Review Chiloso Mexican Bistro - Rockwall

Long lines, must be good, right? The breakfast tacos were good. Made to order as you go through the line. I hate cold potatoes but these guys mash them up a bit and serve them hot. Get as much salsa and or pico as you want and lastly, food comes with a little bag of tortilla chips. So would I go back? Yes I would. Enjoy!

This girls' "attention-to-detail", were on point. First bite to finger licking. Burrito bowl with steak and a house margaritas on ice.

I normally do not write a review on places I go eat but this time, I just had too. If I go out to eat, It means that the food should taste better than the left overs I had in my fridge. This place has the salt in their food but no flavor at all. Way over priced too. I know that we should be grateful that these people showed up to work despite the pandemic but we also came to the restaurant to show our support despite the pandemic. Therefore we should get good service and good food because we are paying right? Cut my story short, we had a bland but salty food. And oh, I asked for a side of queso in my bowl but this guy said that I have to pay to put it on the side but free if he puts it in my bowl ! Wow!!!! We did not even get our drinks that we paid 2, 75 dollars each. I would have given this place a zero but it would not let me. My husband's food tasted like canned Tuna instead of Tacos. We will never come back..

Absolutely the best breakfast burritos I have ever had. I come here every time I come visit my Insurance agent who is based in Rockwall, TX and the coffee is Community Coffee based out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Very delicious 😋. The ingredients for the burritos are sooo fresh and the food not greasy at all. Seriously the best. I did mine with eggs, chorizo, shreaded cheese, a lot of avocado 🥑, squeezed lime is the key, black beans and some other stuff I can't remember now lol. Do get the white ranch style sauce to put on top. It's the best 👌 👍

Shout out to Chiloso at Tacolandia! These guys did a great job and the tacos were so delicious. Amazing flavor and so so good. Great event, food and people! We had a blast!

Makes some of the best Chicken Tortilla Soup. We spend a lot of money at the Rockwall location, but today will be our last meal here. For the third time, despite putting my order in two hours early, I had to wait 41 minutes to get my order, in the middle of a work day. They offered a free meal ticket, but I declined. Waiting for the food made me late for a work meeting. You would have thought a manager would have, at least, approached me and comped the food. Service used to be so good at this location, but in the last 5-6 months, it has declined. And it’s not like they were slammed. They forgot about my order ultimately. And due to hurrying the process, the broth itself was pretty weak. Pretty disappointed. We don’t want free food - we just want our orders to be on time, especially if ordered that far in advance, and when it is rushed, due to whatever reason, for the food to still be par with what is usually provided to the customer.

Food is good. Customer service is not good. An employee who was working the line was extremely rude. She was making my order and I noticed it was wrong so I repeated the order…she still made it wrong. When I tried to tell her it was wrong, she got very frustrated. I was asking her to add rice and no tortilla strips to the first soup (not hard). Then the lady started speaking about me to the other worker. Very unprofessional! And my order was still wrong.

Nothing screams the weekend to me more than heading to Chiloso Mexican Bistro and partaking in their breakfast tacos! With 5 locations you are sure to find one close by; my personal favorite location is the one located in Rockwall. The staff is friendly and it is super clean! With so many toppings to put on your tacos you are sure to find the perfect combination that makes you want to go back for more! Prices of tacos start at $3.00 for one taco $5.00 for two and $6.00 when you order 3!

BIG PORTIONS = RETURNING CUSTOMER. Enough said... Just prepare to wait for it. If they could create 2 lines and perhaps 2 serving lines, I can't even count how many people walk out in just the time I'm there waiting.

The bride and I are dating again with our fist visit to Chiloso and we are blown away! A line out the door is either an inconvenience or a sign that you're about to eat good! One word of advice, dessert, the grilled vanilla cake is WOW, enjoy!

So, I was prompted to write this review after 2 bad experiences.  The first was about a month ago when my husband picked up some food for me and specifically told them no pico because it's too hot.  I get my food and proceed to take a bite.  Low and behold, my mouth begins to burn.  They put pico on it.  So, today, we go for a late lunch and I literally said, "let's go to give them a chance to redeem themselves." (After all, we'd enjoyed the food in times past.)  What did I say that for? We get there and explain to the person taking our order that we wanted 2 VEGGIE OMG quesadillas ... no meat, just grilled veggies, cheese, avocado and the other yummies that come with it, 1 child burrito, and 1 child cheese quesadilla.  Again, no pico.  (Let me note:  the OMG quesadilla is not actually on the menu, but was suggested to us the first time we went, so I've ordered this a few times since then.) We went to the table and sat down.  The server brings out a child's quesadilla, 1 regular cheese quesadilla (which we didn't order), 2 OMG quesadillas WITH CHICKEN.   Um, what part of VEGGIE did they not get?  (Again, we've ordered this before, so didn't even expect this mistake.)  Anyway, we explained to the server the error.  She took the food back and a few minutes later came back out with the SAME PLATES.  I was like, um, this is not what we ordered.  We ordered a VEGETARIAN OMG quesadilla.  She looked at me confused.  I was like, this has chicken.  We didn't want any meat.   So the person who took our order came to the table.  We showed her the ticket SHE wrote which had the V for veggie on it.  So they took the food back again.  This time they brought back the quesadillas with practically no veggies...a few onions, the avocado, and some cheese... and none of the sides that were supposed to be with it.   While we were eating, the person who originally brought our food looked at our table.  I smiled and she practically grimaced.  It took all in me not to say something to her.  I'm like, don't be mad at me cause you were wrong.   Anyway, it was a terrible experience, and as much as I have liked the food there in times past, I'm not sure if I'll be returning.

Nasty. Had a burito and must say that it may have been the worst one ever. It was served iced cold and lacked any real imagination. Not at all worth the timr or effort.

My wife and I went in for lunch today. The line to order was very long. The bar bacon taco I received literally had to be peeled from the paper container. The tortilla was so doughy, I could not eat it. My wife had nachos which she says were just okay. I ate the meat from my taco and then started on the chips and salsa. The chips were so undercooked, I could literally make a soft taco out of them. I never saw anyone that looked like a manager to let them know of these issues. Every single employee had to be 18 or younger. Their patio area really needs a power washing. I've been out of the food service business a long time, but I remember that I never would have gotten away with having a patio area as filthy looking as this place. Chiloso, I know you won't miss our business. It looks like you stay busy enough with folks that don't mind the quality, or lack thereof, of your food.

Family went for lunch! Food was good! Service was ok. Un organized and poor communication on like if u get drinks, will bring the rest of ur food, and taking orders. Overall would go back but not a top place!

I've been to Chiloso's several times, & it has never disappointed me. I've had the nachos, burritos, etc. I've always had really good chicken and rice and even their avocado/guacamole is delicious. And since I've been raised with traditional Mexican food I'm not that easy to impress. Chipotle is also good but I generally prefer Chiloso's because I feel like it's better quality. They could have better seating and less loud music but I could say the same thing about the Chipotle in Mesquite. At least Chiloso's offers to help out the community! Overall, if it's a date night and you want a nicer version of Chipotle, go with Chiloso's.

Delicious!!!!! Grilled avocado topped with barbacoa and tortilla soup was great. Also tried a rolled quesadilla that's not on the menu. Called the OMG. Recommended by a frequent customer we talked to in line. Highly recommend this place. I like their hottest salsa too. There is a line, put it only took use five minutes to get through it. Definitely making this a regular stop on our trips!!!

WONDERFUL FOOD!! The downfall is that this place is ALWAYS busy--I went last night at 8:30pm (on a Tuesday) and had to wait in a long line. But...REALLY worth the wait! Try their chicken tortilla soup! Love the home town feel of this place. Can't ever eat there without seeing at least one person I know! :)

Crunchy rice not cooked today. Order something else.

Cheesy, and I don't mean Monterray Jack. The atmosphere is like an elementary school cafeteria. It's loud and plastic, you even get your own little plastic tray to walk through the line with! Less than mediocre food served with no imagination. I don't know if it's the norm there but I saw a cook cross-grilling meat and vegetables, that's just plain nasty.

YUMMY. Okay lots has been said about this restaurant. Yes the line is somewhat unpleasant sometimes. Aside from some of those comments this place ROCKS! The menu is loaded with great food and its fun to watch the Rockwall youth coming and going. Check this place out with the Mrs. one night... she will love you for it!

First time. I ate at this bistro twice and I enjoyed both the tacos and fajitas.. Good food.. Did not like waiting in the line though..

The grilled pound cake with fresh cream and Serrano-strawberry sauce is off the chain.

New favorite place for lunch. Highly recommend trying it.

Great interstate stop. Stopped on our road trip from Little Rock to Austin. Good, hearty, fresh food. Many menu items. Clean place with nice staff. Yummy salsas, delicious chips! Would def come back if we lived in the area!

Don't See What the Big Deal Is. I've been to Chiloso's twice after hearing rave reviews and quite frankly, I was disappointed. For one, they don't offer a kids menu. Everything comes as a "plate" so if your kid doesn't like refried beans or rice, too bad, you have to pay for it anyway. You can't just order a cheese quesadilla all by itself like you can at Chipolte. The second time I tried it, I ordered their taco plate and I can honestly say that I was not impressed with their food at all. The chicken was chopped very small and was dry and didn't have much flavor, unlike Chipotle's chicken which is juicy and flavorful. By the time I got to the last taco, the flour tortilla was cold and hard. It was nasty! Not only that, but the music was WAY too loud and fast paced which made my already aching head even worse by the time I left. Too loud and noisy in that place. I won't even mention that you can't buy a beer or margarita there like you can at Chipotle. Yes, I am a fan of Chipotle - their food is fresh and flavorful and doesn't taste bland. Finally, not to sound racist or anything, but I think most of the rave reviews for Chiloso (on this site), were written by white people who really don't have a clue as to what "good" Mexican food is supposed to taste like. I'm not saying you have to be Mexican to know good food, but being from San Antonio, Chiloso falls woefully low below my standands. But it's good that they do stuff to help the local community!

Absoulutly amazing! I've tried Many different items here and I have to say they were all delicious! You can never go wrong with soft tacos.

The grilled avocadoes were good, and the barbacoa topping was delicious, but a little scant. The grilled pound cake was good, and creative. Our bill was $25 for two adults with dessert & tea. Part of the profits go to a mission group tonight. It's nice when businesses support worthy causes.

Like a home-made version of Chipotle. Same idea, similar decor, just with better tortillas and Mexican Cokes. Over all I would give Chiloso's 8/10. Fresh, fast, but nothing mind blowing. I do want to come back and try the breakfast menu. Great place to grab some quick tacos.

I drive 30 miles round trip to eat here!. This is the yummiest, freshest Mexican food north of Austin. Very typical of Austin taco stands. Tortillas and meats are excellent! Try the grilled avocados too. Best sauce is the jalapeno/cilantro ranch. Huge portions so make sure you're going back to a frig because you're going to have leftovers.

Best breakfast I've ever had.. I eat here at least twice a week and most of the time I make it in about three or four times and if they served breakfast all day, I would go there more often than that! <br/><br/>Chiloso blows Chipotle out of the water and anyone that says otherwise must work for a competitor or have gotten fired from Chiloso. The proof is in the pudding...read on.<br/><br/>This restaurant has been featured in D Magazine and was listed as one of the best values in the Dallas area for under $5 (breakfast). <br/><br/>I highly recommend that you make it in for breakfast and get the three pack of breakfast tacos. I'd suggest the potatoes (cooked with onions and super yum), bacon, cheese and jalapenos (if that's your thing). <br/>They have about a billion different toppings to choose from: onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, potatoes, beans, eggs, roasted corn...you get the picture. They have bacon, chorizo, sausage or barbacoa as meat options and top it off with one of five different salsas/sauces.<br/><br/>Chiloso has been in Rockwall since 2006 and it's won Taste of Rockwall every year since it's been in business and there's a good reason why. <br/><br/>mmmm...I can almost taste it. Thankfully, I WILL taste it tomorrow because I go there every Sunday. If you don't try this place it won't bother me any. Maybe it'll keep the line of regular customers down to a manageable level :)

Really good tex Mex. The breakfast is to die for and the nachos are incredible. I like it a lot better than chipotle. They have specials each day that are really good too.

Iffy but I would go back. Meh, seems like it use to be better to me. I dont know. It's still pretty good I just remember it being a lot better then it is now.

I am sorry, but this place USED to be good a few months ago. I don't know if a new owner took over or what. They are also greedy with their portions.
