This was our first visit and I can say without hesitation that this will be in my top ten restaurants in Richmond! Everything, absolutely everything was perfect. Our waitress was wonderful. She was informative about the menu and specials and very friendly and attentive. The food was nothing short of elegant! We ordered a garden salad which was a work of art. Almost too pretty to eat...almost. I ate a filet mignon with crab meat. Asparagus and mashed potatoes were attractively placed on the plate. I wasn’t going to get dessert but changed my mind and had lemon chess. The prices were a little high but was worth it (although I didn’t pay this time!). Great place for anniversaries, birthdays or special night out. No spoon bread but still incredibly wonderful.
Dined on 8-4. Best crab cakes that I
Dined on 8-4. The crab cakes were the best I have ever had. Customer service was excellent!
Customer service was excellent!
I’m a word- AH-MAZ-ING! I’m a foodie and love RVA restaurants but hadn’t been here. James waited on us upstairs and he was fantastic. His suggestions for appetizer, drinks, entree and dessert were spot on. Sea bass was so good. I may be dreaming about it! Lobster pop tart-yum! All the staff were so efficient. Manager came by and chatted with us too. Great date night spot. We will be back!
Went to Spoonbread to celebrate a birthday - atmosphere, staff, food, drinks were all fantastic. They even gave the birthday boy a dessert of his choosing for free. Worth the drive from Fredericksburg for sure!
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. As a fellow restauranteur I highly recommend Spoonbread Bistro.
The crab cakes were the best ever. No bread, only pure crab meat with an excellent sauce.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had in RVA!!! Unique specialty cocktails, perfectly prepared appetizers and entrees with beautiful presentation and sinfully delicious deserts.
I will definitely recommend this restaurant to all my friends!
It was a great dining experience with a true southern flair ( Sally Lunn bread)! They even wiped the crumbs from my table which you do not find in many restaurants and made sure I had clean utensils for the next course.
I really love this place! The food was simply divine! Lovely internal design and atmosphere. Food was flavored to perfection.
I had the pleasure of dining there for my sister's birthday dinner. There were four of us. Each of us ordered a different entree. Each entree was so delicious, we were not even able to articulate just how good our meals were. The device was great! The salads and soup were wonderful. And the desert was amazing! We will definitely return!
Nicholas was our waiter..awesome
The food was delicious,
A nice place to relax and eat
First time here. Reservations are highly recommended. There is no where to stand or sit inside the restaurant to wait on a table. There is a bench out front but the day we went it was windy. Great food service was a little slow but still great. We ordered chicken & waffles lump crab cake on fried green tomatoes. Spoon bread of course fruit & potatoes. So delicious! We will be back to try the full menu because we only tried brunch.
2018-09-14 these people are really nice and really good at what they do! Called, left voicemail with my reservation, called at 3pm and someone answered the phone, answered my questions about parking and then I scheduled reservation. Upon arrival at 5pm, there was no one else, we were seated and Paul our server took our order and was an excellent server, he told us the specials for the day, answered questions about the menu and gave recommendations as well. The yeast rolls and honey butter were so good! The cucumber water was unique and the mock tails (nonalcoholic) tasted so good. The Caesar salad and scallops with Caramel corn pudding were excellent! The rockfish and lobster entree was excellent too. We asked for our desert to go and were impressed with the packaging and when we got home, the waffle strawberry shortcake tasted so good. Ordered the chocolate cherry tort, hope to eat it soon.
2019-04-20 called to schedule reservation, had to call back several times to postpone later in the evening and they reserved the table that I requested for an hour (thank you!), the server was nice attentive and got us in and out as fast as he could even though it started to get busy after we arrived, the oysters were excellent, the special (salmon) and chicken entree was good and the spoonbread and yeast rolls were good as always!
The synergy of Southern food and French finishings is hard to find elsewhere. The chef is very well noted for his techniques and innovations. Goes for fine dining in a casual environment. Great menu of meat and seafood dishes. Also hosts outstanding wine dinners and private events.
I had the lobster pop tart which is so delicious and succulent. I also had the salad and the duck. But before you have the pleasure of eating, you will be met by the most pleasant face introduced as the staff. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the food here.
I'm the bus driver 44. I drove Rolfe Middle School summer program lead by Ms. Sharne'. The students were being taught etiquette by Ms. Thomas. The special meal they prepared for students was delicious. I would want that on the menu if I revisit.
A little slice of Heaven in RVA! My husband and I went here for dinner on New Years Eve and were blown away! Along with the beautiful atmosphere the service and food were out of this world! Everything from start to finish was just amazing and I would highly recommend everyone try this place!
Came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch and had an excellent experience. Sever was very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodating to my guest questions. Will definitely return for dinner to experience the full menu.
The food was absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful; from the complimentary valet parking staff, matredee, to the wait staff. I will definitely be returning for brunch.
Delicious! The bartender made the most delicious French 75 and Kevin was an attentive server. I ordered the special of the day which was a seafood skillet with lobster, scallops, shrimp and crab with a side of mashed potatoes and roasted Brussels sprouts. It was the perfect serving size and everything was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped pork chop. He enjoyed it but said it wasn’t spectacular. However he raved about the bread pudding. It’s amazing. I also enjoyed the chocolate cherry ganache I ordered.
Stephen I think the waiters name was, was great! Good food!!
I've been here a few times and really enjoyed the food each time. The first time I went I was with a bunch of friends and we shared a bunch of appetizers. There was a pasta dish on the menu that was delicious and the scallops were so buttery good. Everything I tried I loved (minus the Foie Gra, but that's because I personally do not ever like the dish but my friends pushed me to try it because they liked it). Parking has been easy enough to obtain for me. Definitely worth a visit.
We had a reservation for mothers day brunch, and it was such a good experience. We were seated on time, and the table had a beautiful orchid on it that my wife could take home. The prices were reasonable, with 5 dollar mimosas and bloody Mary's. The bloody mary was well made. The entrees ranged from $10 to $17 dollars. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. I had the cock madam, and the betchimal sauce was very good. The fried chicken waffles were good and filling. The service was great as well. It's not the first time we've eaten here, and it won't be the last either!
It was really good! The food was great and the servers were fantastic. I am unsure they were well equipped to handle a larger group. The food came out very slowly. Over all, though I most certainly go back for brunch or dinner!
