What a great dream come true. I haven't missed too many meals since the opening and everything has been great. From the food to the excellent service. You don't wait long when you sit down till your plate is in front of you. Like I said excellent food and I can't forget to tell you Caroline makes the best Sweet Tea in N. Il. I'd go just to get a glass of her tea!!

What a wonderful idea, I volunteered for the first time last week and going back tonight. Great people, good food. What more could you ask for!
I had such a great time serving at The Kitchen Table!! The people in the back were fun to work with and the customers had great conversations!
What an awesome and amazing place!! LOVE everything about it! ...and the food was super yummy!
Wonderful food for a good cause! The volunteers make food every Tuesday and Thursday evening for anyone that is hungry and is in need of a nice warm meal. Recently, I got lemon chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, AND a slice of cinnamon cake and they told me that I could pay any price that I felt was necessary for the food. If you are feeling generous, you can pay extra for the meal and pay it forward. If you are strapped for cash, you can get your food for free. They believe that everyone is equal under their roof and that no one should go hungry as long as their building stands. Also, the food is not to be undermined. The meal felt like I was at my grandma's kitchen table all over again and had me wanting seconds! I will definitely return here again!
Our daughter and her afterschool group signed up to volunteer at The Kitchen Table which is a volunteer based pay what you can restaurant. My husband and I went to support the kids and boy it did not disappoint. There was plenty of parking in front of the building with easy access even if you have a disability.
They have limited hours with a set menu. On their website it says what they will have & when they are open. They are in the process of building on which will double the seating capacity.
There was a volunteer who took our order, then brought us our drinks and food. On the day we were there it was the first Sunday of the month so they had their brunch and it was all very good. The food was hot, fresh and the servings were plentiful. Since we were there for brunch you could pick a few things or you could order all of it. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
So this is a restaurant but not in the literal sense. I had googled restaurant and this showed up. We did not stay and eat. Because it was an anniversary dinner. This is a pay what you can community outreach. There is 1 meal a night. I applaud this place. And since we didn't stay to eat I made a donation.
All of this for a suggested donation of $5?! Family atmosphere. Bring your friends, or make a few new ones. Carolyn does an terrific job. Rochelle is lucky to have her ♥️
Great meal ! Prime rib was very tasty ...salad , twice baked potato , and cheesecake for desert were all perfectly proportioned and most satisfying ! Great job Carolyn and crew !
This is a community volunteer restaurant...they have excellent food and it is a donation-based place to eat!
Amazing place to eat and to volunteer! It's what helping hands is all about! Humanity brought to you by a couple who had a dream. A dream to help others less fortunate. We love the food...the atmosphere...the people working....and the people that dine there. And pay a little extra to pay it forward so somebody who is down on their luck can eat for free. People can also eat and then volunteer their time to pay for meal. Kudos to Carolyn, Grant, and everyone who helps to make this place successful! We will be repeat diners and hope to volunteer soon....
The staff that volunteers there and works there are very nice people and polite the food there is delicious God bless each and everyone of you and be safe
