My husband and I were in Rockport to do a little Christmas shopping, and we found this gem of a restaurant. We were warmly welcomed by the co-owner into their beautiful space set right on the ocean. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and our lunches were yummy. I had a grilled fruit salad (a special)and savored every bit of it. My husband had their clam chowder and burger plate and he thoroughly enjoyed it as well. He gave me a taste of the chowder and hands down it is my favorite chowder in New England. Delicious! Thank you My Place By The Sea for a lovely meal!
We had dinner here and were able to sit outside. They have a really good location as it’s overlooking the water. It’s fairly small so you’ll need a reservation. If you can, walk up early afternoon to make the reservation. FYI if you request outdoor seating and it rains they won’t be able to move you inside. The menu has a good selection and there were a few specials Our food was really good and the staff was friendly and attentive. It’s pricey but we really enjoyed sitting outside with the water lapping up on the rocks.
We had a delightful lunch on the terrace but be sure to wrap up warm due to the cool breezes and some tables, like ours, are in the shade. Lengthy menus for all tastes and degrees of hunger from standards to some unconventional items. Great wine list and a selection of unique cocktails. Prompt and friendly service. Reservations are NOT possible so you may wind up standing in the street waiting for a table. No QR code menus, thank heavens!
Such a stunning, perfect meal that somehow made us feel like we were at an old friend’s place. The food was both high-end and comforting, and the service was attentive and caring without being suffocating. A very worthy spot for a nice night out!
The food was outstanding and cooked at perfection. The fish stew, the mussels in garlic white wine sauce, the medium rare salmon... even the garden salad was a work of art. 5 stars all around and impeccable service from Barbara who ushered us in and made us feel like home. Thank you!
Wonderfully romantic location, food was delicious and our server, Nick, was very helpful and courteous. We had clam chowder, the daily pasta (a shrimp carbonera) and the local haddock. The owner and server cared about our experience and helped make it a great night. Would definitely visit again!

Come for the view, stay for the food… either way is a win win.
Reservations are a bit tricky. They do not take lunch reservations. And they only take reservations for dinner starting at noon for that evening only.
I visited My Place by the Sea many many years ago and always hoped to return to this magical place at the end of Bear Skin Neck.
And so we called at noon, and many times for the next 30 minutes until we got through.
The wait was definitely worth it.
Fabulous food and a striking view.
The menu includes a variety of salads, plenty of seafood dishes, and many specials. Four or so desserts round out the menu.
My place also offers a variety of wine, beer and cocktails.
For appetizers I had a seasonal salads with grilled fruit from the specials menu and my partner opted for mussels. We were both surprised by the size of our appetizers, they easily could have been an entre. They were an excellent beginning to a splendid meal. For our main course I again choose something from the specials, swordfish - it was moist, well cooked and one of the best I’ve ever had.
My partner opted for the seafood pasta and was very happy as well - the dish consisted of a variety of shelled shell fish, rotini, and a slightly spiced red sauce.
My partner enjoyed the apple crisp for dessert, which was good- but had too much caramel for our taste.
On the whole we were very pleased.
This was the best birthday ever. The owner took such great care of us and despite the rainy weather, she ensured that we sat on the deck and went above and beyond to keep us dry. That was just the beginning. I could go on and on about how special she made us feel that day and I have never experienced such a personal touch. I was in awe and so grateful. I’m going back this week. Coming from Boston, this is definitely MY PLACE for any special occasions.
We go to this restaurant every year for our anniversary. The staff, the food, and the ambiance is always top notch. the people and restaurant NEVER disappoint and the sunsets
from the deck are gorgeous. I cannot recommend My Place by the Sea more highly!!! We love, love, love it!

I took my mother to "My Place by the Sea". What an amazing experience we had. The views were breathtaking and the food was absolutely delicious. We started out with apps not in pictures. She had the poached mussels simmered in white wine. I had the "Sam Smith" shrimp. Both were exactly what we were looking for. I wish I took pictures. We then both had the Lobster tacos. I didn't expect it to be as good as it looked because it's totally not traditional. I was blown away. We then moved to dessert. She had the key lime pie and I the something chocolate.
The only cons I can say are these. 1) I started calling at 12 noon sharp. At 12:28 after the 54th time, I got through and made the appointment.
2) The parking... Be ready to park in the center of town and walk. We were blessed by someone leaving the space right in front of the door as we rolled up. Almost miraculous.
Would I go through all of this again to go? ABSOLUTELY!!! And I will on many occasions. Alot of people won't go through the trouble to do so and I can only say it's they're loss. The staff were amazing and I can't tell you how incredible the 180 view was. From the deck you feel like you're on the water.
