If in Redding, TRUST, excellent place for Sushi! This place deserves more than a five star!! I highly recommend POKE, Erica and a must TAMAGO!!
Haven't been here in 3 years and it's still my favorite flavor of sushi and kenji still remembered my name!
Great sushi and great service, will be back again to try more!!
Fabulous! Nothing fancy here, they rely on there exquisite sushi to do the talking.
The chirashi was excellent. The perfect thing after eating fast food all day.
Excellent sushi that stands on its own without having to dribble sauce all over it (take note other Redding sushi restaurants).
Best sushi in town. Nice ambiance. Don't be deterred by the building.
Best sushi in town! Hands down!
Having worked in Japan I am very picky when it comes to sushi. I avoid most of the raw fish offerings that you often find in places that add it to their menu of 30-50 items. In my opinion, grocery store sushi is a risky option. Even when the fish is good the rice is not authentic and often falls apart when you try to eat it. Good sushi takes experience and dedication.
Sakura is a little sketchy looking from the outside, tucked away in a nondescript, grey building. However, it houses the most authentic sushi restaurant in Redding. Open only three hours a day, Sakura is the kind of eclectic place that I always look for. When the customers have to adjust their schedule to the restaurant rather than the other way around you know that it's something special.
I went there for the first time with my eldest son who lived in Japan for quite a while and is married to a Japanese woman. He had been there before and both he and his wife gave it high praise. There are the usual, nontraditional rolls that has become ambiguous in the states. However, one can also find authentic rolls as well as the best Nigiri sushi that I have in a long time. We had Goyza for an appetizer, chose several menu items, had one beer each and placed a second order of our favorites. This variable feast only ran us about thirty dollars a piece before tip which is, in my opinion, a great value.
Our server was a true pro. She spent quite a bit of time with us and made me feel very welcomed. The excellently prepared food was delivered quickly with a smile. I will definitely be going back.
By far the best sushi in town. Will not go anywhere else. It can take a little time to get it but it's wayyyyy worth it. Hats off to the chef. The lady who runs the food is always very delightful as well. Highly recommend this fabulous place 😄
Easily the best sushi in town. Perfect prices and portions, the chef and waitress are always nice and welcoming. I love that they have authentic sushi, not sushi drowned in sauces and extra stuff.
The best sushi spot North of Sacramento. Very no nonsense, just straight up delicious sushi for a great price. It can take a little while, but it’s worth the wait as the sushi chef is very skilled and really cares about the quality.
Great food and Good pricing, not the best ambiance. Service was a little slow, but it was dinner, I think that's the only meal they serve.
Sakura is my favorite sushi. The sushi is always consistent and delicious. It’s a one man, one server operation. I recommend the Tuna Poke and Erica Roll. The prices are very reasonable. Hours are limited so it’s best to go early.
1st Time there last night. We went there because of the reviews. When we arrived the building was small and older. We walked in and the inside is smaller than expected but the service was good and food was delicious. We will definitely come back. You can taste the sushi was fresh and good quality. The tempura appetizer was cooked perfectly. Don't let the appearance of the building scare you. If you have a bigger group I would call the beautiful waitress ahead of time!!!!
