A hidden gem and lovely little restaurant in the subfloor of the Roslyn Hotel. The service was prompt and our waiter Indra was extremely welcoming and friendly, and even ended our meal with customly concocted complimentary shots on the house. Everything we ordered was delicious (minus the raspberry sauce that came with my chocolate flourless cake which had a odd/artificial taste.) This place would be positively drumming with business if it weren't so obscurely located.

all appetizers were surprisingly great. Entrees were just ok. Short ribs too dry and lack sauce. filet mignon was way too over done. Kings salmon was acceptable to me. desserts were nice. waiter services showed inexperienced in a few ways. Broke glasses 4 times within a meal.

The Cellar comedy club is a great venu.. 3 great comedians opened last night for our favorite stand up comic, Fred Rubino. Sold out crowd was into it all night. Good food and service.

Beautiful, elegant restaurant with outstanding service. I brought my best friend for a special occasion. I spoke with Dhanish the prior day to be certain that the breakfast menu would not be too fussy. Abdul waited on us and made suggestions that Were delicious. Abdul treated us like royalty with outstanding attention. The food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. And you can wear whatever is comfortable!

Amazing food and service! We enjoyed the Spicy Tuna Nachos appetizer. It was truly fantastic with the right amount of spice, so delicious and one of the best tuna dishes we ever tasted . We loved it. The service was extraordinary. Abdul was excellent, very pleasant, and helpful. He made our evening at 1221 a total pleasure. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's beautiful and the food in top quality. Try the short ribs, which are beyond great. I am so happy we tried this restaurant. We had a fabulous dinner with top quality service. We'll be back.

The service here was outstanding. Our waiter in particular, Indra, was very pleasant when speaking with him about the ingredients and flavors of some of the dishes we ate. The grilled octopus appetizer was delicious. I personally would've wanted more grill/blackened pieces but the octopus was tender and mild. The sauces accompanied them were excellent. I couldn't decide which was better, the red base sauce or the lighter cream with a kick to it. Entrees I'd recommend, as I would order it again: - Lobster Mushroom Risotto, very rich and hearty. It was fantastic in plating & presentation and all the flavors worked together. Excellent! - Branzino Entree, very generous portions and the vegetables it was paired with, complimented without taking away the subtle fish flavors. Cous cous I believe was the accompaniment. Very filling dish as well. - side order: fried cauliflower. First time I've ordered it in this flavor - yellow curry. And the golden raisins folded in with honey made this side very sweet and it went well with our savory entrees. Pleasant surprise and it was delicious. Side note: I came here to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and the restaurant saw my notes when I made the reservation on an app. They brought us complimentary champagne and offered us dessert. We were so full honestly, dessert was the last thing we were thinking. Indra was so sweet and insisted we order something. A lovely gesture by the staff and the kitchen. Much appreciated. We were having a very lovely dinner and this topped the evening.

This place had an amazing food selection and also accommodated for my dietary needs, after asking a waiter staff named Abdul for a vegetarian option, he personally asked the chief to make me a vegetarian dish, not only was the wait staff professional , but very welcoming as well. I , of course, would come here again.

Food was amazing ! And service was perfect! Ordered lamb meatballs for appetizer and lamb shank for the main course . Other dishes on our table included Duck and truffle chicken! They suggested having Cabernet with the lamb dish and the choice of wine was excellent! Highly recommend 1221👍👍

My wife and I love this place! The food is outstanding and the service is excellent. Great beer selection too. Try the Kebab Bar, you won't be disappointed. Also, never had blackened lamb before, but now I crave it!

Tried out this new place in Roslyn, on the ground floor of the Roslyn Hotel. The hotel is a bit set back and difficult to spot initially. The resturant has a casual contemporary yet old school speakeasy feel. Very spacious booths that are also intimate. Food is progressive but very approachable and delicious. The service is working out the kinks (needed some patience in the beginning before things started clicking), given it’s a new resturant. The drinks took a few minutes longer than they should have, but the cocktails are also delicious. Not sugary and thick, but smooth and satisfying. The bread is average, but the amusebouse is a nice touch—flavorful and inviting. Also the place did a moist towel to start the meal, very classy and luxe. All in all a lovely evening out with the hallmark of a luxurious and fun dining experience. Will return and won’t be surprised if it’s better!

Long Islanders of a certain age recall fondly the grungy iconic eclectic music club situated underneath the Roslyn viaduct in a converted bowling alley. "My Father's Place" (MFP) featured basic beer and great bands, thriving from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s. Last summer, proprietor "Eppy" brought back MFP, in the new upscale format of a music supper club, in the Roslyn Hotel, a few blocks from the original MFP. Many of the old bands have returned to perform, but now the room is modern, comfortable, and attractive, and there's a menu of food and drink worthy of consumption (we went once in summer and have tickets for later this month). A few steps away, across the lobby from the reincarnated music club, is a newish restaurant, dubbed "1221 @ MFP," helmed by accomplished Chef Tomo Kobayashi (whose experience includes stints at Lespinasse, Alain Ducasse, and Asiate, and as corporate executive chef for the Poll Restaurant Group). He also provides the food for the club (there are two separate menus). The restaurant's contemporary-styled room is not large, but features an ample bar that catered to some additional patrons after the music show next door let out. We and our good friends arrived by 7:15 pm and were nearly the last to leave, at 11:30. Despite the length of our stay, we never were rushed, and our table of four didn't feel compelled to move it along, as surprisingly the room never became more than three quarters full on a Saturday night (do they have a marketing issue?). The availability of tables was inconsistent with the quality of the offerings. We enjoyed: cocktails/wine by the glass to start; a bottle of Chablis (French White) as well as a bottle of a 2009 Saint Emilion (Red Bordeaux); Italian Burrata (2 orders), Yellowfin Tuna Crudo, Hen of Woods Mushroom, Colorado Lamb Chops (3 orders), Red Snapper With Mushrooms and Soba Noodles in Spicy Miso Broth; and we concluded with Amontillado Sherry and Dow White Port to accompany assorted sorbets (the lychee sorbet was particularly highly acclaimed at our table). Service was delivered with youthful exuberance and few glitches. Volume levels were quite manageable (reflective, perhaps, of the census in the place). Food prices are consistent with what you'd expect, and the prices on the nice wine list appeared to be somewhat on the moderate side. Practical note: The direct entrance to the restaurant (and music club) is from the parking garage around the back - I think our Lyft driver had to go up one ramp from the street level and circle around back down two ramps to get there. Perhaps there's an easier way (a front entrance that we didn't see, because I wasn't driving?), but construction and a current lack of signage makes it less than intuitive both upon arrival and also if you're giving instructions as to where to be picked up.

Restaurant Week on LI brought us to 1221 for their pre-fixe and we were not disappointed. My Salmon was not overdone and hubby's short rib was juicy to his liking. Sean was attentive and staff in general were seriously working. It helped that we had a reservation at 6:30. Things slowed down at 8. Enjoyed the evening. Great intro to 1221at MFP! ...so what is MFP?

Don’t sleep on this place, dialed spicy margs. Indro the bartender is the way to go… hooks it up. Food is diverse, sushi in one hand, Italian in the other…. Doesn’t disappoint. They don’t play around here… good spot
