I absolutely loved this place. The decor, service, and OMG the food. I had the coconut crusted french toast with strawberry rhubarb filling and maple bourbon syrup. I very rarely eat all my food at a restaurant and I ate every bit. I highly recommend this place. Im also extremely picky about restaurants and service since my profession is based around a kitchen and customer service. So happy to have found this place and will check monthly to see the menue changes. :)

Getting down to the wire but #9 of 10 new restaurant challenge is the Brown Hound Downtown on University Ave. OMG ... why have I never tried this place before?!! VIBE : We came for Sunday brunch and it's a super cool bistro inside of the Memorial Art Gallery. Live acoustic music on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings made our experience even that much more awesome. FOOD: The menu is small but offers a fantastic selection of quality items. I tried the Cubano Waffle with hickory-smoked bacon & ham, Swiss, pickles, and a light dijon aioli served on top of a crispy waffle. Dipped in maple syrup this savory-sweet waffle combination is an absolute winner! Chris tried the Daily Special waffle which included boneless chicken wing pieces and creamy bleu cheese crumbles served with a side of maple syrup. The sweet waffle, tangy chicken, and creamy bleu cheese was not something you'd expect to come together as deliciously as it did. Totally FAB brunch choice! RJ had the Downtown All-American Burger which doesn't sound unique but they blend ground beef and pork which made this burger much tastier than just a regular cheeseburger. SERVICE: Casual yet very friendly, helpful, and pleasant. We will definitely come back to try dinner but this little bistro gets a 5 out of 5 in the Bistro category!

Brown Hound Downtown catered our holiday party for 75 people last night and did an incredible job - food was delicious, sophisticated but approachable, great mix of veg, gluten free, meat, seafood options and sweets! Service from Chef Paul was impeccable and warm, guests loved him! Highly recommend Trish and team for catering (and love the restaurant).

I had the eggs benedict and it was the best I've ever had. The potatoes and biscuit were also top notch. I highly recommend for brunch and am looking forward to trying them out for dinner.

Stayed in the area last evening, found your place on trip advisor. WOW , Food was amazing my compliments to the Chef, beef wellington melted in your mouth, scallops so fresh and went well with the black rice and chili sauce, duck salad for appetizer and very nice glass of wine. I only live an hour away and will definitely be making the trip back. Thank you. Annette

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner at the Brown Hound on 03/24/17 and they did an amazing job. The food was delicious and the service was great. My favorite was their asparagus soup and the peanut butter/chocolate cheesecake they made. Definitely will be back and highly recommend!

My family and I grabbed a quick brunch at Brown Hound. We were seated and greeted immediately which was great because we were so hungry. For drinks, we ordered mimosas and a mule. Both drinks were very refreshing and I also enjoyed that Brown Hound has 5 different mimosa options. For brunch, we ordered the the bird dog sandwich, spring bistro salad, chicken & waffles. OMG, the bird dog is a must try! The chicken was tender and very crispy, cooked to perfection! The chicken and waffles was also delicious! The salad with grilled chicken was flavorful as well and all of the dishes we ordered was very filling. I have to shoutout Webster for the amazing service and always checking in on us throughout brunch. If you are in Rochester, this is a must try for brunch!

While this restaurant is very difficult to find, it is well worth finding it! I parked outside the main entrance to the art gallery and walked in to the back right of the building to find this restaurant. While our server was a little clueless, he was very kind and quick to make any thing that happened funny or to make it right. We met the owner, who was incredibly generous, and actually blessed our table with free desserts. I loved the simple menu and everything we tried was phenomenal and made extremely well. Definitely will go back and try some other options as well.

This place is amazing. The food was great, the service excellent. I have had Web’s Loco Moco and loved it so much I ordered it again the last time I was there. My dining companion had the Chicken and Waffles and was equally impressed.

My wife surprised me with a trip here on a Sunday after church, & it was a delight! Very low-key vibe. Even had a lounge singer with a guitar & that was pleasant- but this FOOD was amazing! I had the wild mushroom tacos with grilled chicken & white cheddar added. So much flavor! Pickled red onions were such an awesome accompaniment! I also sampled their twice baked French toast thanks to my wife (who had a to-go box from the first time she went). I’m very impressed!

First time at this establishment & it was amazing! The staff was extremely attentive & very nice! The prices were good for the quality and amount. We ordered the party pack for the mimosas, the fritatta special, the Hound Dog Hash & the biscuits&gravy. Everything came out fresh and was delicious. The pork belly on the hash was cooked to perfection..the first bite I took I melted on the inside a little bit. They also had live music towards the end of our visit, so we were able to just vibe out & finish our mimosas. Would definitely recommend for a nice brunch with friends or a date day with a loved one 😊

Brown Hound takes such good care of me. I'm a traveling nurse from another state but I feel right at home when I eat here. I had the pleasure of their Easter Buffet AND Mother's Day brunch. Both were amazing. As someone who is traveling alone, they have been able to find a seat for me on those really crowded days and for that I am so grateful!

Great service and quality food with a fancy artsy flair After all out of at the Memorial At Gallery. Maude was the best and funny too. You do not have to be over 50 to have lunch there at 11am on a Thursday.

I contacted a bunch of places for a BIG lunch party for my wife's birthday. Not only was Webster at Brown Hound quick to call me, he set up the most perfect event for my wife. They set us up in a beautiful separate room at a huge table with amazing service and food/drinks. I can't recommend this place enough, WHAT A GEM!!

Such a perfect brunch in Rochester! There were four of us dining on a Saturday morning. The menu is seasonal and with the freshest ingredients. I had the Fresh Picked Frittata, which was tasty. I especially loved the home fries. Staff was pleasant and food came quickly. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely delicious and plenty. The Winter Bistro Salad was fresh and the red beets and goat cheese was a perfect mix with a fried egg. Atmosphere was fun and service was spot on. Thank you for a lovely time with The Queen Bee Club.

What a surprise of a treat to find this place in the MAG (Memorial Art Gallery) in Rochester. It is such a great venue with the influence of art and modern chic. Perfect for brunch. For starters we had a charcuterie board and some lobster bisque. By the way the coffee is excellent. Then we had the carnivore frittata and the shrimp and grits with 2 eggs. So delicious. The portions are generous. Almost too generous. I thought the service was great and the venue promotes great get-togethers.

Went out for brunch for the first time here with two friends. Very cute upstairs space, and the staff was super nice. I ordered the carnivore frittata which comes with home fries and fresh fruit - it was so good, and kept me full the rest of the day! We also ordered a mimosa carafe to split between 3 of us, and it was the perfect amount. I would definitely come back!

The Brown Hound has a lovely atmosphere and the staff was so attentive and welcoming! We went for brunch this Saturday and there was even a band playing live music that was very enjoyable!! However I didn't think the food was that great - it honestly reminded me of airplane food. The frittata was alright, but most of the meal consisted of the home fries that were bland and dry. And I was disappointed by the side of fruit, which reminded me that even though the restaurant looks so nice, it's still just museum food. HOWEVER I watched the servers bringing out food to the tables downstairs and some of the other meals looked way better! Maybe I just ordered the "wrong" thing! If I came again I would definitely try the french toast which looked really special. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere but overall I thought the food was rather bland.
