The food was very good. I was pleasantly surprised, as I had a bad experience at another restaurant. I ordered takeout chicken vindaloo with rice and naan, kheer rice pudding and rasmalai for dessert. Everything was good. I will return to this restaurant if I'm in the area again. The only side note about my experience is that I requested extra potatoes in the vindaloo and they put one inside of the food. If the food was not good, I would've thrown it out as I enjoy potatoes with my food.

Flavorful food, great service, beautiful interior. Love that the menu items include recommendations for spice levels and accompaniments. The biriyani was maybe the best I've ever had!!

On the way to Luray Caverns, VA from Rocky Mount, NC and decided to stop at this restaurant for dinner. I searched on google for Indian restaurants in Richmond, VA and found a couple of restaurants with good reviews. Picked this one for dinner. Reviews did not let me down for the taste of the food. Restaurant is located in a busy area. We were at the restaurant by 6:30 PM and it was almost full. Ambience was good, soft Indian music was playing, and a nice table arrangement. We ordered Chicken Curry (Indian hot) and Naan. Chicken Curry was really good and felt Indian hot. Naan size was also good, we couldn't go for another one. Chicken Curry was so good, we ordered the same dish with Rice. Price wise also not bad. You have to park your vehicle on the roadside or parking lot of the plaza next to it. Overall I was impressed with the restaurant.

Loved everything about it. I can't believe I never been here before. It was a hard toss up between the biryani & tandoori. I went for the salmon tandoori & it was scrumptious. Had the sampler of appetizers that was good too. Choose the roti bread which was decent, probably won't get that again but it was still good just not what I thought it would be. I was looking more for a dhalpuri so that was my fault. The host & sever was awesome too

I wanted to try something different and was recommended the chef’s specialty. It was so good. The portion was huge. Definitely enough to feed two people or one hungry person. The spices were popping and eating it was such an enjoyable experience. The drinks are also very good. The staff was attentive and kind. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.

The good was great. The customer service was stellar too. The food came out quick and it was fresh and hot. I got the butter chicken, medium spice, with rice and it was a home run. Perfectly seasoned, fresh cuts of chicken and white fluffy rice. I also loved the fresh cuts of crispy garlic on the naan. I was craving Indian food and this hit the spot. Will come back again.

Korma with goat was fantastically flavorful and tender. I appreciate that the entree and rice are served separately. Naan bread was beyond delicious. Clean and pleasant atmosphere, an excellent spot for a date or the whole family - Tulsi feels right for both.

The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Our only complaint is that we felt rushed. The server kept asking, at least three times even before we got our drinks if we were ready to order. We finally ordered after we ate our appetizer and when we did the food arrived within five minutes. It all happened so quickly. The wait staff should be able to assess if the customer is there to relax and have a nice leisurely meal. If it’s a couple and they are ordering drinks that might be their first clue.

Lamb Rogan Josh - tender meat and a distinctly spiced sauce. It definitely has Persian influence. If only there were saffron Staff is super attentive. Vertically spacious area, clean restroom, and nice smelling hand soap.

When we arrived we were asked if we had a reservation. I wasn't expecting that but nevertheless they were still able to accommodate us. The restaurant was about 80% full with guests and a few tables were not yet cleaned. The staff was very friendly. However, they seemed to be under staffed for the amount of guests at the time. The food was very delicious but it did take longer than expected to arrive (about 15 minutes after ordering) I believe everything thing was priced accordingly and overall I really enjoyed my evening here. I highly recommend and look forward to going back.

Amazing meal with a kind staff. I ordered lamb korma with medium heat. The dish was smooth and I could taste the different spices. This dish actually made me feel relaxed like a comfort food would. Loved it! will definitely visit again :)

I am vegan and my boyfriend is omnivore. Options for all tastes. This restaurant has the most delicious Indian food I have ever tried in my life. I bet you will be agreeing with me when you taste the deliciousness they put into the plates. Man name is Ali, He is the most welcoming host ever. We have been in this restaurant 3 times so far, we will definitely, will go back and I wanna try all the vegan options. I'm still sitting at the restaurant and thinking about what I will like to eat next time.

The food here is excellent! I have eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants in the PA area, but this place is the best I've ever had! The Chicken Pakora was a good appetizer to start with. The bite size peices are crispy and flavored well and goes well with the sauces they provided. The Lamb Rogan Josh is delicious! I had asked for hot and it was definitely a bit hotter than I expected. Almost considered getting Indian hot level, but I'm not sure I could have handled it. The Shrimp Konkani was amazing. Well seasoned and with hints of sweetness! Also got the bread basket with the selection of Poori, Sweet Kulcha, and Rosemary and Thyme Kulcha. Each one (even the Sweet Kulcha) complimented the Konkani and Rogan Josh quite well. 10/10, would dine again!

Tried Tulsi for the first time and it was soooo good. Ordered Paneer Masala and Aloo Ghobi via takeout and dang did it SLAP. Food was ready when they said it would be (15-20 mins from ordering over a phone)… Yeah I know…I called. Staff were super nice and welcoming. Extra stars for sustainability if you care about that sorta thing (which you know, you probably should): they didn’t use heaps of styrofoam, or any styrofoam really, they used plastic containers (that can be reused) and even containerized rice in an aluminum pan thingie which can be recycled.

Tulsi is one of my favorite places to visit for eatery. The ambiance, food quality, and customer care is consistently outstanding, exceeding my exceptions every time. We have tried Tandoori chicken, it was so tender and the sauce was really awesome. Garlic Naan was the best, mango Lassi was also exceptional and to top it all the customer service was very professional.

Good Indian food! My mom's cooking is my true favorite, so I'm picky, but I liked the food here 😊 Their garlic naan is some of the best in Richmond in my opinion. The Chaat Papri was nice and fresh. Spice level was good. I like mine to be a bit more crunchy/dry and less "wet" but I guess that's personal preference. The Butter Chicken was listed as their signature dish, and it was good, but didn't knock my socks off. I ended up enjoying the Chicken Vindaloo more. (I've never actually ordered Chicken Vindaloo before, but I was glad my boyfriend did!) But seriously, don't sleep on the garlic naan... It's a MUST. And a decent size. The ambiance and decor was nice. Service was good, very friendly staff. The next topic is always subjective -- but I gotta say my biggest downfall here was the classical background music. The pitchy vocals coupled with the slow rhythmic beat was sort of putting me to sleep while also giving me a headache. My bf tolerated it better than I did, but it kinda threw off the overall vibe. Ending on a high note (lol) it's overall a good restaurant and I recommend it! I prefer it more than Lemon, and the Carytown location is super convenient. The other Indian restaurants I like are all the way in Short Pump and West End. I'll be back to try some more dishes!
