Nice lunch & dinner all you can eat with some restrictions on quantity but still reasonable. I had a nice salad, miso soup, Korean bulgogi, kimchi, cucumber salad and a nice tuna roll with some nice pieces of salmon, tuna & mackerel sushi. It was prepared nicely snd I really enjoyed myself. The bulgogi portion was a bit small but tasty nevertheless.

Man I really enjoy this restaurant! It is becoming one of my favorites to take friends to. To start off the waiter is always fast with everything and very friendly. They have all you can eat sushi(price goes up for lunch and dinner). There speciality sushi is always a nice surprise and quality fish. Aside from the sushi I really enjoyed the seafood lo Mein and teriyaki salmon. The Lo mein had a large variety of fresh seafood. I guess my only complaint is that the food is so good it’s hard not to continuously eat there!

I been coming here since when I was Middle School. It’s crazy it been twelve years. Personally, my favorite sushi buffet in the area. The quality of the sushi is amazing and always fresh made. They also have all you can drink miso soup. I always have six small bowls of miso soup. Very affordable buffet in my opinion. I go there almost once every month during the year. I just want to come back every time when I have the time. If you want a great experience go early as possible, it get a lot of people during lunch time. Staffs are always very friendly. This place is always clean. Your responsibility is to take what you can eat, otherwise you will be charged. Parking recommendation: I will park the upper level parking lot.

Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a great deal, all you can eat Shushi, seven days a week! A good variety; sushi, nigiri, sashimi, miso soup, salad, Korean BBQ, Bulgogi, terryaki chicken... I'm not a sushi expert. I enjoyed my meal and so did the two others with me. The sushi rolls were so filling. I recommend ordering the nigiri, and a limited amount of sushi rolls. For those of you who don't eat much just order á la carte. A California roll without caviar is only $5.75. pair that with miso soup and green tea and you have a meal for about $11. A bargain! Very large seating area and an area in the back you may reserve for large parties. Take out service is popular. Decent parking, one handicap parking space for the entire row of businesses, so be prepared to wait a little bit for a good parking space if you need to park near the entrance. Definitely worth checking out. Enjoy!

My husband & I just went here for the all you can eat lunch. We got sat immediately- the staff was so kind and responsive… the whole experience was very seamless. And the food was AMAZING! Really everything I had was delicious and took no longer than 5 minutes to be prepared. (I am also pregnant so I consider myself to be an extremely picky eater right now. So this is quite literally the best review I have ever given any restaurant.) 10/10 worth it!!!

TLDR: Endless Sushi and Japanese/Korean eats at a reasonable price! Both maki and nigiri were delicious. Vibe: 3/5. Located in a small strip mall off Congressional, parking at Hinode can sometimes be tough. The strip mall has several popular businesses inside, so parking during peak times can be scarce. On several occasions we have had to street park on nearby side streets and walk to the restaurant. The inside of Hinode is your pretty basic sushi restaurant. Dozens of 4 tops and a large wooden sushi bar occupy the bulk of the main dining area. They have several rooms full of tables, so getting a table is usually quite easy, even for larger groups. The decor is a bit antiquated , but it is clean and they do have 3 very nicely maintained fish tanks at the front that are a joy to watch while you dine. Service: 5/5. The staff have always been very nice and accommodating at Hinode. On our most recent visit for weekend lunch, service lived up to that expectation. We were seated immediately and given the all you can eat menus with our order taken promptly. Both the kitchen and the sushi chefs were quick in getting the food out and our waiter was on top of the beverage refills. Couldn't ask for a better experience . Food: 4/5. Before the pandemic, Hinode used to be a predominantly buffet style restaurant, offering sushi and Japanese/Korean food on the bar for you to take at your leisure. Post pandemic, they have transitioned to an all you can order style of dining, which in my opinion produces a better overall experience. The sushi comes out fresher and you are always guaranteed to get what you want. On my most recent lunch, the sushi was well prepared and generous in fish portion size. The hot foods were also exceptional, offering a delicious alternative to prevent sushi palate fatigue. The portion sizes for each sushi order are also nicely thought out (1 nigiri and 4 pieces per roll) so diners won't get full off of a single roll or 2. Overall, for the price of $23-30 depending if you down for lunch or dinner, Hinode is a great choice for sushioholics

This was an incredible takeout experience!! There are restaurants that do takeout well, and then there are restaurants that ... do takeout ... Hinode’s takeout was packaged really well! I ordered the yakisoba, a California roll, a Tokyo roll, a Mexican roll, and miso soup. I was so pleasantly surprised to find that they had included a free dessert (fried banana) and miso soup as well! The yakisoba was really delicious - the cabbage was not overdone and the texture of the noodles were chewy and bouncy and wonderful. The sushi was so fresh. They included a spicy Mayo (I think?) as well as the extra ginger I ordered, and that was so lovely and thoughtful. The miso soup had a wonderful depth of flavor and it was really delicious as well. What I really loved is that there was a hole pierced in the top of the box that had the fried banana to promote airflow! That was such a smart decision and helped the fried banana stay a little crunchier than it would have been. I will absolutely be ordering from this place again!!! This was a great experience and I didn’t miss eating in the restaurant at all (which no one should be doing! We are in a global pandemic! Ordering takeout is so easy!).

In my opinion, this restaurant is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Rockville. The food is fresh and affordable, the service is impeccable, and the overall ambiance of the restaurant is pleasant. The staff are always respectful and accommodating, there is pleasant music playing to relax the mind, and there is always plenty of parking available (not technically part of the restaurant but worth mentioning). Every time I have dined here, I have had nothing but a pleasant experience. Every entrée/dish is made/presented beautifully and the staff are always in a good mood. I definitely recommend this restaurant to friends, family, co-workers, etc.

Hinode is an EXCELLENT RESTO for ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI. The only problem I have is that it makes it difficult to try things when you have to pay a surcharge for anything you can't finish. Also, they dont allow you to take home food that is left on the table. They will charge you extra on it

Excellent and affordable sushi! If you’re hungry, all you can eat menu is the way to go. Bento boxes or individual nigiri/maki orders are great for a little less appetite.

Recently there have been some harsh reviews of Hinode. We went there today for lunch and had a good experience. The restaurant shows its age inside but has a calm atmosphere where one can easily talk and be heard. The all you can eat lunch special has a nice variety of items to choose from, the eel being a favorite. The staff is efficient. Will the sushi here compete with a top end restaurant, no. But for a enjoyable sushi meal without breaking the bank Hinode is a good choice.

Recently moved up to this area and decided to try and find some good sushi. After some time, I found Hinode. The service was relaxed and the food was delicious. Decided to do the a la carte menu. On top of the sushi, there was also plenty of other options ranging from dumplings to noodles. All of it was fantastic. Will certainly be coming back.
