Tan Cang is a fusion of vietnamese chinese cuisine located in Rowland Heights, opposite of Hong Kong Plaza. This place build its reputation for serving fast, fresh yet delicious seafood. I ordered sizzlin' black pepper beef, garlic mussels, and lobster. Most tables will order lobster stir fried with green onions.
Great with the crowd or family to share some memorable moments together! With all the considerations this place has to offer, I pledged it a full 5 perfect star!
Mmm.. Lobster... Most of the dish here are really good tasting! They are famous for the lobster! Its a must! This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around! Its good for family lunch/dinner
Tan Cang Seafood. I'd been hearing good things about the lobster and because we had graduations to celebrate, we tried a fixed menu set and also the House Special Lobster at Tan Cang Newport Seafood Rowland Heights. We arrived on a weekend around 6 and before the biggest crowds. Our party of 8 was seated after a half hour wait but unfortunately the table was too small for the party and the large number of dishes resulted in some spillage as the "lazy susan" was spun. The lobster was spectacular to look at and delicious. I've never paid $105 for one plate of food before but it was memorable. Very good were clams with basil, pea shoots, steamed tilapia (I never thought a delicate and light flavor could be coaxed from this fish), salt and pepper shrimp. The kung pao chicken was okay and house seafood soup was so-so. They had a line of hungry patrons at the door and the waiters seemed to be watching us closely hoping we would leave sooner rather than later.
Great food! Ordered their packaged dinner specials that included crabs and fish and a good variety of veggies & meat for my birthday. Every 12 of us were so amazed by how each plate came out tickling your palate differently letting you crave for more.
Tan Can Newport Seafood is such a place that has established itself as one of the stalwarts of Chinese seafood cooking. Live seafood such as clams, lobsters, fish, and crab are their specialties.
This is one of my favorites for seafood, especially for its lobsters. The Cantonese-style stir-fried lobster is so tender and juicy. The dishes here are so authentic, have good taste, and aren't revered for Westerners.
Newport Seafood Restaurant has two branches, both can have 4-star, but the Rowland Heights one is better than San Gabriel.
BTW, both locations are not easy to park, the San Gabriel only has valet parking.
The only place you can get full eating lobster. The French beef is great. The honey walnut shrip is very impressive. Crispy and moist at the same time.
Wow, excellent fresh seafood! The variety of delicacies that are made available here is very impressive, and prepared to perfection. The lobster is the star of the show, with most tables seeming to order one, prepared in a variety of styles. We had ours with ginger and scallions. The lobsters seem to average about 4 to 5 pounds, and with a vegetable dish it was all we needed. The lobster was excellent of course, I mean what can be wrong with a great big lobster? It was perfectly cooked, and I must say it was one of the best meals we've had all year. I will definitely be returning for another lobster some day, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some seafood.
It was one of the most authentic Chinese food that I had eaten since arriving at LA. The seafood was fresh and the flavors were all done right. Had the fish, which was so crispy that I downed the bones and fins in entirety. The prawns cooked with walnuts were awesome and is my favorite. Expect a bit of waiting as it is usually crowded.

This is my number one seafood restaurant that I will treat my family and friends and the BEST restaurant for the lobster lovers..... I ate so many special lobsters and still ONLY this place is still unbeatable!!!
However, don't waste your money $34 to order this house special fried fish... it's embarrassing and my only mistake of the night !!!
Overall good!!! I like it as i been craving fir Chinese food. I live the geoduck sashimi n geoduck salt n pepper. The blackpepper beef is so good!!! Service is good n fast too.
Normally I like my lobster without any fancy sauce because i want to taste the freshness in its most original state but this place became an exception to that. It actually tastes really good with all kinds of stuff on it!
But be warned! This place is not cheap! For 4 dishes, our total came out to be $135.83! The lobster itself was a whopping $85.26!! And it was only a medium sized lobster.
I also liked their Beef Loc Lac. It's actually medium rare in the middle. Nice!
