Had dinner here on a Saturday and the place was busy but we were seated immediately. Service was great and the environment was clean modern and the lighting was perfect. The sushi was exceptional. We went with another couple and had one drink each , sushi, two appetizers for the table and two desserts for the table. Price was bit on the high end, but it was worth the food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely go again.

"Awesome" doesn't even began to describe it! Super fresh, unbelievably delicious, visually interesting, incredible variety - all apply to the offerings here! Hands down the best sushi in Raleigh, possibly even in the Triangle. We had Dragon Tuna, Mad Salmon, and Tempura Asparagus to share - all were unparalleled with anything we've ever had before. I don't have words to adequately describe how good it was. As far as atmosphere: very laidback, with a mix of techno/ jazz/ modern tunes on the sound system. Service was excellent, too!! Highly recommend to anyone who appreciates great sushi/sashimi/Asian.

My new favorite sushi restaurant, hands down! The garlic edamame was delicious and the unagi dragon and kamakazi rolls were delicious! Fresh fish and beautiful presentation.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Service and food were great. Only negative would be the beer selection.

I've eaten here for lunch 4 times, and every time has been a winner. The bento box lunches are really reasonable considering the care and quality presented. Really satisfying. Thew staff is always pleasant and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended. Note: if you have a group go early, seating is limited. Great 2 top windows seats also.

Mind blowing sushi! Literally the best I have ever had, and I have lived in Hawaii and eaten fish caught an hour earlier. I am truly ruined for all of their sushi restaurants and cannot wait to go back!!!

Literally the best sashimi I've had in my life. A bit expensive so will be reserved for special occasions, but totally worth it if you truly enjoy sushi

I came in on opening day with a couple of my foodie friends. We are all in the industry and Monday's are our days to enjoy good food, and we sure did! The atmosphere, quality of ingredients and attentiveness of staff was awesome. Great job my friends!!!

City Market Sushi came highly recommended & now I see why! Food & presentation were both amazing! Everyone enjoyed their rolls. House salad was simplistic perfection. Calamari was delicious. I will definitely dine here again!

I'm telling you, this is EASILY the best sushi in the triangle. Everything is incredibly fresh and delicious. The salmon poke bowl and the Alaskan roll are out of this world! My husband and I LOVE City Market Sushi and are here almost weekly (more often if we can!)

My husband and I ate here this evening for the second time. We've had a few apps and 7 different rolls so I feel like I can write a solid review. It's amazing. Hands down the best sushi in the Triangle. Beyond happy that downtown has a sushi spot this amazing. Even though they don't have BOGO prices are reasonable. Atmosphere and service is on point as well. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Some of the best sushi I've had since moving to Raleigh. Some pretty unique rolls, not your typical sushi. Everything was good and the fish was really high quality. Bit on the pricey side but well worth it.

We made a early reservation with our two boys and was able to get right in! The edamame was delicious, best I’ve ever had! The tempura calamari was good too, as well as the tempura shrimp! Our sushi was great, fresh fish and great price! Our 7 year old loved the rolls even! Clean atmosphere and wonderful service! Fantastic last meal for our older son headed off to boot camp! Per his request!

Hands down the best sushi I’ve had in the area, or honestly ever! It was so fresh and the ingredients were unique. Got a bottle of cab, truffle salmon app, seaweed salad, miso soup, ultimate rainbow, and spicy himachi rolls — for just over $100. All awesome, great service. Will be coming back for sure!!!

Best sushi place I have found yet, great atmosphere, reasonable pricing and amazing quality! This is my favorite sushi place hands down! Only thing I will warn is either go early or call before hand and get a reservation! This place has limited number of seats and they fill up fast! But oh so worth it!

Hands down our favorite sushi in Raleigh. Always fresh. 5 year update...still the best in town. They keep the menu tight and focused and the fish fresh. One thing I really love is the way they cut their fish for nigiri - it's generous, but sliced thinly and encloses the rice. You get maximum flavor, a great combination of textures and not just a big hunk of fish.

Upon being in downtown on a Saturday. We wanted to go to a quiet restaurant and were interested in sushi. Tucked away in City Market, we came here. They gave a decent selection of unique rolls. A little too much tempura options for a sushi spot. They have a small amount of seating inside and tend to require reservations. I would not say the best sushi in Raleigh, but it is quite good. I’d come back here.

Had a really nice dinner here! The sushi wasn’t the best I’ve had but was still very fresh and tasty. The roll selection was solid and varied. Prices were all very reasonable and the ambiance was great!

Was Downton Raleigh for a meeting at the City Club and was in the mood for sushi... been to a few in the area but havent been to city market sushi.. so decided to give it a try .. and definitely glad I did. City Market Sushi has a cool dark cozy intimate vibe to it and not like a typical sushi restaurant so that was good ... Menu is smaller than other places which isnt bad .. So to start dinner off I ordered garlic edamame roasted in a garlic soy with garlic chips.. comes out delicious and warm.. right amount of saltiness and a lil heat but not much .. very good started and one of the best edamame dishes I've had. Next up was the Mad salmon which is a spicy tuna, avocado wrapped in soy paper... with spicy salmon, wasabi aioli, jalapeno on top. Very delicious and refreshing .. Next up was the kamikaze.. it was tuna, salmon, crab, avocado rolled and tempura fried topped with sriracha aioli, tobiko, eel sauce. Wasnt bad but wasnt the best version I have had .. the tempura almost gave it a toast taste .. The ultimate rainbow  which has snow crab, avocado, cucumber wrapped in soy paper and each portion was topped with either tuna, salmon, yellowtail, red snapper, scallop, or shrimp, and topped with wasabi yuzu.. probably my favorite roll out of the 3 options I had .. the best part was that since each portion was topped with a different seafood .. it made it feel like 6 different types of sushi .. definitely would order this again . To finish it off was the green tea crème brûlée.. this was a perfect dessert.. not to sweet with subtle green tea taste and the creaminess of the creme and the crunch of the brulee top. So bonus points for City Market Sushi because they use real fresh wasabi unlike other places which uses the powdered paste in a tube.. you can definitely tell the difference.. So definitely would recommend this place for a nice cozy place for sushi .

I haven't been to city market sushi since prior to the pandemic and I must say the quality of the food is just as amazing as before. This place makes consistently fantastic sushi that is aesthetically pleasing and tastes phenomenal. Our server was wonderful she was able to help me pick out different japanese beer. I had a fantastic plum beer that was sour and sweet. The soft shell crab sliders was an awesome twist to a normal slider with great crunch and unique flavours. The edamame is a good take on a traditional dish, but I would like the option to have it as traditionally served with large grain sea salt. Wonderful place, great drinks, amazing atmosphere, fantastic sushi!
