For those vegan/vegetarian obsessed eaters looking for alternatives to salad rejoice! Yuan Fu is an excellent choice for those wanting great tasting food without the guilt or sacrifice. The restaurant itself is a bit dated but kept remarkably clean. The service was excellent and the food arrived fast. The "pork" and "kidneys" were done really, really well. The family style tofu is a must try - not too spicy. The basil eggplant is succulent and delicious. Definitely recommend this restaurant for all your vegan and vegetarian cravings.

Staff is very hospitable. Really good vegetarian Chinese food. Impressed by the wide range of offerings. Would definitely try other dishes next time. Don’t expect just vegetable dishes here! Tried the roast duck, beef walnut, fried eggplant, and tofu casserole.

I don’t think there are words to express how amazed you’ll be by their food. Every single dish is impecable and so authentic. Vegans and non vegans alike should try this place, it won’t disappoint. We had the roasted duck, wonton soup, orange chicken and mapo tofu and they were all perfect. Their menu is extensive, all vegan and everything is crafted to perfection. I just want to keep going back and trying out more of their dishes. The roasted duck appetizer is definitely a must in my opinion. But really, you can’t go wrong with anything you choose. Also, the service is super attentive and kind. Can’t wait to be back.

I’ve been here multiple times and each and every time I go this place, it never cease to amaze me. I brought my friend here and we order multiple dishes ranging from beef, mushrooms and chicken dish. My friend thought the General tso’s chicken was real chicken! Best appetizer was between the fried mushrooms or the fried taro balls. That’s how good this place is! Everything they make is 100% vegan! Customer service was awesome and I will definitely come back! Give them a try.

Mindlessly ordered a few random dishes and it was all very delicious. My husband is usually the fussy eater especially with vegetarian dishes and he loved them all! Super fast service and the restaurant filled up quite quickly. Will definitely go again.

Great gem for vegetarians who love Asian food! This place and Loving Hut Vegan in VA are my two favorites.

This place is AMAZING! So tasty that you wouldn’t even care it is vegetarian! The three cup duck & the spicy tofu pot is just so good - the tofu is really soft, and it’s so savory that you can easily finish the rice with it! Definitely one of the best restaurant in the area!

With Vegetable Garden in Silver Spring closing, I guess Yuan Fu will have to step up to fill in the void. But they just aren't as good as their erstwhile competitor across Montgomery County. The Sizzling Rice Soup is the best reason to come, although I do like the mock duck appetizer. My boyfriend has had the seitan "beef" a few times and found it spongy and mushy; they should find a new way to make the seitan they use to improve the texture. The service, although quick, is not very friendly. Prices are reasonable.

You might be tempted to just keep driving by this restaurant because from the outside, it looks just like any other small restaurant in a strip mall. But if you're a vegan or vegetarian, do yourself a favor and make a point to stop by and try it out. Family owned and operated with great service and staff. Classic Chinese dishes but everything on the menu is plant based, vegan and vegetarian. It's also really, really good. Lots of mock meet choices that enable them to serve just about all of the classic Chinese dishes as well as some really delicious chef specialties. For our appetizer we had the Sweet and Sour Cucumbers which were perfect for the really hit day. For dinner, my wife had the Veggie Duck with Chinese Broccoli and I had the 3 Way Crispy Sampler, both with the brown rice. Both dishes were great and came out really fast. Not much parking in the small shopping center and the restaurant fills up quickly at dinner and lunch times on the weekends. Highly recommended.

One of the best places in the DMV area to have a great vegan meal. I would rate this and loving but in falls church as the top two for vegans in this area. I have been there multiple times and tried their pineapple rice, Peking vegan duck, hot and sour soup among other things and have always been impressed with the quality of food! I always get the green tea and enjoy it as well. The place is located somewhere right across Marlos furniture along with a small set of establishments with good parking. The inside seating is pretty good - with the ambience tad dark inside ( more lighting inside would be good). Service is quick and efficient!

July 2021 Came here for the lunch special and a few more entrees. We were very curious about this Chinese vegetarian place, and it's pretty good. I believe they use tofu and soy-based meat substitutes. The texture of the "meats" aren't always meat-like, but the flavors are the same as any other Chinese place. For the lunch specials, we got the Moo Goo Gai Pan with Wonton soup and the Crispy Orange Chicken with Broccoli and Hot & Sour Soup. Both the Moo Goo Gai Pan and Orange Chicken tasted good, though the flavor of the orange chicken was a little light. Unlike the typical Chinese restaurant, the orange chicken is deep fried separately with the orange sauce poured on afterwards. Usually the chicken is pan fried with the orange sauce. The Hot & Sour Soup was good, but very VERY spicy. The Wonton Soup was rather disappointing, with practically no filling. We also got the Yellow Bird and Singapore Rice Noodles. My mom has been looking for someplace that does a good Yellow Bird, and she very much approves of the Yellow Bird here. The Singapore Rice Noodles were a little bit spicier than I'm used to, but otherwise very good. The service was fast and friendly. The portion sizes were decent for the price. Note the inside was pretty small, maybe 10 tables total. Overall, would come again.

A HIDDEN GEM ON ROCKVILLE PIKE. Yuan Fu is a small restaurant tucked into the left corner of a tiny street side commercial strip with no atmosphere or modern style. However, who needs atmosphere when the food is so good!! I never knew this place existed in Rockville until a vegetarian friend suggested it for dinner. I was underwhelmed when we pulled up to the place -- only one car in the lot at 6:00p on a Sunday and one table with a family with a small child already seated inside...but soon the restaurant filled up and, also, a few take-out customers stopped in to pick up advance orders. My orange "chicken" with broccoli and a side of white rice (choice of white or brown rice) was delicious and just the right amount for two satisfying helpings, and my friend's "chicken" and fresh pineapple meal -- served in a half pineapple -- was beautifully presented and, as my friend told me, delicious as well. And the service was quick and very pleasant. Now I need to keep this place a secret so it doesn't get so crowded that I have to wait long to get in and eat!!

I mean, come on, it’s an all vegan Chinese restaurant! I took it for granted when I worked 1/4 mile away for 15 years. I did eat there regularly, but now I’m an hour away and miss it! No more buffet because of covid. I was in the area so of course we dropped in! Kung pao tofu, pan fried dumplings and chicken with lotus root 🤌🏻

Highly recommend their veggie duck hot pot. Been going there since they opened in the 1990s. Perfect for my life partner, Laurie who eats a plant based whole foods diet. Thr ownet, Mary, is an amazing person.

Excellent staff, helpful. Good vegetarian/vegan food. We had the Panfried dumplings, Tofu hot pot and Kung Pao Chick'n. All were excellent. Dumplings with BocChoy& Tofu one of the best I have eaten. Their Veggie duck with ginger hot pot is one of the best dish ever. Worth the drive. This is likely the best vegan Chinese restaurant in the area. Taste is as good as the vegan restaurants in NYC.
