. The line took maybe 15-20mins to get to the front, but at least their menu is on the wall by the line so you can decide before you get up there.
The cashier said they enjoyed their tomato soup, so I ordered that and the Tri-Tip Salad. My bf ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad, both with an extra, free side of dressing (you're charged after the first side for each salad).
The flavor of the soup was good, although I wish it had more chunk to it. It was just a little boring. I'd have to say the same for the salads -- the dressings look great when described on paper, but the flavor was watery and bland. The salads were skimpy -- definitely could have given us more lettuce, especially for the prices they charge for their full sizes! The steak and chicken were tender enough. Nothing extraordinary.
Even if you're eating in, they bring all the food in disposable containers. I'm guessing they're doing this because of COVID, but I am not a fan of the waste at all.
Cubby's is great, even if a little pricey. The tri-tip steak sandwich, sweet and spicy, and bacon blue, is a top five sandwich for me. Add some buffalo bleu cheese fries and you have a great meal. They also have Apple Beer on tap.
Cubby's is good. Everything is tasty...I just feel like it is a little pricey for what you get. The mac and cheese portions are small and the kids meals are like toddler meals. The food is definitely high quality and thoughtfully constructed, I just hate paying $9 for a casual dining burger that doesn't even come with a side.
