Excellent food, it was quite a wait being mothers day and all, but it was worth it. The carna asada & pork ribs were to die for. their homemade tortilla's were so good. If you haven't tried it your missing out.

This is NOT a Mexican restaurant. I've read numerous reviews from people who come to Anchos with the misplaced expectation that it is. Anchos' menu is more regional, and draws from a number of southwestern cuisines including Sonoran/Mexican, New Mexican, and some Tex Mex. So although you may find an entree that is pretty close to something you'd find south of the border, other items have more generalized approaches to their preparation and presentation. The meats are mesquite grilled. You notice that the moment you get out of your car. Inside, you will encounter some of the friendliest service staff anywhere, all of whom are eager to go the extra mile to make sure you are well taken care of. It can get extremely busy at times, so the level of service you should expect might reasonably vary depending on workload. I think the steak based dishes are pretty much the stars of the meat show here, but to be honest I usually get grilled chicken. If I was more of a steak eater I would definitely prefer that. They also have a few grilled shrimp entrees that are outstanding if you're into that, or if salmon is more your thing, that's available too. Carnitas? They have that too. Ribs? Tex-Mex check. My favorite thing is just a humble pair of grilled chicken tacos. They present tacos in a very simple way - generous helping of mesquite grilled meat loaded onto house made flour tortillas, served with a side dish of garnish including guacamole, pico de gallo, and lettuce. There is salsa on the table at all times, and if you like yours with the heat turned way up like I do, ask for some habanero sauce to sprinkle on. Pretty much everything comes standard with a side of scratch made pinto beans and Spanish rice. The beans are another of my favorite things there. These beans are the stuff you would want to have as a meal with an iron skillet of fresh baked corn bread. Seriously good food. Like the tortillas? Those are in continuous production in the middle of the dining room and always within reach. They are amazing. I just slather a gob or two of butter on mine before the meal. Then I load them with the beans during the meal and go to town. They're there, and they taste better than a spoon, so.. My roommate brought me to Anchos on my first trip down to Riverside. He has been a loyal customer since they first opened, and I have been for the last 6 years or so I've been living here. Come hungry, or leave room in the fridge before you leave the house, because there is no such thing as Anchos Light, or "Under 500 Calorie" options. They do have some amazing salad entrees though, my favorite being the Caesar Al Carbon with mesquite grilled chicken. Again, the endless supply of house made tortillas comes in very handy here. Mini Caesar wraps, southwest style.

Love this place. Haven’t been in 25 years but we went recently and when we were seated they already had tortillas and chips and salsa at the table for us and two high chairs for our little ones. Amazing!!! And our server was awesome too. No wonder this place is still around. Keep it up and th and for the great service! I will be back before another 25 years passes by.

This has been our favorite restaurant for almost 20 years. Their chips and salsa are the best, can't get enough of their tortillas with their queso flameado. Great food, service and atmosphere!!

Wonderful food and great service despite a full house! It was the perfect place to celebrate our daughter’s graduation!

This is my most favorite Resturant ever! My family and I have been eating there for over 20 years. My kids have grown up there! They have the best tortillas ever!! Friendly, family oriented place where the Owber, Managers, Servers know your name, remember what you and the family order regularly. I even had one of the servers tell my son no, she would not bring him as many tacos as he was ordering one time because he never finishes what he orders and shouldn’t waste mom’s money! And he listened!! Lol! I love it! I always feel like I’m home visiting family and friends when I’m there!! Highly recommended!!
