I had a delightful dining experience at "Barra Brava," a Peruvian restaurant located in Rockville, MD. Let me share the details of my visit. First, let's talk about the location. The restaurant offers limited free parking in a nearby lot, which is convenient, though it can fill up quickly. I visited during lunchtime, and to my pleasant surprise, there was no waiting time. For lunch, I ordered the "menu ejecutivo," which featured Pollo al Horno with rice and "ensalada rusa." The Pollo al Horno was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. While the ensalada rusa was good, I felt it could have been even better. The meal came with a refreshing maracuyá drink and "leche de Tigre," which was absolutely on point and added a delightful touch to the dining experience. We also decided to try the "pulpo a la parrilla," and it exceeded our expectations – a solid 10 out of 10! It was incredibly good. One highlight for me was their offering of Inka Kola, the iconic Peruvian soda, in a glass bottle. It's definitely a step above the plastic bottle or can. "Barra Brava" also stocks a variety of Peruvian products, from candies and sweets to cooking ingredients and even Peruvian beer, not to mention a selection of items from other South American countries. While the seating inside is a bit tight and not the most comfortable, they do have outdoor seating if the weather permits, which is a great option. The staff at "Barra Brava" is incredibly friendly, helpful, and always wearing smiles. The restaurant itself is clean, including the bathroom. In summary, it was a fantastic dining experience, and "Barra Brava" stands out as one of the best options for Peruvian cuisine in the DC area. I'm looking forward to returning and will definitely recommend this place to friends and family. 🍽️🇵🇪👍

food is great! I usually stop by 2-3 times a week, and I always have an excellent experience. The staff is well prepared and the food is delicious. I would recommend that you plan ahead thou because the place is small so depending at what time you go you might be waiting a solid 30 minutes for your food to arrive. Huge shout out to johan who really cares about the restaurant

Great experience, food was delicious!! My first time here , our server Anthony was on point, he had good knowledge of the menu and his suggestion was delicious and well made. If you are Peruvian and you are missing the flavors of home this is the place to go!! And on top of that they have a good selection of Peruvian wines , beer , products and desserts. I hope to be back soon.

My favorite place with best Peruvian seafood and sides. I guess this is the so-called authentic great ethnicity food at a hole in the wall place. ❤️

I haven’t tried many items, but the regular ceviche de pescado is very good here! I am very particular about the flavor of the leche de tigre in my ceviche but Barra Brava has the perfect flavor, not strong yet not too weak. A lot of Peruvian restaurants in the area have trouble finding the perfect blend, but not at Barra Brava. I can’t wait to try another dish next time!

I live close to this place but only made it in recently. The food was extra surprisingly good! We were not expecting it to be that good! We got the mussels, which was piled with onions and garlic inside. Almost like a ceviche muddle dish. We also got the fish dish which has a great sauce and plenty of thick chunks of onions. It said it had sweet potatoes but they seemed like regular. They also have a 3.8% discount when using cash, including alcohol. The only issue I had was they said 20 minutes, and it was closer to 40 minutes. When waiting with a baby in the tight space it made things difficult. Although there were maybe 10 to go dishes coming out. I just think they should give an accurate time if they are busier. Also some of the wine looks pretty old, with shriveled lables and some have dust. Bottles of wine seemed a little higher priced too. Otherwise they do have a great selection of authentic Peruvian ice cream.

Best ceviche!! Great mom and pop little restaurant atmosphere. Very welcome to English speaking individuals while offering an authentic taste! If you are a ceviche fan Barra Brava should be on the top of your list.

Went here with my wife and her family for the Peruvian independence day. I wasn’t sure what to expect because my wife said we were coming for the seafood. After reading some reviews I was hopeful and was pleasantly surprised. Only one of us ordered their “famous” ceviche but everyone loved their food. Space is limited and even though they sell alcohol, they can’t sell it to you to have on premise which was annoying but nonetheless everything was delicious. I had the arroz con mariscos and it was delicious though I wasn’t expecting how spicy the rice was. If you’re sensitive to spice careful about what you ordered although I think mine was an exception. Definitely coming back to try some of the more traditional criolla dishes though 🤤🤌🏼

I’ve been wanting to try this place and finally decided to go. The food was quite good, we got the pescado arroz chaufa and a mixed platter of ceviche, causa and jalea. The maracuya juice was fresh and tasty. We had tres leches for dessert which was delicious. I only gave 4 because it took nearly an hour to get our platter, and 35 minutes for the fried rice. Service was slow, and the place itself is quite busy, they were nice and gave us a drink on the house because of how long our food took. Parking is a bit tricky too, the neighboring shops are all automotive shops so there’s very limited parking since they’re all taken by the auto shops. Interesting place to have a restaurant since it’s not the most convenient in terms of space but definitely a decent place to grab a bite.

The food is good. They serve beverages but no drinks. Even when they are called "Barra", which means Bar. If you go only for the food, you will enjoy it.
