This was my first visit to Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q, so I tried both the chicken and BBQ. It was absolutely delicious, my patronage was very welcomed, and the next time that I’m in Rocky Mount, North Carolina I will stop by Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q for a second round of their amazing hospitality, pleasant atmosphere, and absolutely delicious food!

First time and it was decent. I could use more vinegar on bbq, chicken was tasty, hushpuppies okay. I didn't like that the chicken is in a box that can be vented but they weren't punched out so the chicken sweats. Hushpuppies are put on top of bbq so they end up soggy. Bbq is sitting in liquid and not properly drained. I would still go back.
This chicken was more than I bargained for. Tasty lightly seasoned just right. I know my plate doesnt look interesting but dont let it fool you. The potatoe salad and coleslaw was great. I wanted to take sides back to my truck. So DO drop in if one is near you
If you are in North Carolina, there is no better place to get East Carolina BBQ (vinegary) sandwiches or chicken and biscuits.
It's close to US-64 and I-95 and easily seen from the highway. There's plenty of parking.
After visiting Rocky Mount Toyota for a oil change, I had to visit my favorite restaurant. I ordered a tail gate special, plus buy one get one free Brunswick stew. I live 30 min away. When we got home the Brunswick stew was watered down. When I called the manager on duty. She state the health inspector just left. the report said it was to much water in it. A couple of days later I returned, my Stew was replaced. Smithfield Chicken and Bbq is the best. Things do happen.
Very tasty fried chicken. All the bbq appears to be pulled pork, no ribs on the menu 😕 The dining room was clean and bright, with nice music playing that was kept at a pleasant volume.
