A friend highly recommended this restaurant at the farmers market. We arrived a little after noon on a Saturday and there was a line about 10 deep outside the door. The line did more fairly quickly as we were seated in about 15 minutes. Our server came in a reasonable amount of time given how busy they were and informed us that lunch items may come out quicker than breakfast which was quoted about a 45 minute cook time. The hubby had his heart set on Granny Cone’s Sampler so we ordered that and a homemade chicken salad over salad. The biscuits and hush puppies came first followed by our meals in about 30 minutes. The biscuits were moist but a little chewier than others I’ve had elsewhere and since I’m not a huge fan of hush puppies, I’d say they were my least favorite. The chicken salad was excellent and the hubby enjoyed his sampler with the exception of the sausage gravy, which we both didn’t care for. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was great with a few small preference exceptions, atmosphere was jovial and the value was good. We would recommend this stop!

A fun review here! I didn’t have time for cute photos because the food is so good! We used to come here a lot when I was a kid. This is my first time coming back as an adult. The biscuit was so good. The molasses on the biscuit = perfection. The omelette was hot and stuffed with veggies! The omelette wasn’t dry. Grits, amazinggg! Not too runny and not too thick. Someone walked by to ask me how I was doing. So kind! Great service.

This place is super popular — it’s always busy, especially on weekends. 🚨Be warned that it can take a while to be seated and served for a weekend breakfast or brunch. So don’t be in a rush. The service is always top-notch and friendly, the epitome of Southern charm. 🍳 I love the atmosphere and down-home cooking. The biscuits are excellent. 🆓 A complimentary basket of biscuits is usually provided, so keep that in mind when your order. Portions are hearty so don’t be surprised if you can’t finish it all. 😋

This restaurant is a Raleigh institution and is always packed! Come early on the weekends (before 8:45) to get a table. They have indoor and outdoor seating and have been dealing with a large number of guests for years, so tables turnover quickly. I absolutely love the biscuits and the country ham. The grits and sausage gravy are also very good. The portions are large, so keep that in mind when ordering.

The state fair farmers market is a must do. This place has biscuits that are definitely from a Southern family recipe. The menu is your typical Bob Evans or silver diner selection. We when arrived there was only a few tables occupied with customers. However our food took so long, one would believe the place was packed. Our home fries and French fries were cold, and my BLT had 2 slices of bacon at best.. The environment is old farm and antique decor.

I honestly had no idea what to expect when planning to visit. I am so glad I decided to try it out without reading reviews or even checking out the menu beforehand. The food was very good! I can't think of anything I'd change about the food I ordered, other than it could've been hotter. They were BUSY! I believe that's a normal thing for them, especially on the weekends. We (party of 5) arrived at 11 am and was seated around 11:30. We ordered our drinks & food separately. The food was brought to our table a little after 12. (Sharing these details so you don't wait until you're hungry to head that way!) I rated my overall experience 4 stars because our waiter wasn't the friendliest or most welcoming.

When they say everything is caught, raised, grown, and made in NC at the state farmers market restaurant, they really mean it! Every meal I've had here is some of the best southern homestyle cooking I could ask for, and the line around the restaurant proves that for everyone else. While I wish it wouldn't always have such a long line, the service once your seated is generally fast and the servers are very nice. The food is fairly priced as well and usually they are generous with the portions.

The only downside we had for this place was the wait time to get seated due to the massive line. Otherwise, our experience was wonderful! Our waitress was very kind and welcoming; eating here felt more like I'd just stopped by a friends house for a meal with his family rather than going out to a restaurant. The biscuits came out within minutes of being seated; they were fluffy, light, and supremely delicious by themselves as well as with butter and jelly. Just be cautious not to stuff yourself before your entrees come! We ordered the fried chicken, barbecue chicken, and chicken fried steak to share between our group of 6. Between all of us, we could barely finish - to be fair, half the group aren't big eaters. Even still, the portions are pretty large. Each dish comes with two vegetable sides of your choosing, of which we got fried okra, fried green tomatoes, homestyle fries, and the potato salad. I'd recommend the tomatoes. For me personally, the food here was fantastic. The barbecue chicken was recommended to me by our waitress, and it hit the spot. The meat was pull-apart tender, and dissolved when pulled at with a fork; the smoky barbecue sauce paired with it to create a perfect combination of sweet and savory. However, I don’t have much impression of the other dishes, so I can’t speak for them. Overall, if you can find a time where it's not too busy, and can get seated fast, it's definitely worth dropping by. Even if there is a bit of a queue time, with a big group you can get a buzzer and just go look around the actual farmer's market while you wait. 5/27/23

Ate here many times for their awesome breakfast but decided to have lunch here recently. Wow! It was splendid and service was very personal and kind. Neither my wife nor I could finish our meals as portions were huge. Highly recommended Southern home cooking style food.

Food is so good! And you get alot of it! They give you a basket filled with yummy Biscuits and hushpuppies. The service was amazing. Friendly and fast. Our server Andrew was so friendly. We had a party of 8 on a Saturday. Only waited maybe 20min to be seated. They gave us a pager so we could enjoy the rocking chairs outside while we waited. They have seating inside and outside. Inside was very busy and outside was nice shaded and peaceful. I have gone during the week when it is not very busy and it is a very nice experience. Good southern cooking. Open until 3pm lots of breakfast and brunch options with some good sandwiches and burgers. Also have special for the day which included other meat and veggies options. Farm decor perfect for a visit to the farmers marker. Come hungry and prepare to leave full and satisfied. Even gave us free apple crisp for dessert. So tasty.
