We initially went here just to grab some milk shakes, but I decided to get some chicken strips. We sat in the drive thru for about 25 minutes and there were a few cars in front of us. When we got up, to the window, our food and shakes were ready immediately. Not too big of a surprise since it was a small order. We drove home and I took a bite into one of the chicken strips and noticed the texture seemed off. I looked at it and it was completely raw inside. I immediately turned around and drove back. The girl who helped me out was really nice and refunded me. She said she is training 3 new people right now. I don’t have super high expectations for their food already, but cooked is the bare minimum. I know this is not the new peoples fault, but I did notice an “under new management” sight out front and it is their fault for not adequately training before putting this kids to work. Needless to say I will not be returning.

The worst place ever. Watched the so called cook use his phone three times. Each time putting in his pocket, handle my hamburger, take it out of pocket, checking his phone, pitting back in his pocket, etc. All while preparing my food. When I first pulled up, I told to hold for a "second". There was nobody in front of me in the drive through. It was 10 pm at night on a Saturday after working a 13 hour day. When he finally got back to me well over a couple minutes, I ordered, pulled up, and could see the dive through attendant was still talking and saying goodbye with a finger sign of some sort. Like it was his home boy. Had no concern about his station. After a minute, waiting to pay he came, I paid. Then soon after, that's when I noticed the improper handling of my food. When the drive through guy came back. I told them, "hey guy has been touching his then my food several times; cancel my order. He got what was called the manager. She came, must of heard me already, and said; "he only touched hod phone twice". O my, no wonder this store is so bad. She started to mouth off then dropped the F BOMB, SAID YOU BETTER BE NICE OR I WILL NOT REFUND YOUR MONEY. I SAID WHAT, WHO THE HELL YOU THINK YOU ARE. A lot was said between her and I. Then I called the store manager the next day. He was to busy to discuss the problem. This store is pathetic from too of management down. DO NOT GO THERE!

First time trying it and to be honest it was just alright. There are better burgers out there. Happy u was at least able to try it when many people kept telling me how great it was. Felt overrated. Dont see myself eating here again.

This location does a good job. We enjoy the happy hours, I think are 1pm-4pm. Im not sure, but the shakes are half off so kids love it. Employees are nice. Food tastes pretty good.

They're really understaffed at this location. It took 40 minutes to get our food, and we only ordered 2 meals. The customer service could have been so much better, if it was better it would have made the 40 minute wait ok. Food was pretty good.

Been awhile since I had been there. Totally forgot how good the food is there. Can't eat inside yet, looks like it's getting remodeled but the drive thru was open. Great service and great food. Glad I went there. Recommend this place if you like a fresh burger and fries.

Me personally, I would never sit in a line at a burger joint for 30 min just to order, but we did, then it took them another 15 min just to get our order, and it was wrong. Not a place that I will go to again. Slow service, no indoor dining yet and the food was even cold. Go figure.

Quality has gone down and the removal of menu items like the jalapeño burger is extremely unfortunate and keeps me from coming back. Shakes are still very good but the drive thru service needs a boost it takes too long to get what's ordered.

My husband and I ate here yesterday for the first time (Lemmon Valley location). We were on our way to Animal Ark and stopped for dinner. I had the mushroom and swiss burger, my husband had the Cajun burger and a side by side milkshake (chocolate and strawberry). We also ordered a side of onion rings. The burgers were smaller than I expected, but we definitely had enough food. My burger was good, I especially liked the garlic mayonnaise. It had Portobello mushrooms instead of white mushrooms, and while tasty, I think I prefer white mushrooms. I really like Red Robin's mushroom and swiss burger, but this is an acceptable alternative. My husband liked his burger and remarked that the bun also had Cajun seasoning on it. The fries were good...super skinny and crispy...and seemed fresh. The onion rings were very tasty and fresh
though the breading was different (more "smooth") than I am used to (I was expecting the type of breading Burger King uses). My husband loved his milkshake (side by side means the two flavors are separated in the glass, but you can mix them if you want). I tasted it and it was very good....good size, rich, creamy, tasty and topped with quite a bit of whipped cream and what appeared to be a frozen maraschino cherry on top.
The service was good. We were seated promptly, and a waitress came quickly to take our order. The food was delivered quickly and was nice and warm. Our waitress checked on us, but I would have liked a drink refill. She came while I still had soda left, but never returned once I finished my drink although we sat at the table for awhile after finishing our meal. I don't hold that against her though. We were able to pay our bill promptly and get on to the rest of our evening plans with no issues. The restaurant is comfortable, clean, and has a 50's diner feel (cross between In N Out Burger and Johnny Rocket's). They also play music from the 50's and 60's which I enjoyed. Would I drive to Lemmon Valley (I live in Spanish Springs) for this restaurant? Probably not unless I was craving their milkshakes (they have a wide range of flavors and combos), but if I were in Lemmon Valley, I'd eat there again.

Was seated timely. Order was taken. One shake delivered and the other not. Asked 3 or 4 times for second shake but nothing. Staff had plenty of time to chit chat in Spanish amongst themselves while we waited. Order was brought out and half right. Tried to correct the error but to no avail as the staff just talked and giggled in Spanish the whole time with each other. Still waiting for the second shake after third request. Plus food order was wrong when finally delivered. What once was a great burger and shake joint and now it is a workplace for inexperienced Hispanic staff. Sad! Teach staff to speak English and give good service otherwise you have lost good customers.

I used to love steak and shake. I only come there for the chili bowl with spaghetti. However, the south Reno location has ruined this place for me. 15-40 minute wait in the drive thru always and it doesn't even matter how many cars or what time of day. And this location has literally always messed up what I wanted every time I've been here. Maybe if I'm out in stead I'll visit again. But I'm so done with south meadows.

Stopped there for a shake on a hot drive back to Carson City. The service at the drive through was good but the shakes had so many large chucks ice they were undrinkable. I would not recommend it.

South Reno location-We came here for breakfast Sunday morning about 10am.... no one in the parking lot. As we were there the place filled up! Service was great, food fantastic, coffee excellent!

Quality beef, fresh tasty buns, gooey cheese, and fresh additives like mushrooms, jalapeños, etc. Excellent skinny French fries. And so many great shakes to choose from. Wish I'd tried this place a long time ago!

Went back to try it again since I was told it was under new ownership and that the new owner has said their main priority is fixing the issues that they have.
Guess what absolutely nothing has changed!
The "hostess" (I use that very loosely) rudely asked how many in our party. Walked us to a table and literally threw the menus on the table turned and walked away.
The server was nice at the beginning. She took our order and the food came quickly and was correct. However, the kids meals have gotten much smaller. Barely any mac and cheese in the bowl. When our food arrived I asked for a refill of water I was told no problem. Kept eating my food and couldn't find my server or any other for at least 5 minutes. When our server finally did come back I asked again for the refill of water. Needless to say I never did get the refill of water. When I went to the counter to pay I stood there for about 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. When asked how everything was I said not good and that was it no questions asked about what happened. After paying I stood at the counter waiting to talk to someone in charge. After waiting far too long I gave up when not a single employee cared that I was there. It isn't as if they were busy either. When I arrived there were maybe 3 other tables in use and by the time I left it was about the same number of tables in use.
As I can see that the management both local and corporate do not respond to any of the reviews I know as for the company this will be falling on deaf ears, however, if it opens the eyes of anyone thinking about eating there it is helpful.
I really was hopeful that the new management/ownership would fix the problems.

This place has the worst service ever. On Thursday night, we waited in the drive through for 30 minutes with only 4 cars ahead of us. When we got our food, it was cold. On top of that the guy at the window copped an attitude. Don't waste your time. Head to in and out!!

Rude staff.. We waited 30 min for our drinks.. We were served our food almost 45 min later with not silverware then came to find hair in my food and they forgot half of our order . completely messed up my sons birthday breakfast ..

Service was fine, but the burgers are not what I expected. Ordered a double garlic burger and got back a cheeseburger with out lettuce, onion, tomatoes and without out condiments with garlic powder sprinkled on top. It was tasty, but a pretty pathetic excuse for a hamburger. Will not go back.

If I could leave no stars I would. Worst services of my life. I drove all the way from south reno off double r to eat there and they acuse us of having a fake bill. the fat boss yells in my face and the little 12 year old at the register says there's no line in my bill so I point it out to her and the main manager comes over and says Oh well its fake and trys to keep it. So 15 mins later still waiting in the drive through! The head manager finally comes to the window yelling is there a problem? I say yes I want my money back so I can leave this fucked up place. He checks the bill and it's fine yet they still don't want to give back the money. I finally get it back and tell him how far I drove and I don't get a sorry for anything. Just a remark. Well it looked a little darker. I mean really? I will never go there again.
I for one think we should have got our food for free. Worst service ever

I'm from central Illinois originally. I've eaten in the very first Steak and Shake and so many others that I can't count. The food in every one has been fantastic. If there is a problem, politely tell them and it will be fixed. The store in Reno has removed the signage about firearms not being permitted. I'd like anyone to find the quality and price for a similar meal that doesn't come in paper wrappers and you need to order it and pick it up at the next window.
I guess I've been extremely fortunate and never had a bad meal at Steak and Shake. Doesn't seem really likely that it's been luck for the past 45 years.

I hadn't been to the north Reno location in a while (moved out of area and service wasn't great so no reason to go back) however, yesterday's experience was great! Great service, hot food and good shakes! Happy to have them around the corner again!

We have never had a real bad meal or bad service. I think the quality of food isn't the highest but we know that when we eat there. Breakfast is usually under $20 where it is $30 or more elsewhere.
