Mitch's is awesome. They do not have a deep fryer, but that is OK. I recommend the London Broil, Redolfo's Feast, and the gaspatcho. Also there are beer specials and great people.

Still my favorite place for drinks in Raleigh and one of my favorites for great tavern food. It's got history, a good look, and it usually has a decent crowd without being packed or deafeningly loud.

Food was great and the ambiance as well. Feels like Cheers with that little “extra”.

The wife and I chose to stop in before leaving Raleigh yesterday to give it a shot after remembering it was used in the movie Bull Durham back in the 80's. The food we ordered was great and the prices were extremely reasonable for the proportions we were served. Had a great time talking to the waitress about the movie when it was filmed there and she even walked me around real quick to show the red table (they have a few that can be moved around so it's not set up as the same since the movie) that Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon sat at. As far as parking goes I would look up Public Parking on GPS or ask a local so you don't have to deal with street parking. We both can't wait to come back in the future and maybe make it a complete experience if we are attending a Durham Bulls game

Mitch's Tavern. Where the drinks are cheap, and the stairs are steep!

It's all about expectations, and Mitch's meets all the expectations it sets. Sweet potato is filling and great. Chili, chili, chili; they have multiple kinds. Great ambiance, Wonderful location. Fun place to grab a beer and catch a game. The gazpacho in the summer is great as well. A staple, and a must visit. It's the kind of place you build a relationship with, complete with all the blips and bumps of life. Mitch's has character, and when I see Mitch himself at the farmer's market picking out cantaloupe, I am both proud that he is supporting North Carolina farmers and amazed that the owner maintains such strong and critical involvement (quality cantaloupe selection is vital!). Plus I enjoy observing him with his 'older guy' crew at Global village philosophizing in the early morning. A bunch of guys with who-knows-what kind of life stories, sitting around in baseball caps and talking about....?? I want in on that table, just once. I once grabbed a late lunch during that in-between lull that occur's mid afternoon, and I overheard Mitch listening to some young guys pitch a much-needed improvement to his website.....or something like that. Either way, whatever new-fangled idea they were selling just didn't seem to fly with him, and I'm pretty sure he stuck to his guns, judging by the general early 90s feel to their website. But that which is sometimes annoying in folks (general distrust of the new, stubborn resistance to change), is charming in Mitch and the wonderfully flawed and therefore perfectly fine Mitch's Tavern. You just gotta love Mitch's.

I really liked the atmosphere here. Luckily they had a pool table which really made the night. I didn't order any food but I'm sure it's good. There is a nice flight of stairs to climb as well.

Yup, this place is amazing! I’m soo happy they reopened. It still has that original old school feel and the old school booths. I had the hoagie with a salad and my husband had the double dogs. The bartenders were super friendly and gave great service. Loved the music too!

We haven't been to Mitch's since pre-COVID. And actually we avoid this area when NCSU classes are in. But it was great to be back. The place is so cozie in the winter and the food is great. Today NC State was playing a bowl game so there were a lot of tables there to watch the game. It was a fun atmosphere. If you haven't been, you should go once just for the fun of it... I am sure you will be back.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. The Reuben, Pretzel Bites and Gumbo were amazing. Spend 50 cents more and get the cheese with the pretzel bites. Harmony was great and attentive. Highly recommend!

Went with friends after the NC State game. My friend and I split a delicious steak and cheese sandwich with fries and some gumbo! We sat at the bar and had a great view of everything going on! The staff is ON it! I highly recommend Mitch's Tavern.

Wow. This place is something out of a magical story book. It is like seeing periods of time all in one place. It has a amazing atmosphere and the food is not your everyday average run of the mill menu food. Everything has had rime and thought put into it. The food was amazing and different. I was in a weird mood when I went here. I wasn’t wanting any type of fast food. But this was good home cooked food fast and friendly. We had the fried green tomato worth pimiento cheese sandwich and a London broil sandwich. They both were great. The bread was a almost sour dough roll with home made sauces not just mayonnaise slapped on. And to look around this place you can see the years like layers of a onion. I will be back and if for nothing more just to say you seen it with your own eyes once is worth the trip.

It was my 1st game and i just loved it. For each board you have to pay 1$. The environment was good and vibrant. They have both male and female restroom.

So glad I popped in here for a quick drink while exploring Raleigh. Quick service, affordable drinks, and historic NC decor that made me laugh. Love this college dive bar, would definitely come back!

Mitch’s Tavern has reopened!! I’ve lived in Raleigh for over 30 years and call Mitch’s my home away from home. A cool joint for sure. So glad it has reopened! Great sandwich’s: my friend and I had the Cuban sandwich with chips and the chili. Amazing! The service was spot on. Bartenders and waitstaff were ready to please, friendly and it is good to see a hands on GM, JD. Thank you JD, Chelsea, Zack, Clay, Harmony and the crew!

Exactly the same as it was before! Menu is limited, but still delicious. I have to give 4 stars only because the herbed mayonnaise is definitely a different recipe which made me sad. Overall stoked they are open again!

Mitch's Tavern is another all-time great of the Raleigh food scene-- and THANK GOD they opened back up! Mitch's is a lasting relic of Hillsborough Street before it transformed into what it is today. This is the kind of place your dad went back in the '80s to watch Jimmy V win the championship. They are located in the second floor of the Hillsborough Street buildings and they have beautiful balcony windows overlooking campus. They also have some great, quirky NC State memorabilia hanging around the restaurant. I recommend the Cuban sandwich (believe it or not) and Ive also heard great things about the Chili and the Reuben. I would like to personally thank the management at Mitch's for kindly buying my family and I a round of beer after we only waited a short while for our food. Cant wait to come back!

My favorite place in Raleigh and my weekly tradition. Wonderfully prepared fresh/local food with prices that haven't changed since the 80s. Chilli, salads, stews, sandwiches...so delicious! Great service! Tip them well, they deserve the business.

Really great prices ! By the time , I decided to take photos , food was already dug into . The chef salad with chicken salad on top was soo good . Two people can share it ! The corned beef and cheese sandwich was so tasty . You will get two halves , one not pictured is in my stomach ! It had a old english type atmosphere and is upstairs . It did not have a kids menu , nor did I expect it to . We shared the salad and sandwiches with our 6 year old daughter . We visited Mitch's about 6:00 in the evening on a Wednesday night . The bar was gorgeous and they had great drink specials. I dont think they had anything on the menu that was over 10 bucks . Rare gem downtown !

Sorry I didn't take pictures with my phone today. My mother used to go to Mitch's Tavern when she was younger with her friends. My sister and her husband live close by it a go about 3 times a week. The food was great. Beer ice cold and an atmosphere that takes you back. The movie Bull Durham had scenes with Kevin Costner videotaped inside Mitch's and we sat under Crash Davis Jersey and newspaper article. Staff were great and 10 of us ate and drank for $175 plus we left a 20 percent tip. Not bad and mom really enjoyed it. I'll get them to send me a picture. Mom sent me a picture. I love her so much , but she took the picture. My 2 young girls me and my wife are at opposite heads of the table. My 2 beautiful nieces, sister, brother in law, and Pop are in this one.

Beautiful inside. Bartenders are friendly but a little frazzled when I was inside. To be fair it was busy but not packed. Drinks were okay, didn’t eat. I’m not going out of my way to come back but if I’m walking past again…
