If you’re looking for the freshest lobster on the East Coast, you MUST try Roy Moore Lobster Company. I have been coming here for over 10+ years. I figured it was time to update my 9+ year old review! Roy Moore is famous for their locally-caught lobsters. They’re typically 1 1/2 LB lobsters, which is the perfect size in my opinion. The meat is juicy, tender, and flavorful. The larger lobsters are more tough. The establishment is a no-frills environment. You order up-front and eat out back on the deck overlooking the water. They offer fresh lobsters, smoked salmon, smoked mussels, clam chowder, oysters, Jonah crab claws, fish cakes, stuffed clams, lobster rolls, and shrimp cocktails. Everything is incredibly fresh. You’ll frequently see staff bringing in crates of lobsters right off the boat. It doesn’t get any fresher than that! The owner and his son are wonderful people. Kenny is the best at cooking the lobsters, he has it down to a science. You can’t replace experience. The result is a juicy, hot, and flavorful lobster. We typically start things off with the raw bar. We are big fans of their oysters, shrimp cocktail, and jonah crab claws. Next, we go for a cup of their incredible clam chowder. It is a meal in and of itself. It’s not like most Clam Chowder where it’s watered down, thin, and tasteless. I’d argue they make the best chowder I have ever had. Once we have hit the raw bar and chowder, we head onto the Stuffed Clams. The stuffed clams are incredible and they’re one of my favorite items on the menu. The lobsters are the star of the show here. As of October 2023, you can get (3) lobsters for $40. The price has certainly increased a bit, but to me it’s worth it. They’re always cooked perfectly, pre-cracked, and piping hot. The service is phenomenal. Kenny and his team truly put their all into the business. They also remember faces. I’ve been going there for 10+ years and he always recognizes me when I stop in. I will warn you: Do not go on a weekend. The line is literally dozens of people deep. It is totally mobbed. The place has certainly grown and the secret is out where to get the best lobster. I’d suggest visiting during the week, it’s far less busy. They also have a fish market next door where you can purchase locally-caught, sustainable fish, lobsters, lobster meat, and much more. Lastly, they now offer Beer and Wine to enjoy with your seafood feast! I highly recommend Roy Moore to locals and tourists alike. There is no other place like it.

Yum, yum, yum!! We caught our own lobsters in the morning with a guide and brought 4 of them on ice in a cooler to Roy Moore’s and they were so kind to cook them up for us! It was an amazing experience and such a cute little seating area in the back. We also ordered the chowder, slaw & oysters. Oysters were some of the best I’ve had! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Just had a delightful Cape Ann lunch of chowder and lobster 🦞 at the estimable Roy Moore ! Tiny storefront! Lobster cooked to order. Lobster in the rough on picnic tables near the most famous view in New England! Sweetest lobster I ever had. Friendly and informal service! Often quite crowded! Has to be timed but I could not have been happier with my lunch!

Drove to Rockport on our way home for a lobster roll based on reviews, so I’ll add mine for the experienced lobster roll consumer. 1. $’s worth for the going rate, a mix heavier on lobster tail than on claw meat. Very fresh, with tanks of lobsters just waiting for their destination. 2. Super low amount of, and if any, mayo 3. Not a toasted/buttered (hotdog) roll but a doughy, small grinder roll, lowering the delivery on expectations. I’d say dry. 4. Friendly, efficient staff. Have to say we were disappointed, tossing the roll after a bite or two. 5. See photos here with the “correct” rolls that are 3-5 years old. Why the change? Fresh lobster, good amount, eh experience.

A MUST Roy's the best. Great food no frills. Pro tip bring your own adult beverage. Get it before landing at Rockport. Roy says he my have beer in 2024. Done at the picnic tables out back by the iconic red trap house

Nice place for lobsters. Chowder was great and not too salty. My friend and I are not a big fan of smoked mussels

Always here when thinking of fresh lobsters and they never disappointed me. But this time I tried the lobster roll and I think the bread is too dry and too bland. The roll is not for me but still love the steamed one! 🦞💕

Our go-to lobster place in Rockport, the freshest lobster rolls I’ve ever had. They literally catch their lobsters that same morning and serve it fresh to you. More expensive than other areas ($32/roll) but you’re getting what you pay for. Seating in the back available right on the water, and if you can’t find a seat, the wait is usually no more than 10 min when everytime I’ve gone.

The seafood here was incredible! Every dish had a large amount of whichever seafood was in it, there was no skimping on lobster or scallops. The sauces for the scampi and the red sauce were outstanding! This was our favorite seafood meal in the area. On a side note, my niece who doesn't eat seafood got the mozzarella sticks and they were exceptionally good as well🤗 The view was great and the staff were attentive and kind. Definitely check this place out if you're in town.
