Best Chinese food I've had in Oakland county! Very tasty and the chicken dishes are not breaded to the extreme like the 2 places on tienken and Rochester. For the price you can't beat the quality and flavor. They also have an authentic Cantonese menu! I reccomend this place to everyone in the area you won't be disappointed. 5 stars!
Ask for the Chinese menu and you'll never go back to American Chinese. This place is as authentic as any China town around. Kids love the dim sum
Cheng's - Chinese Gourmet Cuisine. This small Chinese restaurant is tucked into the corner of the Hawthorn Plaza in Rochester Hills. One of our friends had recommended this place to us because the food was excellent, and had heard that the new owner was the former Dim Sum chef from the Shangri-Ra Restaurant in West Bloomfield. Previously, Cheng's was your average neighborhood Chinese restaurant, but the new owners (re-opened on 11/26/11) introduced gourmet Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine.
Their small dining room with a maximum seating of 56; is clean, brightly lit and is decorated with your typical Chinese restaurant décor. While they have the same "Chinese" menu you'll see in all your family owned restaurants, they also have an "Authentic Chinese" menu consisting of Gourmet Cantonese and Szechuan dishes.
Since it was Chinese New Year, "Year of the Dragon", we had a group of 10 for an early dinner at Cheng's and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service great. Not only were the entrees excellent examples of true Cantonese and Szechuan dishes, the portions were large and well presented. For dinner we ordered Steamed Minced Pork and Salted Fish, Doubled Lobster Cantonese Style, Deep Friend Crispy Chicken, Deep Fried Squid with Spicy Salt, Peking Duck (3-courses), Deep-Fried To-Fu Stuffed with Shrimp Paste, Steamed Flounder, Egg Plant and Green Plant Stuffed with Shrimp Paste, and Beef with Pan Fried Noodles. Every dish was delicious and our dinner was topped off with Mango Pudding for dessert.
Whether you go to Cheng's for a holiday banquet, a nice dinner for two, or for their daily Dim Sum (afternoon tea); you'll not be disappointed. Great food, great service, and great value! That's Cheng's in Rochester Hills.
Holy Portion size Batman!. Lunch specials will blow you out of the water. Dinner is the same as lunch... only doubled in size. everything on the menu is great. But their Egg Rolls, with some soy, and plume sauce; there to DIE FOR.
Service sucks, but if you go there knowing the food is great, then its all good.
Pretty good Chinese in Rochester Hills, they even have hard to find silver needle noodles!!!
Can some say sweet and sour chicken?! I love chinese from here.
I think this is one of the better Chinese restaurants in my area. I consistently order from them. I love their double meat combo. Sometimes I just want a little bit of this & that. I usually get the shrimp egg foo young & pepper steak with shrimp fried rice. Today I added a bowl of wonton soup with chicken and veggies. Good broth not to salty filled up to the top. On a cold rainy day like today it was very enjoyable.
This is my new favorite spot! It's been really hard to find good Chinese/Cantonese food around here but this place is really amazing. I suggest coming early as they get really crowded and you could have a long wait! I'll definitely be coming back here!
The day my wife and me went to the place is packed with people and we have to wait for a long time for our foods to come. Overall the dim sum are very fresh and tasty
It’s the American Chinese food we all love. 16 days worth of sodium packed into a 3000 calorie lunch combo. Delicious.
Love that they have the option of two-combination plates. I always go for the stir-fry veggies and the Brocc. Beef.
The veggies here are better than the typical Chinese restaurants around.
