Our visit to the Rochester Chop House for my wife's birthday celebration started off on the wrong foot when we arrived and learned that the restaurant had somehow lost the reservation that I had made over a month ago and updated just two days ago. However, the gentleman in charge asked us to give him a few minutes and soon returned to let us know that he had a table of 8 ready for us, which quickly became a table of 9 when a guest I had forgotten to count showed up. We were impressed--and greatly relieved--that on a busy Saturday evening with the restaurant packed, he managed to find a table to seat our entire group, which included guests who had traveled all the way from San Francisco, Minneapolis and Lansing to attend this dinner.
Once seated, we received excellent service from Evelyn, who was assisted by Tyrone (?) and Max. Our food and drink came out with little delay, and each dish from the appetizers to the entrees to the desserts looked beautiful and tasted even better. Our guests all raved about the quality of the food. The evening finished with my wife receiving a complimentary birthday hot fudge ice cream creme puff. We all left the Chop House feeling very full and very satisfied.
I should add that this is the third milestone event that our family has celebrated at the Rochester Chop House, and each time our food and service has been outstanding. We look forward to many more great meals at this terrific establishment.
I go all the time. I wouldn't give them regular business for nothing.
Good, solid American fare, nice setting, good service.
Wedge salad is awesome, steak quality great, calimari is above average.
A fixture in downtown Rochester. I would recommend it as a place to take visitors to.
Good Experience. First time at the Rochester Chop House and it was a a good experience. It is a quaint, romantic location. The wait was not bad as we had reservations. The food was great. I had the Filet. It was tender and seasoned well. I also had Asparagus, potatoes and a salad. The meal was excellent. This is a great place for an anniversary, special occasion or date.
Great food and service, expensive.
The valet service needs help.
Great!! This is what a restaurant should be!! It's our anniversary tradition!!
Good service, I ordered their famous cheesy potatoes and really did not care for them and they did not charge me. Overall good food and service , prices did seem hi.
One of the best restaurants in Metro Detroit. Great place for a special dinner when your paying or to impress clients for a company dinner. Got to have Zip Sauce on your steak with the blue cheese hash browns - you can work out the next day.
Food was excellent but I found it over priced.

Great place for business meetings or a romantic dinner for two. Live piano player on most nights. You can't go wrong with their steaks or seafood. The fixed price menu available during the week offers a great deal for those who want several courses. Comfortable, dark chophouse atmosphere with lots of cushy leather chairs. Service is smart and will observe your pace and you'll never feel rushed or impatient. Highly recommended.
Never change that salad!. What a place. Resting on their laurels must be coming but on every trip to Kruse & Muer, I am not disappointed. They have a fabulous salad with cantalope, red onion and a homemade dressing - sounds awful, tastes devine. The many rock solid entries on the menu will never change due to a perfection of the taste combinations.
Wonderful steaks and great crab claws. Delightful staff very accommodating
