Late night at the 3rd Street Diner. I was with my family in Richmond for spring break and it was after 9:30 when we arrived so we didn't really care what we ate for supper- just something. We saw the 3rd Street Diner and went in. Deserted. The two female employees who were there immediately acted surprised and somewhat frightened at our entrance. There was a very awkward moment as we waited to find out where to sit. Also, we were surprised at the rather inappropriate dress they were wearing. Very, very, very short clothes and also awkward for a family situation. Anyway, the food was actually pretty good. I believe we all got some short of cheeseburger. One of the TV's was only showing foods in shades of green. Watching pictures of green drinks, fries, cheeseburgers, salads, chocolate, and whatever was up there was not too appetizing. Besides some negative aspects, it was a fairly pleasant meal and I might consider going back if I were in the area and needing food fast.
Late night awesome and killer lunch buffet waitresses are really cool and prices are cheap and the food is good. I give it 5 stars I love it.
Asome Food. The food is excellent and great service
Good service. I ate dinner there on June 1st and it was very good. Been eating there since my college days. I had the Greek omelet and it was excellent. Never new the place had such a nice deck with a killer view of the city. But the one thing that keeps me coming back is the friendly service by the awesome waitresses it is one of the best places to eat in Richmond..
The food is great and the staff is a blast! Came in on a Sunday morning after running a marathon the day before and this place really topped me off!
A real diner!. Real food, real waitresses, best over-easy egg I've ever had . . . what you get is a real diner and not some plastic chain restaurant that calls itself that. This place is a treat for folks who want good food at a decent price, nice waitresses, and ambiance so thick you can cut it with a knife. In addition to the great food, the place is alive with spirits of the past (the restaurant housed a successful Civil War hospital) and good mojo of today. Leave your stuck up nose at home and enjoy a really nice place for a meal or snack.
Food is good, service is slow.. Same comment as the other reviewer: good food with unique choices ( spanakopita in a diner!) but service is slow. And I wouldn't want to piss the waitstaff off in there; they're pretty scary.
Food was good, the service was not. Very understaffed maybe it was a bad day. Would try again though.
This place is so super cute!! My sister and I went here for brunch and the food was great. The eggs were cooked perfectly almost fried in texture but they were scrambled I'm not sure but they were delicious. The pancakes and coffee were great. The service was awesome, our server was very nice and down to earth, she was patient with us since it was our first time there and she was very attentive. It does not look like much from the outside but it's worth the visit!
This dinner has decent food and the staff is warm and friendly. The pricing 8s mide than fair and being open 24 hours a day makes it nice for a late night snack.
First time eating at diner, everyone raves about not only the food but how friendly and kind the people who work there. Just had the fish sandwich was delicious. Beautiful people I side and out. The hostess was helpful and friendly. Met the chef who did a great job on my sandwich is so kind to meet and greet me that was a kind and humble gesture. Thank everyone. I really enjoyed not only the food but your hospitality.
Good fish and chips with the side of salad and fries... Salad and sauce was really nice. The fries were decent but not the best fries. Fish was nicely prepared and cooked nicely.
Historical place in Richmond..staff friendly, The management played us a harmonica song as we dined al fresco. Large tasty portions of food. Drinks were also good.
At 3am or 10am it's the same stuff. No frills, in your face breakfast with a decent cup of coffee. And the Bloody Mary is tasty! Chicago smoked sausage as well as they are always open. Means situation can be had at any hour! Menu from 12am-6am
Came for breakfast. I eat low carb and wish there were better side options like cottage cheese, but overall I'm happy. The bacon was tasty as was the coffee. Very friendly people, cool old building.
Fantastic meal! Huge side of fries, delicious coleslaw, and the pork chops were juicy on the inside and crispy on the out! Bartender was friendly, music was good, and my boyz playing on the TV.
Great food and service! Nice comfortable atmosphere.
After a 30 hour flight from Melbourne this was just the thing i wanted. A true American giant burger. Really got that culture vibe and the staff where really friendly and attentive. Thanks!
Good food and ok service hopefully they get over their current personnel problems great for breakfast except for dry toast.
Nice atmosphere. Great staff. Very accommodating. Laura was fantastic!!❤❤. Played reggae when I was there
Great place to stumble into for some good diner food late at night. Imagine a Denny's, Waffle House, or IHOP but with some really good food instead of national chain level food. Friendly servers and the few times I've been here everything was coming out in a reasonable time. Nothing is incredible, but it's all very good and I definitely plan on coming back.
Love this place. Fun, inviting atmosphere, laid back and you're treated with respect and spoken to like the girls have known each customer forever even if its their first visit! Great food! John Ball- Favorite cook, always has been. Glad to see Sam back, she's top notch customer service and lives to make her customers happy! Will def continue going!
